Not gonna lie,,, it did bring tears to mine!! I wish I could have met him before he passed away. Great great man and I am so glad the audience gave him such a great welcome and love.
I'm from the U.S. but here in Minnesota some of us got CBC in the 80's. Mr Dressup was my favorite show when I was a kid. Most people have no idea what I'm talking about when I bring it up today. I feel very fortunate to be one of the few kids from the States who was able to have Mr Dressup in my life.
This was from when Canada was still Canada. This show would not be allowed today. It would be some alt left garbage. Defund the cbc it’s just the propaganda arm of the liberal party.
As someone from Michigan, the only thing that could make this more nostalgically Canadian is if he walked out with Muffy from Today's Special to The Raccoon's theme song.
Only way Ernie Coombs would've been on TPBs is in season 1 & 2, they shot those seasons in 2000 & 2001 & I doubt he wouldve agreed to be on the show knowing the shows content. But if he did, his episode would DEFINITELY be my favorite.
I would have been like that crowd back then. Even when I was a teenager, I used to come home for lunch from high school, turn on the TV and his show would be on, I would sit and watch it and sometimes be late getting back to class cause I just enjoyed it. He was just fun to watch. A lot of the kids at school were still that way with his show. They would ask why I was late getting back to class, I told them, I was watching Mr. Dressup. They would just laugh and say they would have done the same.
I can tell by your comment, user name and pfp that you never grew up and are still a perma-kid. I wonder if you will ever move out of mom's basement now...
@@Mohawks_and_TomahawksI can tell by your username you live on a reserve. I don't really think that. But THATs how ignorant your comment was so get bent
Watching Jonovision after school, as that was the first thing on during the day. I was expecting there to be archives in perfect quality of all the episodes, but after years, there's still nothing, but low quality bits. Even Red Green show has a full catalogue online. E.N.G was available briefly, before it was taken down, but at least I know a good capture set exists. Jonovision was part of culture. Street Cents - another show that is nostalgic. Official channels have some modern episodes, but it ain't the same selection. All the good stuff is gone. I can't believe no one was recording.
MR Dressup, Polka A Dot Door, Sharron Lois & Bram & Degrassi. Now that's Canada. Add some Friendly Giant @ all would be perfect. The world so needs a little Ernie Coombes & MR Dressup right about now.
Almost brought tears to my eyes to see how much love he got from that crowd. I know how they feel.
Yup.
The dude was more of a father to me that my own when I was young.
Yes!! Me too! I love Mr Dress-up
Not gonna lie,,, it did bring tears to mine!! I wish I could have met him before he passed away. Great great man and I am so glad the audience gave him such a great welcome and love.
They can't not be feelin' this.

That Rainbow Connection s**t was really JRoc. This clip brings me back, I remember watching Mr Dressup in the early 80s.

Reed Richards I know how that is. I grew up near the border to mexico and experienced Dragonball 10 years before it came on in the states.
I'm from Michigan and in the same boat as you.

Mr. Dressup was an American, ironically.
Oh man... I loved this man. Still do. Just seeing his face is almost overwhelming.
He was such a huge part of my childhood.
As someone from Michigan, the only thing that could make this more nostalgically Canadian is if he walked out with Muffy from Today's Special to The Raccoon's theme song.
I had never seen this before. It was great! I watched his show all the time growing up in the 1980’s.
If he had still been alive, Mr. Dressup would have been an excellent guest star on The Trailer Park Boys.
Hmmm...how would he fit in ?
They got Rita McNeil in there somewhere
Only way Ernie Coombs would've been on TPBs is in season 1 & 2, they shot those seasons in 2000 & 2001 & I doubt he wouldve agreed to be on the show knowing the shows content.

Degrassi guests, mr dressup, and sharon, lois, and bram, all on one show? This is worthy of three separate episodes, especially in Canada
Don't forget the Polka Dot door mascot in the audience

He actually did do a giant degrassi reunion episode. I think it might have even been a two parter

Mr Dressup is a national treasure see all those people in the crowd? They gotta be easy 18-25 and they turning up
They are all adults now and were cheering him on because we ALL used to watch him on CBC
He raised so many generations of Canadians. A true Canadian icon.
I love that these Gen Xers went Buck wild over a children’s TV icon. ❤
That was a great Rock Star entrance! Mr Dressup really rocked!
That man was like a 2nd father to many children!😀💕

I remember not being a big fan of Jonovision but DAMN this clip tugged at a the heart strings.
I met Mr. Dressup once for an autograph and couldn't believe it was actually him. He laughed and said yes it's the real me!
Mr. dressup and Fred penner the best of their time
Mr. dressup was loved by all and will be loved forever
What is amazing about this man is that this was an audience of highly respectful teenagers. He just commanded it through kindness.

Everyone who saw mr. dressup loved him

Mr. Dressup was my childhood hero.
Mine as well. Now I act in theatre shows called Pantone every December.

Mr Dressup was born in the United States
He was born in Maine. And was good friends with his mentor, Mr. Rogers.
Hilariously enough, while Mr. Dressup is American, Mr. Rogers is Canadian.
He was my neighbor in pickering. His Halloween house Designs where amazing
I’m lucky to have met Ernie before he died. He was such a sweet man. I grew up watching him daily on channel 10 CBC, those days were the best.
The most Canadian American we ever had.
Growing up with CBC Windsor in Detroit, it was weird seeing Jono on TPB, not the other way around 😂
I am from Windsor Ontario and spotted mr. Dressup at a restaurant here as a kid. I loved the show since a small kid.
J-Roc interviewing Mr. Dressup! Awesome!
The punk rocker question was so good.
