This means so much to me as a neurodivergent person with a history of severe mental health challenges, wanting to become a doctor. Thankyou!!! It is so appreciated to everyone in this video, thankyou for sharing ☺️.
You don’t know how encourage this short reel is ❤❤ thank you so much for speaking up
Thank you for doing this video! This video brought me to tears!!😢
YES! Mental health and professional success!
Thanks for your videos Dr. 😉❤️
Im gonna be dead serious with you all. Sometimes the best mental health physicians are those who have the same shit as you.
Until a malpractice suit comes up. Even if they didn’t do malpractice. They still drag you through the mud and try to paint as crazy and irresponsible.
Exactly. Books can teach a lot but you can't beat life experience.
@@AG-yc7vt there is no need to disclose to the patient your own medical history.
@@ayb480 Not to the patient.
When they do Discovery in court, they will learn about the mental health and use that as their new angle to attack your abilities.
Yupppp. My doctor with ADHD was absolutely my best doctor ever.
I have extreme fear and anxiety and panic attacks i failed 2yrs gettin into medschool doubting myself so much this video helped alot i will help people and be amazing at it even if i suffer myself
We are all imperfect and that is perfect this way! 😊❤ why physicians should be super heros ? They are just like us and that's what comforts me, they understand our struggles
Love this, especially doctors who treat the conditions they have, as it help the doctors emphasize with their patients.
Thank you so much for sharing this. It's incredibly impactful.
I'm medical student, i recovered from depression and social anxiety (DURING medical school), i still receive treatment and I'm looking forward to become a neurologist or a palliative care doctor someday💪
PS:Med school in my country is 6 years, I'm on my 5th year
this made me cry this morning because im going thru a terrible severe anxiety/depressive episode now after losing my mom a few months ago and it gives me hope
Love to all the work you do ❤

I have adhd and it’s not holding me back from being a musician
This is so inspiring
This was very inspiring ❤
I'm a psychologist and I struggle with anxiety, OCD and I had a burnout before (when I was in college). BUT I went on therapy and got better. My mental health issues does not affect my work, because if you do therapy or/and take medication, you are able to deal with it in a healthy way. And a lot of psychologist's are on therapy as well even if they don't have a mental health condition. So don't let your fears stop you from chasing your dreams 🙏 👊
Absolutely, seeking help and therapy can make a world of difference. I talk about mental health on my channel, too.
Thank god❤
I've avoided getting help for a long time and still haven't gotten it. One of the biggest reasons is the fear I'll be denied the ability to work in my desired field due to it.
Anyone can. I had a doctor with CP. Best doctor ever. He'd listen, help and call to check on you with more information to help. He always went over and above for his patients even though it was more physically challenging. HE'S AN HONORABLE MAN ❤
Thanks for getting us together to make this powerful statement, Jake! Onwards and upwards!
Inspiring . Thank you ❤
Proud of you all very inspiring and motivating
You're so inspirational and so supporting as if you could be my big brother!
When read so much about your own disease that you become a certified expert 😮
Of course you can!
I am in medical school and I have Depression, GAD, Panic Disorder, ADHD, and OCD. You can totally make it regardless of what you have!
I needed this today.
Thank you 💜
kinda love this
Thank you ❤
Thank you you guys inspired more than yk, I was in my last year of engineering when I realized medicine is my passion. But then life happened, my world life turned upside down. Just yesterday I thought it would be impossible to become a doc with schizoaffective and I didn't want to even think abt it bcs I was scared to hope especially under the circumstance I'm in rn. I gave up the thought of becoming one several times, but seeing all these people can achieve their dream career it's just.. kinda giving me feeling that it's not that impossible. Congratulations to you all
I have really bad adhd but when I got medicated, everything changed and I could use my brain again. I still have issues tho, and they said I needed to stick my future hopeful doctor ass in the ER 😂
What a wonderful video 😍😍😍
This is so cool
I think 🤔 the right question should be: Can you be a successful doctor and not acquire a mental disorder?
I will say this… I’m not a doctor but I have been a clinical mental health professional and formerly had a serious mental illness (at the same time). In general I’m absolutely fine with people going into a field they are passionate about and things like mental health or addiction etc should not automatically stop them. HOWEVER! The key to this is remembering that what helped us, may NOT be the approach needed for another person. Therefore! All the same work needs to be done to learn and grow and process in order to help people effectively. Secondly, we cannot automatically dump our struggles on a patient because we have a similar story. While sometimes there may be cause to share, any person (even those without mental health issues!) need to decide WHY do they want to share the information and will it help the patient or is for the benefit of the clinician! I state this because I have seen these mistakes a lot (and sometimes been on the receiving end of them) and they can cause harm. But simply having a medical issue of any type does NOT automatically discount someone from being a doctor (or any form of health or community profession)!!
and guess what? i'd bet money you'd be better listened to and better understood by one of these doctors while coming to them for a problem than you would the average neurotypical doc. BRAVO
Yes
💗
Way to go, Powerfuly vulnerable women! I love the ADHD clinical specialist. Gonna call her Monday.
Just by chance, any way male docs would be willing to admit their mental health challenges? It might look a little less like you’re just trying to make ladies look crazy. Thanks.
Plenty of docs are like recovering addicts / alcoholics… or active ;o) along with other stuff like NPD, maybe I’m guessing or personality challenges or depression.
It happens in every industry. Better to own up and get treatment than let challenges drag you down. Cheers to those successful and honestly brave docs!!!

Can I ask u smthg? Is it worth taking medicine even aftr 3 yrs of ur clss 12th?

(FACTS OVA FEELINGS). Most drs do have mental illness
These docs should look into detoxing their body from all the crap causing these conditions

What if your slower at processing information than others 🤦🏽♂️
I wouldn't go to any of these quacks.

Schizofrenia?
bruh how do you have a mental health condition as a psychiatrist. just look at your notes
That was hillariously motivating😂.
Adhd doctor with adhd, a pysch doc with depression..
Here i am med student with adhd.
How do you manage med school with ADHD? I’m deciding between med school and PA school and I’m nervous of my ability to focus and be motivated. I’m not on medication atm. Would you recommend going on meds?
@@shanepierce2330 you really shoudnt be asking me. I struggle with continuity. Still depend on last moment adrenaline rush to hit in just before exams.. Im a train wreak but somehow manage.
I hope medicine is your true passion, only then you should pursue it. It might be glamorous with the respectable degree and nice pay, but it can wreak havoc on your mental health.. And for us nuerodivergents it can be too much of a struggle. I myself am still not sure where i will fit in after med school, hence my orignal comment.
I have bipolar disorder and I am a doctor, so this is so relatable
Did you report it to your medical board?

@@Azula524 medical school is like being on a rollercoaster that doesn't stop. You will have your highs and lows. Your relationships, friends or even your families can screw you up. You will feel like giving up many times. I used to feel like that many times per day. The imposter syndrome hits you so badly. But when you are passionate about it, it totally becomes worth it. Just believe yourself, and you will be fine. There's a saying - take medicine and your life is set, and while it may sound so good to be true, it actually is provided you love what you actually end up doing and trust yourself and never give up on yourself in the process. Make mistakes, fall in love, screw up a couple of times, and you will figure things out along the way. Remember, never run a race when you know almost every single one of them have their own destinations. Take your own time, and take one baby step at a time, and you will be rewarded at some point generously, provided you have immense love for medicine.
I have schizophrenia ( severe congnitive retardation) and it's not holding me back from getting to the day when I'll get recover
Thank you for inspiring us! I also don't know many doctors with physical disabilities.. I have an incomplete SCI from an MVA at age 4, completed my degree and most of my training in Australia but couldn't finish and now I'm here on that pathway again..
Very reassuring. My kids are both doctors and suffer from anxiety and depression
Our conditions serve us to empathize with our patients, they also help hyperfocus, which can help, too
!!💥💥HEY!!!!🤪!!!
jumps in the doctor with ADHD
-hilarious
Great to hear that people with disabilities can become part of healthcare
So glad you are doing this! We need to reduce the stigma so people will get the treatment they need!
Good message 🎉❤😊
. To think a doctor isn't allowed to get ill, no matter if mentally or physically, doesn't make any sense. We are all human beings and go through things in life 🙏🏽💗🙏🏽 May all beings be happy and free.
I am a counseling psychologist and I deal with anxiety.
I think they ment something more impactfull, like autism
I always wondered if I could reasonably work in a psych ward as I have depression, anxiety, possibly adhd and ptsd. Some people say that it can be triggering to work in that environment. I never had to go to a psych ward for my conditions, but I was close. I always wanted to try and make those spaces a little better for those patients. I know how hard it is to just live like that in general and I hear so many horror stories about bad psych wards and some good stories about better ones, I want to try and spread the good ones and eradicate the bad ones.
I’m a nurse with C-PTSD & GAD
This means a lot to me! I was getting nervous with other videos I was watching I saw peoples comments saying that doctors cannot receive mental health or something like that I want to become a neurologist and I have adhd and autism
