Since I was a child listening and learning from this teacher Robby Ameen with the Ruben Blades records, his concept, technique and style on drums always caught my attention, one of the few who explain in English and Spanish, there is a lot of musical richness and I am very blessed for this video, thanks for uploading it.
Oh man, I had the book and an audio cassette. Super upload. Super find. Thank you. This and the Frank Malabe Book on Afro Cuban rhythms for the drumkit is an extensive course in itself.
Miss the days my friend and I would jam to these over 20 years ago! The guitarist looking like Greg Kinnear and Bunny Brunell had a baby... Mabey a lil Stephen King
This is a masterpiece. I never knew anything else about Robbie Ameen, after he played with Rubén Blades in the 80's 90's i guess. A great drummer. Bassist Lincoln is also a great performer. I'm enyoing this a lot because i have a set of congas and i try to follow them, even improvising... thanks a lot for making this freely available ...
a lot of the wonderful Afro Cuban and Brazilian figures are difficult to notate to say the least .,,,,ultimately it is best to hear it,,,that goes a long way to understanding it ,and of course executing it and playing it ,,,,,it is an art not a science,,,,,best bet ,,,meet and play with the homeboys from these countries in the park or on the gig and if they like you,,,you will learn Damn fast,,,,
Great and inspired playing by all.......but WHY is it recorded so flat ?? All cymbals are buried by bass, and piano. Highs need to come way up. Robby is playing very strongly on cowbell and HH and ride but they are buried....they drive the band and should be equal in volume to the rest of the band.....if I were in a studio audience here, it would sound/feel completely different because the live sound would not be mixed so far down by the techs.

Being this much funky could result in an unauthorizingly high level of groove. Do not reproduce at home
