He said he only graded the SGC one a month ago.. and if they estimate that a PSA 10 would fetch $30-$30.5 million, then shit that sounds like big boy money move right there to scoop up that 9.5 SGC for 6 million and take it to PSA. Nice $24million dollar profit! Oh wait sorry $23,999,799.01 (grading fee) 😂
i worked at a bank back in 2008 and brought a guy back to his safety deposit box. and he showed me his mickey mantle rookie card. i kept telling him that im not supposed be shown whats in their boxes. but he insisted. was pretty cool. it was in amazing condition.
The 9.5 1952 Mickey Mantle card isn't actually the finest known example of that card, Marshall Fogel owns a PSA 10 Black Diamond; which is actually the finest of the known 3 PSA 10 cards to exist.
Thank you again to everyone at the national sports card investor booth for being so kind and thoughtful while I was there. Geoff couldn't have been any nicer or more generous with his time (despite being incredibly busy). Cant tell you enough how I very much appreciated you taking the time to talk with me and offer your advice about the Justin Verlander Rookie Auto card. Hearing that you read these comments and appreciate them was really cool. Maybe I'll see you guys again the next time a big show comes around. Hope you have a nice last day today. 🍻
That SGC 9.5 Mantle says right on it that it’s the “Finest Known Example”, which it may very well be, because it looks way better than the PSA 10 Mantle.
It’s because you’re comparing apples to oranges as the ten is PSA and the other like BGS or something. It was the finest known bags example of the BGS if that makes sense.
Yeah, I understand that. I was just making the point that it may truly be the ‘finest known example’. Regardless of the grading company, because it looks a bit better than the PSA Mantle.
The D-Backs Collection 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle PSA-10 was purchased and owned by retired MLB pitcher Tom Candiotti for around $125,000 back in the mid to late 1990s. The Principal Owner of the Arizona Diamond Backs Ken Kendrick purchased it from Candiotti in a private sale. That's a notable pedigree for that card as well. However, the SGC 9.5 appears to be a better example.
weird I wasn’t either, but this dude grows on you, I think I was watching him rip some packs last year or something and was like I can’t with this guy…….but now it’s weird the more you watch him the more you like him and understand his humor, I am sure I sound like an asshole, but I enjoy your content 👊🏽😉
The SGC 9.5 looks better then the 10...It really looks like they got a Generous 10... Beautiful card don't get me wrong but more like a 9 when compared to the 9.5
I can feel the old man's pain giving up the SGC9.5 Mantle. Especially since he kept it so pristine in raw condition for 30 years before grading it. The story of how he cared for it is as amazing as the card itself! I had a similar situation where I acquired what many consider to be the finest 71 PSA9 Nolan Ryan on the planet (no 10's exist). The original owner pack pulled it as a kid at 10 years old. Then maintained it in such flawless shape raw for 47 years before subbing it to PSA in 2018. **It's one of those "un-tenable" cards PSA will never give a 10 to. But politics aside, many agree it should be the first 10. The only reason he sold it to me was because my Topps master PSA set registry for Ryan is ranked #3 all time and he loved my dedication. Plus all of his kids collect Pokémon and hate baseball. 🤣

My Sunday school teacher back in the 90s and early 2000s would have millions worth of cards but he lost his entire collection in a house fire, he had just closed his card shop and stored everything in his home. He used to bring a few of us kids cards to put in out collections, I got a few Jordan cards from him
It'd be super cool if you could do a video that could explain the reasons why these cards fetch the big money like what about that specific card makes it so valuable
Topps had crates of unsold 1952 cards. The buyers wanted the 1953s and so on. So 8 years later they dumped them in the ocean. Face of the franchise, rookie card, great condition, very scarce population overall and soon to be 75 years old equals big money. 👍
Amazing stuff. This showcases the power of elite vintage cards. The Mantles, Wagner, Aaron, and Gretzky far outclass any of the modern and ultra-modern stuff in the video. Although, the Brady Contenders rookie auto probably belongs in that class as well. As for the logoman cards, I'm pretty meh. I know a lot of people really love them, but they don't do anything for me personally. I would never pay that kind of money or anything close to it for those cards.

That Mantle psa 10 has several white speck on the surface of the card. 1st speck 3/4 upper left of card, 2 speck right side upper as well. Let’s face it, there’s no perfect 10’s.
The PSA 10 Mantle is overrated. Should be a 9. And the 9.5 SGC Mantle is underrated. Should be a 10. Incredible how the rating agencies got that backwards.
You missed the Baltimore News Ruth at Collectable. Worth more than anything there other than the Mantle 10 and 9.5.
I collect baseball cards for last 50th years one of the hardest to be graded and the most Rare to found grade PSA 10 only POPULATION 1 Excited on the planet is Ken Griffey Jr upper deck RC #A1 the next holy grail
That was Amazing. Thanks for showing those Gem's. Much appreciated 👊
My home town Atlanta City!
That “10” PSA Mantle vs the 9.5 SGC is everything dishonest about grading, right here for everyone to see. Only a fool would think the “PSA 10” looks better than the SGC 9.5.
