A real treasure!!precise and swingin band,it was certainly one of the best jazz bands in Europe at that time.It reminds me some tunes made by Dutch Ramblers or the British bands with Benny Carter as well as some Swedish group of the thirties.Thank you!!

Veramente deliziosa testimonianza di come l'idioma jazzistico fosse già presente nelle grandi orchestre in Germania; dove addirittura già nel 1927 esisteva una scuola di jazz, ancor prima che fosse istituita negli USA 🎶😉

Notice how the bass notes are allowed to "ring." This stressed the downbeats enough to keep a brake on the momentum of the performance and kept German bands sounding "polite."
At somewhat slower tempos the "ring" could be taken over by the guitar to keep it from feeling too heavy, but it was a key ingredient of the German style.

I get the feeling that German bands' adherence to strict tempo, of which 'ringing' is part, played into their defense against fostering 'decadent' Kultur. By remembering that this is dance music, and sticking to a steady beat, the bands made it easier to dance in time to it. Masses of couples rubbing shoulders as they whirled round the floor could be sold as a modern version of the 'folk community' enjoying itself communally.
Whatever the ideological excuses, the discipline of the typical Tanzorchester allows the skill of instrumentalists to be savored more than in some hot US outfits of the time, and makes for a pleasant change.

Anders Liljevall Actually, is is not German music but it was arranged by a German orchestra in an excellent sort of way. Making German lyrics to it just shows the spirit of the third-reich- period. Good musicians knew what good music is but they were restricted by nazi ideology.
Henry Seidel yes I know I mean the gemans were Good musicians. Also in Sweden were Good bands Arne Hulphers (Zarah Leanders ex and Håkan von Eichwald)

Eine hervorragende Aufnahme auf dem toll restaurierem Phonosessel,meiner befindet sich derzeit auch bei der Instandsetzung.
Ich hatte auch mal so ein Teil, das nannte sich aber 'Radioteewagen'.
Als Phonosessel zu bezeichnen ist irreführend. Zum Sitzen ist der
Wagen jedenfalls nicht vorgesehen. Trotzdem vielen Dank für die vielen
schönen Aufnahmen des 'Deutschlandsenders !

These are real glass-covers. The colour is called "Rauch-schwarz" and they are from 1939 to 1940. It´s a Telefunken Sessel Phono-Super 3976 WKS.

Peter Schmidt Es gibt eine ganze Reihe von Aufnahmen dieses Titels. Auch Dean Martin hat es einst vertont. Aber als echte Big-Band-Arrangements ist es wohl eher selten.
