2020 Silverstone Auction Race Retro Classic & competition car sale preview

- Silverstone Auctions are hosting a two-day auction this Friday (21st February) and Saturday (22nd February) at the Race Retro show at Stoneleigh Park near Coventry and I was these yesterday doing a preview of some of the star cars included in the sale. Public viewing for both the competition cars and road cars opens tomorrow, Friday 21st February, with the sale of the competition cars starting at 2:30pm sharp the same day.
The road car auction starts at 1:30pm prompt on Saturday 22nd February.

@@dereknicol5284 I did think that any American viewers would be a bit miffed that he walked straight past that to look at a Capri! The Camaro and Mustangs at least got a mention though.

Top Gear’s dead in the water (no style or grace). The Grand Tour has been effectively axed. Schmee gone all smug and self satisfied. Harry is now the King of car TV. What a guy!
James Bruce And Top Gear had style and grace in the past? It was just an entertainment show. Clarkson saying wastegate flutter proves he has no clue about how cars work.

Harry combines encyclopaedic knowledge, infectious enthusiasm, impeccable taste, enormous pedigree and unprecedented access. Harry Metcalfe is one of 2 automotive UA-camrs (Chris Harris) that is worth a damn.
Bravo Harry- Top shelf review as always and a wonderful way to spend 20 minutes dreaming :-)
Chris Harris doesn't give a fuck about UA-cam as long as he's getting those big fat BBC wages. Shame as they have completely dumbed him down to unwatchable on Top Gear.

My mate puts cosworths and Porsche’s in Silverstone , you could buy them direct off him but he prefers not answering stupid questions off idiots with no money or geeks that think 40 year old used performance cars will be showroom fresh like new plus two idiots together bump up prices .
He buys them off eBay and forums and just waves the thought of his money around ... Hey Presto !!

Every car..... Just amazing. I had a crush on the Countach, as most kids, and sent Portman a letter expressing my interest in buying one. They sent me back a few brochures, must have been obvious it was written by a 10 year old. I still dream about owning one.
I could listen to Harry talk Cars all day. His knowledge and enthusisam is a gift

The videography quality is off the scale, the depth of field 😍 beautiful crisp image. Not seen this high quality before on YT or TV.
The jag race cars with spares for 200-250k is a flat out steal for anyone wishing to go racing in a series. It would cost millions to put that together. And the Prodrive Aston Martin with additional aston and spares for 90-110k are incredible.

PT82 it’s a manual, I just looked on the website, reserve is 24500, it won’t go for that but damn that low.

These are my favorite Harry videos. I wouldn't mind if he did a three or four part series and covered all the cars. He's so excited about them too, so knowledgeable and it's just a pleasure to spend time with Harry at the auctions. And I want him to buy that Ferrari FF. I know he will someday.
The reason these videos are so successful is because Harry knows what he is talking about and he very obviously enjoys talking about cars and gets as excited as we would if we were there! His enthusiasm is infectious! Well done Harry! If I had the cash I would have had to bid on the 2 rally V8 vantages! P.S. Every time I see a V8 Vantage i'm reminded how beautiful and timeless that design is and how unsuccessful the current one is! (For me it's the headlights on the new one they just look generic to my eyes).
I would watch a 4 hour version of this.

Love the orange countach from Portman lambo in George street, well, use to be back in the eighties, i remember going there and viewing some awesome cars including a all yellow countach 5000qv. Those were the most finest days.
Your story of the Hyena is spot on Harry. Sadly Fiat ultimately didn't sanction it, refusing to supply Zagato with the Integrale parts, so Zagato had to buy brand new Integrales and chop them to make each Hyena. That's the reason so few were made, as this process made each car eye-wateringly expensive and Paul Koot could find few takers.
Being here on the east coast of Australia, I just LOVE soaking up what you have to say and see.

That TVR SE AC is awesome, I always thought of TVR as the bumbling one who always had good intentions but never executed them properly - until now. However, I've always had a soft spot in my heart for TVR's and their design.
I've had my second Griffith now for 9 years and yes their build quality and reliability aren't like mass produced cars but they really get under your skin. The best thing about them is the public's reaction and the fact that unlike a lot of performance cars you don't have to be wringing its neck to have a grin on your face. And the noise of course! :)
