Great collection. Collect all type of sets.Still have some of my. Collins faux leather sets l bought in Chester England in the early 1960's (17yrs old) Now have become a bit of a fanatical collector Specially with the advent of the internet!
Sorry to hear about your grandmother, she had some lovely books. I love the look of the cloth bound and just have them for special books. I also like the English library as I find them very readable. But the majority of my books are the black classics. Good to see an Aussie here😁
Lovely collection. I recently bought a Marjolein Bastin Classics book, oh so beautiful. Not only are their beautiful flowers on the pages and her artwork iis just beautiful, but it has letters and maps inserted into the pages. So it feels like a special surprise when you are reading the book. There are six books to the series, I hope they will make more.
Lovely editions! My go to editions have to be Penguin Deluxe, Penguin English Library and the Oxford World Classics as I consider them to be the most readable and some of the nicest to annotate (which is personally very important) but have random one off editions I find second hand. I like the mismatched look, which is useful as I organise my classics chronologically
I have to say that for readability it is pretty hard to beat a Penguin edition! They're generally well-spaced and the font is a good size. They also look really neat on a shelf when all together!
Oooo such pretty books, don't usually go for pretty I tend to buy 2nd hand......buuuut the thread classics, I just found The Wizard of Oz which I shall be purchasing!! Thank you for a lovely video....I'm off to watch more of your videos!!xx
I also buy different beautiful versions of books. They don’t have to all look the same. As long as they’re pretty. And there’s all types of pretty for books be it a leather version with gold gilding or a beautiful illustrated cover.
What an enjoyable video! PERSUASION was my first JA to read. 💗 Fell immediately into the story and loved it completely. Presently reading EMMA. To say it is a chore is an understatement. I understand your pain. Jane Fairfax has just arrived on the scene. Determined to persevere ... A beloved classic by so many? I must be missing something or not got there yet. Your classic collection is wonderful. 💐 Thank you for sharing.
Thanks so much for this lovely comment, Hyacinth. I'm so glad you enjoyed the video. Don't get me started on Emma as I will not stop! Worth persevering just to say you have read it but I don't intend to pick it up again!
Oh this was so fun! I collect loads of them. I love the Puffin...I have so many, but I would say go check out the Chiltern "Tess of the d'Urbervilles." Ah, it's just ... everything. I also think the Harper Muse Jane Austen Collection is a triumph. Thanks so much for this fun, fun tour. I love that you have so many of your parents' books. Persuasion is my Austen fave as well!
@@curatoriallyyours Oh, and one thing! That pattern that looked like broccoli? It's Queen Anne's Lace (a white-headed bracket flower). And my husband is from Hurstville!
lovely collections. I'm with you, on the modern reads, i don't really mind what edition i get. I don't keep all my modern reads, only the ones that i want to reread. As for classics, i have a mixture like you. Penguin black spines, a couple of penguin clothbound, vintage red spines. puffin classics, and a mix of a few others. i have the jane austen wordcloud classics and i love thos. I used to get multiple editions of classics, now I only have one edition of each that I want to keep so i make sure to choose wisely. The only exception on multiple copies is Anna Karenina and A Tale of Two Cities - my two favorites. I buy a different edition of those whenever i see one that strikes my fancy :) My favorite classic editions to annotate in are penguin black spines and oxford world classics. I totally destroy those with my annotations :)
I love hearing about other people's collections, so thank you for sharing! I am not an annotator but I imagine that the Penguins in particular would be great for annotating.
I personally think the font size and, more importantly for me, the line spacing in the Penguin Clothbound classics is pretty readable, but others may disagree!
Loved watching this! I'm hoping to read Persuasion before the year is over so I can compare it to the new movie coming out. And OMG that Austen set is adorable I'm going to have to add it to my wishlist.
Omg, I have been looking for that Penguin Threads copy of Little Women with no luck! I live in the States and have been searching online, and apparently they are hard to come by. Lucky you! BTW, have you seen the Cranford series of classic books? They’re hardcover editions, and they are GORGEOUS, although more on the feminine side. Unfortunately they don’t ship to the US. Anyway, loved seeing your collection of books, and yeah, I don’t like collecting from just one series. I like to pick up the editions that appeal to me rather than having a matched set.😊
I found it second hand by chance - my fingers are crossed for you to find your own copy too! I don’t know the Cranford series - I’ll have to look it up.
Great video:) I have also recently done a video on my collection. I collect various editions but my favorite edition of classics to collect classics I love is the Everyman's Library Edition.
Those are beautiful edition! 😍😍😍
Thank you ☺

It's hard to say no to an addition to the classics collection, especially when the price is right!

Thank you 🙂 The clothbound books are truly beautiful - I 100% agree!
Yes welcome to an Aussie...

Oh wow, I hadn’t heard of the Marjolein Bastin classics series but I looked them up and they look stunning!

I love hearing and seeing how people organise their collections! Chronologically makes sense for sure.
Love your editions and collections.
Thank you ☺️ I should film an update soon - my collection has grown!
I look forward to it
Love your collection! I collect penguin classics, the black ones. Both new and used.

Some excellent editions in your list!
Persuasion is my favorite also.
I'm glad I finally found it after being a Pride and Prejudice girlie for so long! I still love P&P but Persuasion is amazing.
Check out Flame Tree Collectable Classic Editions and Everyman’s Library Editions. Thanks for the tour.
Thanks for the suggestion 😊

Isn't the font size of the Penguin Clothbound a bit too small? Doy you find it friendly for reading?

I hate Emma. I don't care who knows it. Lol
I love that Girl Lit collection. The Little Princess and Anne of Green Gables are lovely.
Yeah, Emma is definitely not my favourite Jane Austin novel - she’s an annoying character!
