as a person who enjoys pork roll, i had a pork roll n cheese on a toasted rye bagel watch this video, pork roll is very unique in compared to other pork products bc it is lacto fermented very much like kimchi or sauerkraut, which gives it's tangyness. if you do try it dont go for the off brands go for the main 3 Trenton, Taylor, and Case there is a big jump in flavor between those 3 n brands like Hormel's n shoprite's version
@@J8n3eyr3 they can be similar, baloney is normally tuff off cuts of pork beef and chicken that have a high gelatin content which is what is used to create the emulsification. While pork roll gets it it’s cuts from pork butt (which comes from the top shoulder) and belly. You will find hot dogs are very close to baloney. While good pork roll will be completely different. It’s kinda like sourdough of breads. Pork roll is done in a burlap sack normally. Baloney is done in a hard casing both have to be removed. I never had cloth baloney. My only guess is that when you smoke meats in sacks or cheese cloths instead of the hard casing. It will take on a more in depth flavor from the smoking process. Thats why i say the off brands of porkroll are very lack luster. Bc it’s mixed, fermented, then smoked. Good baloney (not really a fan of baloney) is smoked but normally supermarket brands will be hard cased and boiled or steamed.
@@d.mat.zero6525 Cloth bologna made in cloth at the local butcher is dense and all beef. It is much better than a hot dog. Everything my local butcher puts out tastes better bought at his counter than when I buy his products from the local market. It's magic.
@@J8n3eyr3 yeah lol. That is the “magic” of having a butcher. I cant stand supermarket meats. Again i have never had case baloney. It is definitely something that i would try!! Especially since it’s all beef.

My mom and dad both worked and each had different specials on the breakfast shift: dad’s was similar to this, Texas Toast smeared with Miracle Whip, sandwiching an egg fried in an onion ring, hash brown patty, fried Spam and melted American cheese. Man was that good!
I've worked as a line cook in diners and restaurants for years, and I learned to use the egg trays for degreasing bacon years ago at a diner in Ma., Wherever I worked after that I would introduce this technique and it would almost always be implemented... Nice to see some others know about it also!
Lol that's the first thing I noticed I've worked in kitchens too and I've never seen it done but it sure seems like a no brainer now I'm DEFINATLY going to use it
Health departments make you treat eggs as raw chicken so I can’t see them not sighting you for putting a ready to eat product onto a used raw food container.

I used to get a breakfast sandwich from a Diner/truck stop in Trenton NJ near the Trane and American Standard companies. It was called the Belly Buster. Two of everything. Two fried eggs, Two pork roll slices, two sausage patties, two slices of cheese and two slices of bacon on a Kaiser Roll. Still to this day, that was the best breakfast sandwich i've ever had..
My first thought was that it was a good idea, but I'm not sure how sanitary it is. Egg shells can carry salmonella. And if any of the eggs were cracked it could cause cross contamination. Probably the bacon is so hot that it's not a problem but I would use a rack or paper towels on top of the egg cartons just to be safe.
@heartsnob Can't tell you the number of times I have broken an egg in the carton. But that is not the only problem, even eggs that are not broken are not the cleanest. The shell of an unbroken egg can also be contaminated.

Nothing better than a Bec on a hard roll or pork roll egg and cheese on a hard roll. Where I am only 2 places I know have pork roll on the menu. It's not bad but it isn't the same. The rolls aren't the same, I don't know how to describe it but it just isn't the same. The one place I can find pork roll is at Publix grocery store. They carry it near the bacon and hot dogs.

Beautiful sandwiches! Thanks for sharing ❤️
Vacationed in jersey for years. I miss it and this is glorious. Pork roll is the bomb
Was sold on every Jersey boardwalk I ever visited!
Those breakfast sandwiches (rolls) look absolutely banging, now I'm hungry
I am not paying for a ghetto house burger!!

Nothing says Jersey like a Pork roll egg and Cheese on a hard roll ! yum. Loved this video.
My god those sandwiches are a thing of beauty! I loved these guys when they had a truck and now I have to get to the store!!..
They look like they do a great job !
@@julianhoward4745 oh trust me they do, I used to eat at the truck so I could imagine the store...mmmmmm
I grew up in Bucks County, PA a northern suburb of Philly. I love Taylor or Casey's pork roll. Yes, fry a couple slices until crispy fry an egg slap a piece of New Yorker American cheese all on a hard/ or Kaiser roll. Nothing like a central north east Kaiser/ hard roll.
Taylor 4 me .
Pork roll/Taylor Ham is named after John Taylor whom I believe developed this awesome breakfast meat!! It's as if bacon, sausage & ham came together! ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS 👍🏿🥰
I grew up in central Jersey. Picked up a pork roll sammich every day at the local store. I miss those days.
can't get it on the West coast. got stopped by TSA going thru La Guardia with 6 packs of Taylor Ham. They let it pass when the saw what it was
You better Google that. LOL
The Taylor Ham/Pork Roll debate will continue forever. Here in Wilmington NC we can buy Taylor Ham in our local supermarket Harris Teeter. Kaiser roll, yellow American cheese, fried egg ketchup and of course Taylor Ham/Pork Roll. Always a great thing to eat.
@@hank927Spread the word! It is Taylor Ham!! All the rest are inferior fakes!
Buy this guy a couple more presses!
And stop waisting the ends of those peppers
Nah. Part of the process. Wouldn't be the same. Staggers the texture. Offset.
😂😂😂😂
Absolutely right
For what? He's doing fine
A really satisfying video. These sandwiches are delicious! Wish they were in Los Angeles!
Me too
Taylor Pork Roll is available up in Saratoga Springs NY and Lake George NY because there are so many Jersey exiles up here.
Jersey exiles 😂
I like how you exaggerate NY like we should be impressed 😂😂😂
@@McGullicutty Long Island too...escape from the NYC area!

I remember eating Taylor pork roll on a hard roll in New Jersey it was delicious. Now the best hotdogs bar none is Jimmy Buffs in New Jersey
I can imagine how nice it would be to have one of these with a cup of hot chocolate on a winter morning 😋❤
Very satisfying that would be.
Weird combo. Hot chocolate after would be great though.
It's lookin like the world has learned the value of cabbage 😊. It really does compliment many foods. Thank you Asia.
I loved watching this.....I work in healthcare so way different than what this is.....I can't imagine all the work this person does all day!!! They made is look so easy and I am sure they have a system but...kuddos to them....this would be hard for me....plus they look delishious!!!!
It's hard work, but your work is also stressful in different ways. Gotta keep the healthcare people fed with yummy food to keep em going! 😁👍
That pork roll egg and cheese sandwich is the bomb. love pork roll cooked on the grill in the summer with tomatoes out of the garden and a fresh roll with mayo not a big fan of those frozen hockey puck hash browns or those tater tots passing as home fries I like the real thing when it comes to them
Based potato enjoyer.
I'm guessing fresh potatoes don't make the cooking time.
I am from Washington DC, grew up going to Wildwood NJ, the Talor Roll Pork Stand on the Broadwalk the Best Sandwich, so many Happy Memories of Belvoved Grandmother & Grandfather....
as a person who enjoys pork roll, i had a pork roll n cheese on a toasted rye bagel watch this video, pork roll is very unique in compared to other pork products bc it is lacto fermented very much like kimchi or sauerkraut, which gives it's tangyness. if you do try it dont go for the off brands go for the main 3 Trenton, Taylor, and Case there is a big jump in flavor between those 3 n brands like Hormel's n shoprite's version
Is this also known as "cloth baloney"? It has a much deeper flavor and different texture than other bologna.
I am born and raised in Jersey and grew up on Pork Roll, I absolutely love it, I currently live in the Seattle Washington area and am so grateful that I can find it out here, so nostalgic
Where??? I'm in Seattle
where do you find those pork rolls in Seattle? I live in that area.
My mom and dad both worked and each had different specials on the breakfast shift: dad’s was similar to this, Texas Toast smeared with Miracle Whip, sandwiching an egg fried in an onion ring, hash brown patty, fried Spam and melted American cheese. Man was that good!
@@ShedArt2011Fred Meyer sometimes has Taylor. I know I have seen it in Kirkland and Redmond Fred Meyer.
@@abbylynn8872 Fred Meyer. They have Taylor.
True professional. The offset shingle on the pork roll gives better coverage on the hard roll. Beautiful.
I've worked as a line cook in diners and restaurants for years, and I learned to use the egg trays for degreasing bacon years ago at a diner in Ma., Wherever I worked after that I would introduce this technique and it would almost always be implemented... Nice to see some others know about it also!
Isn't that dirty though?
yeah i was also doing that too. figured i invented it.
That is cool that you pay it forward by mentoring! :-)
Regardless of whether referred to as "Pork Roll" or "Taylor's Prepared Ham", it' is a New Jersey favorite.
Do you know anything about the nutrition facts? it looks like 50% fat. I went to the website, but could not find anything regarding the fat content.

The peppers and onions...Yeah baby!!

Omg I just found this channel and it is soo 😌 relaxing
Hello:)
Fried bologna is a lost art. And absolutely delicious as a breakfast sandwich. Great job chef. 😊
Wow, I love watching foodie shows💕🇺🇸
Hello:)
Yup, and the best part is unbroken eggs. They must be runy to drip over it all.
No scrambled!
Compliments to the chef...looks DELICIOUS 😋🥪
Breakfast food always hits! 🔥🔥🔥🔥
In Philly a pork roll sandwich, in my house growing up they were called Mexican round steak sandwiches🤣
Lmfao 🤣 😂
Best kinda grub video-all show, no tell … nothing but the goods. 🤟
The one thing I miss moving out of jersey, a diner sloppy egg, pork roll and cheese sandwich.
Yeah me too
Yeah me too, and I’m not from New Jersey
I worked in a kitchen for 15 years. Im ashamed/embarrassed that I never thought of using the egg cartons as a grease absorber. Pro move dude.
Wasn't that idea fantastic!!😊
I know. I actually paused the video at that point. What a great bacon kitchen hack. Brilliant
What's wrong with old rolls?
@heartsnob Can't tell you the number of times I have broken an egg in the carton. But that is not the only problem, even eggs that are not broken are not the cleanest. The shell of an unbroken egg can also be contaminated.
Sandwiches look delicious! I thought it was fried baloney from the thumbnail. Reminded me of the fried baloney sandwiches I used to get at Dave’s Dive In a little on site restaurant at my local sky diving DZ. Looks like you have pretty even heat on that griddle! 😊
Omg you guys are amazing The sandwiches are killing me. I want to taste them all. 😁♥️♥️♥️
Given the apparent cholesterol content, they likely will kill you. :-)
I'm surprised southern states haven't caught on to porkroll yet... its seems like it would be right up their alley
I'm actually really surprised myself. I've worked diners across the country and as much as they love breakfast food and fried bologna but you really don't see the pork roll on many menus at all 🤷♀️
Well we have fried baloney sandwiches down south. But that pork roll looks good
NYC girl but family lived all over NJ. I moved to the south over 20 years ago and really miss a good diner or corner bodega.
@@mhwillet it's also in their deli section, you can order it sliced to your liking
They have something similar to it, luncheon loaf.
Taylor Ham with egg and cheese on a fried hard roll - nothing better in the morning with a good cup of coffee. I buy a full Taylor pork roll whenever I go back to Jersey. Born in Morristown.
I used to be proud of my grilled pork roll sandwiches, then I saw these masterpieces. Definitely taking a trip over for a few of these!
Taylor Ham! 😂😉
Absolutely Taylor Ham! Never 14:00 pork roll.
Nice, I love watching Diners, Drive Ins and Dives. New Jersey, Diner capital of the US. Such good looking food. Bury me under the floor with the 64 different kind's of omelet's.
I have learned so much by watching this. Thank you.🌹
You can sometimes find pork roll or Taylor ham away from New Jersey but I think it's harder to find those hard rolls in other places.
Yeah try asking for a sandwich on a hard roll in the south. They think its a stale roll. LOL
Long story short - I was in Ohio visiting and we stopped at a diner and asked for a sausage egg cheese on a HARD ROLL. Had no idea what a hard roll was. It came on a hamburger bun. Disgusting!
My parents can sometimes find Taylor ham in VA and Ingles in GA sells it.
@@modtwentyeight I feel bad for people outside of NJ not knowing what real Italian food is, real pizza, and Taylor ham. Found a deli in GA just north of Atlanta. The owners are from Newark. They have all their ingredients sent down. Real homemade Jersey bagels. Right down the road is a pizza place, owner is from Brooklyn. Real pizza.
Its hard to beat a fried bologna and egg with cheese with what ever other ingredients you want to add I been eating them for years .😋😋
Pork roll is an amazing tasty meat. Wish we could get it other places in us. I miss it so much since leaving nj
I also do something similar using Mortadella instead of the pork roll.... the roll is important too.
Now that's what I call a BREAKY SANDWICH!🤗👍🏻👍🏻
Nothing like a breakfast sandwich from NJ Omg my mouth is watering 😋
