This was channels 4 debut PPV here in the UK, I watched it live (unfortunately I had school the next morning). What was we greeted to? Mae Young taking her top off leading to a 50 minute delay on future PPV in the UK for the remainder for 2000
Fun fact with the "Shut up juice" line, it was written by a former writer from Late Night with Conan O'Brien named Tommy Blacha, which was inspired by something Conan used to say as a joke in the writer's room. Per Conan on The Howard Stern Show: "One of my put-downs that I came up with that was so stupid but I liked it was I told, if a writer was going on or said something I didn't like, I'd say 'why don't you go have a nice tall glass of shut up juice.' (...) It was such a stupid put-down but Tommy liked it. And then Tommy said watch the match this weekend and it was The Rock [saying the catchphrase] and the crowd went crazy. Then the next week Tommy said check this out, so I turn in that match, people are holding up signs that say 'drink some shut up juice.'" Kinda funny coincidence there with that being said on the same show that Conan's sidekick Andy Richter appeared on.
So it's really sad that I noticed this, but the fan next to CM Punk at MITB 2011 was also in the crowd in both Punk's returns in both AEW and WWE. So now you know this dude never changed a thing.
The Taz debut is made all the more baffling when you see where he'd be one year later. Taz plummeted down the card as fast as Angle rocketed up it. He looked like he was going to be a really big deal in WWF with this debut.
Johnny Valiant was called Johnny V. during his manager run in the early 80s when he managed The Dream Team of Brutus Beefcake and Greg Valentine. Who's dream that was, I do not know.

When Channel 4 aired their 1st episode of Heat, i couldn't believe it when they announced that this Royal Rumble was going to be aired on Channel 4. It was unprecedented to have a WWE PPV on Terrestrial TV
I'm with you on the defense of Triple H's "My Time" entrance theme, Jack. Triple H didn't even use that theme for very long(I think that "My Time" was used probably for a year and a half, if not almost a year and a half before he switched to using "The Game" by Motorhead in November 2000 before Survivor Series). "My Time" is totally underrated. I loved that theme back in the Attitude Era & I still love it now! It's a major nostalgic trip to the Nintendo 64 video game WWF No Mercy
I didn't mind the Rumble match because of how intense the co-main was- felt nice to finish the ppv by having a breather. King of the Ring 98 was similar in that regard
I’m surprised that you would choose Davey Boy Smiths win at wembly over him almost winning the rumble as the second entry. It makes more sense to do a callback to his biggest moment in the same match. Just my opinion
The barbed wire bat shenanigans with Hebner and the Spanish announcers was put together so they could switch the bats around. The first one was actual barbed wire, the second one (that they handed back to Foley) was a different bat altogether and rubber wire
Chokes aren’t really “legal” in pro wrestling. That’s why refs always looked at and checked the arm placement of anyone doing a sleeper hold on anyone to make sure they didn’t turn it into a choke. These rules were kinda forgotten about as UFC became popular.

I could not agree more with the split crowd whatever you want to call it the rock has been doing. It might sound good and look and be fun in attendance, but on TV it takes too damn long and it's pretty terrible. This was the first pay-per-view I ever saw. Live on TV. Before I just rented VHS's. I have friends who watched ECW and I remembered just being pumped on this guy, Taz because of how much they built him up
Non Big 5 PPVs in 2000 > Big 5 PPVs in 2000. Think about it. RR was weird according to Jack, WM2000 was mediocre, King of the Ring was the worst show of the year, Summerslam was the best one, but had moments of weirdness like the Thong Stinkface match & Survivor Series was half baked with a no contest main event. All other PPVs were pretty great.
Remember watching this when I was about 5/6 years old when my older brothers friend let me borrow it to distract me from being annoying and wanting to play with them😅 so much nostalgia and love for this ppv! Awesome memories.
Kurt Angle ended up being the greatest all-around wrestler of all time. Everything he touched was gold. whether it was beastiality sex with queen Sharmel or just doing the craziest stuff in TNA.... the man is wrestling perfection.

Damn I miss seeing Taz "No sell🖕" during matches back before he hit WWE, the only times I enjoyed the no selling "move" more was probably Surfer Sting and Undertaker because his was an entirely different type of No Sell with the slow sit up sometimes actually surprising people when he did it, it was So powerful that crowds fell silent when he couldn't do it. But I digress, ultimately I just wish I had gotten to see Taz in his prime get a well deserved run in a bigger company. The man was a beast when he was able, I liked him so much I carved "FTW" in the end of my favorite baseball bat and stained it as an engraving. It looked awesome. 😄👍

H accidentally got a big ass chunk of wood from the pallet in his leg too. Brutal yet great match. Foley was THAT guy WWE used when they wanted a wrestler to step up to the main event.

The Rock is so cringe now. But when his character was hunting the WWE title, he was at his best on the mic. Ever since he became bigger than wrestling, his character lost its edge. But 2000 Rock didn't smile, spoke in the third person and talked the best smack of his career
I believe when the barbed wire 2x4 went under the Spanish announce table, it was to swap it out for gimmicked barbed wire for the head shots afterwards. Which is super smart.
