Oh sister! You just opened the lid on an absolutely amazing rabbit hole that is David Phelps! Don't stop! His earlier songs are mostly when he was singing with the Gaither Vocal Band. He now has his solo work, and even at the age of 54, he is still amazing. His children sing beautifully as well, especially his daughter Maggie Beth Phelps. Go. Go. Go!!!
@@jag03ljg You personally know David?? Yea, he is the best tenor I've ever heard. Love his voice. Would love to hear him with a few other singers and possibly with Voctave. What a sound that could be. 😁😁
@@ronallen6578 yes, I know David personally. We've been going to his Labor Day Barn Bash since 2012, he's been a great mentor to our son, he's gracious and kind. He has a lot of music with other artists.
As a born-again Christian, this is my favorite video on UA-cam. I have been watching it for many years. Singing praise to our Savior Jesus Christ, David's devotion to Christ shines through and inspires Christians to celebrate the birth of our Lord. Blessings to David and to all who watch this video.
Every reactor the first time watching this - First verse, a quiet "Wow" -first chorus, a louder "Wow," Second verse -"Oh, my goodness!" and I'm thinking "Just wait, you ain't seen nothing yet." And then the second chorus, the mouth drops open, then opens wider, then the goosebumps, then the shock and awe!
He sang this about 20 years ago. Anthony Burger was the pianist. Unfortunately he passed away at 44 in 2006. David is classically trained from Baylor University in Texas. He graduated in 1992. He's 53 now and I was fortunate to see him live last year. He hasn't lost a beat.
Been amazed by David Phelps for many years...he's still got it. Listen to his cover of Whitney Houston's, "I Have Nothing,"....you'll be a huge Phelps Phan forever after that...!! Favorite Gospel singer of all-time!!
David started singing with his family as a young boy and really loved it. By the time he got to High School he and his parents realized he had a very gifted voice. He went to College at Baylor University in Waco, Texas where he majored in music. He and his wife decided to move to Nashville to see if he could expand his career in 1996/1997. He auditioned and was hired by Bill Gaither in 1997 to sing in the Gaither Voval band along with Guy Pernod, Mark Lowry and Bill Gaither. He toured and performed with them for 8 years. He took a 4 year break to work on his solo career and then rejoined the Vocal Band in 2009 and performed and toured for 8 more years. He left in 2017 and now tours on his own. He holds 3 concerts at his farm in Culleoka, TN every year called “Barn Bashes” they are two days and about 3-1/2 hours each. One is in April - Mule Day Barn Bash, one is in September-Labor Day Barn Bash and the third is the weekend following Thanksgiving- Christmas Barn Bash. His concerts are amazing. Check out “No More Night” his cover of Whitney Houston’s I Have Nothing is amazing too.

I love to watch reactions to David Phelps. I’m watching it and I’m saying out loud “I know right”. He’s the best tenor on the planet. Definitely anointed.
David is trained in classical (Bel canto) music and started in opera, but soon switched to gospel as it was more authentic for him. He is a singer, composer and arranger. He has A unique style combining pop and classical masterfully. He is well known in American southern gospel music as that is where he first found success and mentoring in his gifts by the well know gospel group "The Gaither Vocal Band." He is just amazing one of a kind talented man. Very down to earth and kind. He sometimes does covers, sometimes writes his own music and sometimes co-writes with others. He has had a long and prolific career, so lots to choose from. He sings every genre except rap and heavy metal. Hope this answers most of your questions.
Your reaction was great! I love it when someone hears David for the first time. He is one of the greatest male vocalists of all time. You are in for an incredible ride going through his music. There's no shortage of amazing live performances to choose from... The Dream, No More Night, We Shall Behold Him, I Have Nothing... also tons from his time with the Gaither Vocal Band (Let Freedom Ring is awesome). Enjoy!
David Phelps has been primarily gospel for 30+ years. He studied "Opera" at Baylor University, and his prof wanted him to go into opera. But ... he wanted to sing Gospel Music. He was with Bill Gaither's Vocal Band for several years. He since has gone out on his own ... we have had him at Landmark Church, Cincinnati, several times. This was recorded at one of Bill's "Homecoming" concerts. Check out "Let Freedom Ring", Carnegie Hall, during the service honoring New York's firefighters who died on 9/11.
There are so many great songs with David solo, with his daughters and many great videos during his many years as part of the Gaither Vocal Band, a Southern Gospel group led by the legendary Bill Gaither. We could name his songs for several days and still add more.
Love this song and your reaction. One of my favorites is The End of the Beginning and another is the Gaither Vocal Band with Let Freedom Ring. His voice is a gift from God to us.

David Phelps pronounced FELPS. David's music professors wanted him to go into opera but he felt a calling to sing gospel for his Lord. For many years he sang Southern Gospel with Bill Gaither and the Gaither Vocal Band. He's sang all his life with first his parents and sisters and now he sings with his children. Two daughters and two sons. His girls tour with him. His sons can sing well too, but one plays guitar for him frequently and the other runs sound. His wife goes with him and runs the merch table AND the family, or so David says. I've seen him many times in concert. I've had conversations with him. He's very humble and has a wicked sense of humor. He's a dedicated family man and devoted to his wife, Lori. They met in college. He's from Texas but moved to Tennessee and have the Phelps Farm. He restored an old dairy barn on his property and it is now a concert hall where he has an annual Labor Day Barn Bash and also Christmas Barn Bash. He has a state of the art recording studio at his farm, too. You'll find his fans are loving and dedicated to him. We calls ourselves "Phans". Once you've heard David sing we say you've been "Phelpsed". The man is phenomenal and can hold a note forever. His Phans swear he has 3 lungs. Whitney considered him as her favorite tenor! He was a vocal major and is a gospel singer who has been doing recently more contemporary themed songs with pathos, elegance and energy now at the age of 53, in better physical shape than ever. He did his classy rendition of I Have Nothing. But you will be touched by any of his playlist on his channel. He gives concerts every fall at his homestead barn with his talented family members as well as tour. More suggestions and comments would be forthcoming from others, especially those who have frequently seen and heard him live.
He is gospel singer that was part of the Gaiter group. Although now, his is on his own, which I had the opportunity of attending on of his concerts in 2022. Another great song he sings is, "We are the reason".
I very much agree with the other comments! I'm a 'Phelps Phan'! Now, aren't you glad you listened to 'O Holy Night' in May!! There is so much more to discover! His cover of 'I Have Nothing' is a must!! He performs several genre! He has just released 'Stories and Songs Vol 2' with has covers of 'Bridge Over Troubled Waters', 'Dust in the Wind', 'Angel', 'I Hope You Dance'.
The music of David Phelps is a wonderful rabbit hole to go down. He is the GOAT. I would recommend Let Freedom Ring (with the Gaither Vocal band), Just as I am (Stories and Songs Volume 1) and Live Like a King to start!

Please react to David Phelp's Most High And Resonate Notes, Agnus Dei a duet with his daughter Maggie, Ave Maria, No More Night, End Of The Beginning, I Have Nothing, and more! The man on the piano, sadly is not with us, is Anthony Berger-phenomenal! Please react to more David Phelps, thank you!

David went to Baylor University, where he studied music. His professor thought he should go into opera, but instead, David chose to sing gospel. He sang with the Gaither Homecoming Group and the Gaither Vocal Band for many years, but left in 2017 (?) to perform on his own. He is married to Lori, and they have 4 children. His daughters Callie and Maggie Beth sing on many songs with him, his son, Grant, has done a couple of songs with him, and I'm not sure what his son, Coby, does. At the age of 52 (he's now 54) David did a cover of Whitney Houston's song, I Have Nothing. Enjoyed your reaction, and just subscribed.

Anthony Burger plays the piano. His rendition of "Exodus" is amazing! I was exhausted for him! Check out: ua-cam.com/video/Pv3pOP2GkKM/v-deo.html His early story from Wikipedia is "At age eight months, he was using a baby walker and fell into a heating duct on the floor of his house.[2][3] He suffered third degree burns on his hands, face and legs. After suffering the burns, Burger's doctor told his parents he was very likely to not be able to move his hands in the future. Despite the odds, Burger recovered. At the age of five, he was accepted at the Cadek Conservatory,[4] University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. A child prodigy, Burger was playing classical piano repertoire within a few years." Make sure you watch through the end.
David Phelps - Christian artist, best tenor in the world. As well as having this amazing vocal gift, he is a gifted and prolific composer. His catalog of music is extensive and you can set off on a journey into his work here on UA-cam. A couple of my favorites of his own composition are "Just As I Am" (ua-cam.com/video/N-n6HNgSuXw/v-deo.html) and "Dead Man Rising" ( ua-cam.com/video/Z4hshN7wuA0/v-deo.html)-- but the list could go on and on.
Years ago when David and his fourteen year old, Maggie, daughter in “Agnus Dei” (live). David sings in Latin and Maggie sing in English. ua-cam.com/video/CIrhABg0QgQ/v-deo.html Years ago (even earlier) when David sang at Carnegie Hall, “The End of the Beginning”. ua-cam.com/video/LrhSjP5988E/v-deo.html Again, David with his now seventeen year old daughter who sings a duet called “Water”. It is a story in a song of Jesus meeting the Samaritan woman at the well (John 4). It is the most beautiful duet I have ever heard. ua-cam.com/video/2VI-lJMRtK8/v-deo.html If you liked his rendition of "O Holy Night", I think you will like all three of these.

He primarily sings religious music. Superb vocals for sure.
Yes, but he has done a lot of 'crossover' music/genre!
React to David Phelps You Will Never Walk Alone and We Shall Behold Him!!! ❤️❤️❤️
Try No More Night, End of the Beginning, I Have Nothing, Just as I Am, Dead Man Rising
Welcome to Phelpsy land. Texas Dave is the best.
Christian singer from Tennessee. Now out of Gaithers and working on his solo career. Also has 2 daughters that are great singers
You should watch his video for the song "we shall behold him"
No More Night by David Phelps
Who he is is the best tenor in the world! I suggest hearing him with Gaither in Let Freedom Ring live at Carnegie Hall about 2001 or 2002.
Great reaction as always!
Please listen to his rendition of "I Have Nothing." He sings it in the SAME KEY as Whitney did!
Also try Ernie Hause and Signature Sound do:
Then Came the Morning
You are good, you are very good, a great host with a great presence, you should consider TV work, very natural.
Different style, but also incredible vocals from Project Aegis, The Rest Is Mystery. But this is unbelievable, also.
Samantha, react to David's song "Heaven's Shore" it will blow your mind yet again
The next song you need to react to of David's is "No More Night (LIVE)".
I have a suggestion for Christmas season. Tim Waurick (Tim Tags) - O’ Come O’ Come Emmanuel ❤
Years ago when David and his fourteen year old, Maggie, daughter in “Agnus Dei” (live). David sings in Latin and Maggie sing in English.

Again, David with his now seventeen year old daughter who sings a duet called “Water”. It is a story in a song of Jesus meeting the Samaritan woman at the well (John 4). It is the most beautiful duet I have ever heard.

If you liked his rendition of "O Holy Night", I think you will like all three of these.

David is just as good today if not better than when this video was made! Thanks for sharing! I'm working at his Labor Day Barn Bash next weekend! Please check out "Water" with David Phelps and his daughter Maggie Beth. Another truly amazing video! ua-cam.com/video/2VI-lJMRtK8/v-deo.html This video is in his barn which he's created into a concert venue where I'll be next weekend.
If you have not listened to David Phelps do Gentle Savior, this will be well worth your time and ears. Much less your heart.
Please go look up and do a reaction to Anthony Burger. He is the piano player in the video
You need to hear the other things he has done.....early as well as latest. NO ONE will ever sing this better!
Easily the best version of the song -- it's really not even close.
Please, react to Júlia Vitória singing Além do Rio Azul. Thank you
Try Conway Twitty "That's My Job"
Can you please react to Tammy Wynette, Til I can make it on my own??? Please!!Please!!
The best version of this song is by Josh Groban. You should listen to it.
