I imagine this video being super helpful for people wanting to get into the blogging business. Personally, I'd love to see a video of your actual day in the life with kids (unless you don't wish to, which is obv fine). As someone who would also love a big family but is kinda afraid of the logistics of all of it, it would be super helpful. Anyway, have a great day!

I understand it’s a lot of work, but now have a deeper appreciation for the time and energy put into this job. I also need to remember that some things are “fake” (portable fake surfaces) and not as perfect as my eyes are seeing- so, don’t compare myself and feel like a failure!

You put together that gorgeous toasty waffle with eggs and bacon and then plopped a big glob of sauerkraut right in the middle of it all and I just can't imagine how sauerkraut can taste good with eggs like that. Please help me with this . I love sauerkraut but not with fried eggs. I'm sure you probably talked about this before but I must have missed it. I feel like you have felt the need throughout multiple videos-years to spend time on your videos defending what your husband does to contribute to the family. This probably stems from what we see as you working so hard with so many kids and such tremendous efforts filming planning etc.. most long time viewers probably feel that your husband could do more after your business let him quit his job. Probably true. He's a helper as we have clearly seen. But you have so much on your shoulders as the mother, the homemaker, and running the business that supports your family. The first two roles simply cannot be done by anyone else. Even more, you've been pregnant or nursing and carrying baby throughouy all of it. So how fair is it that your spouse is just taking a minor helping role. Maybe he supervises play time with the kids and mows the lawn. In general in doesn't seem fair.

We raised our 4 kids in a town that has a huge lake. So swimming lessons are very important. I found that many of their school friends quit lesson once they could tread water in the deep end and started to the learn front crawl. I found that children would also be failing this class because the front crawl is more difficult, which is probably why so many kids quit their lessons. There is a false sense of capability levels given to people who can handle the deep end of a swimming pool. We would take our family into BC camping, and to mountain valley's with large lakes with tall rocky mountain cliffs. The older kids loved to jump off them into the water below. The waves on large lakes are hard for even the strongest swimmer. Even though my older kids had already completed all the swim levels, I still watch them like a hawk. As for my youngest, he had to stay in a life jacket when we'd take the older ones to the lake. He was even jumping off the cliffs too at age 4. Life jacket on all the time of course, even to play in the sand. We would go with friends so we had 7 kids altogether, and keeping tabs on younger ones can be distracted. So both my boys had to wear a life jacket at all times when they were little. Children and water is very scary, and having them get to the point of being experienced and strong swimmers helps moms be not so stressed out. Just a little. My 25 year old is in Nova Scotia right now and just sent me photos of the ocean and beach that he's at. And of course, my protective instincts kicked in. I reminded him that it's an ocean with currents. He's a prairie boy and not used to swimming in the ocean. Don't let your kids quit their lessons even when they get hard. Lakes are not like swimming pools and oceans are not like lakes.

100% The best lessons and life skill you could ever invest in. My mom couldn't swim but she insisted my brother and I went all the way through swim classes, beginner to lifesaving. No quitting, it wasn't an option. I grew up in Michigan where so many of us live right on the lake. Now when I travel to the ocean with the family I am confident but also really respectful of that water. I never worry about sharks because I am too concerned with making sure we all safe in the waves and currents, lol.

My husband is a prairie boy who grew up on the lovely calm and shallow Lake Winnipeg. I remind him all the time “that’s a river” “ that’s the ocean” “that may be a lake but look at those waves from the valley wind!” I taught him a lot about “lazy swimming” how to be more efficient and how to float as a muscular person. And we always have all our safety gear :)

I agree completely. We live on a lake and all of my kids learned to swim at a young age but then I signed them up for the local swim teams in summer. There they learned all the strokes and did them everyday. It was every weekday from about 8 to 11 and sometimes some local meets. The coaches were great and practices intensive. By the end of the summer my two oldest swam better than I ever did and the youngest wasn't far behind. We did this for about three years. I did still worry when we went to the ocean each summer. I grew up knowing the waves and tides, learned to swim in the ocean, they hadn't. Despite the fact that by then they were better swimmers than I was I still watched them like an eagle when they were in the water, ready to run in st the drop of a hat. They were teenagers by then and really didn't appreciate my concern but they did listen when I went in and checked the undertow, the current, where it was pulling, etc. It's fun watching them now teaching their kids to swim. This was the first year of swim lessons. I just bit my tongue and enjoyed.

    • @CowboyBike06
      @CowboyBike06 3 роки тому

Absolutely! Our school had an indoor pool and we were all required to take swim lessons from 4th - 12th grade. We lived in the Finger Lakes district and we often went to the various lakes and even spent a lot of time visiting the various Great Lakes (which, as you know, act more like seas with tides and ravaging winter storms) so we were always swimming, sailing, canoeing, kayaking, skiing, boating, fishing, you name it, we were on the water doing it! The very first and most important lesson is to respect the water.
You are a very good and protective mother and it sounds like you aren’t overly protective, just as needed. God bless you and yours!

But, there are so many wild cards in her existence, like the days they lost tending to the damage and mess from that 100-yr. storm and I suppose her children are outside a lot of the time with safe spaces to roam. But, I'd have to see a real DITL to figure out what she does with the suddenly hurt child or sick cow and such because it is also a small house, though gorgeous. Something I like to do with my basil in the summer is make pesto and then freeze it into cubes to use all year long! Sometimes I'll add a cube or two some marinara, or make a creamy pesto sauce for pasta, or add it to pizza. It's just so delicious and nice to have on hand! Another way we save basil is stack several leaves on top of each other, roll them up and then wrap in foil, place in container or bag and freeze. Then all you have to do is get one out, unwrap and chiffonade (while frozen) and add it to eggs or sauce, etc!

This was such an interesting video. I have always heard vloggers talk about how time consuming the filing/editing process is, but actually seeing it being done and your explanations behind it all was super interesting. Thanks for going to so much trouble. I love your channel x

This was interesting to see the behind the scenes. So true how you can do more with less time with kids to balance your day. I think it is so cool how you have figured out how to get paid to be a stay at home mom and you are doing it without sacrificing the being a mom part to do it.

Yes, I did like this kind of video! Could you let us know where/how you store your photos? As an aspiring food photographer, our computer is becoming bogged down with Raw photos and it’s time to put them somewhere else. I’m looking for 1) where to upload them, 2) where to store them permanently, and 3) where to back-up store them. Thank you! Love your channel - and I’ve made (and photographed!) your sourdough starter pizza many times. It’s great.

If you're interested in a little tip to your never ending list of "things to remember" If you don't want your cutting board to move around while you're using it, a damp paper towel or the spongy drawer liner put under it works wonders. I just love your videos, Thank you ❤️ p.s. I suppose after viewing this video some people are still convinced you kick back eating bonbons the rest of the day.

Do you have an ice cream recipe you can recommend (no ice cream maker)? And how do you separate your cow's milk and cream? I can't seem to get pure cream off of the top after settling. I get some pure cream but then the thinner milk pours through and I get half and half. Awww you make your mason jar coffee just like I do! maple syrup too! Super great video. Really appreciate learning your process.

Very informative! I think most people have no idea all the work that bloggers/UA-camrs have to go through to make just one post or video. It was very interesting, thank you. 😊

Love this. I am debating on starting a youtube channel. I worry I’m making it something it’s not. I would love to eventually be able to cut back on working my daytime job and be able to stay home with my growing family but doesn’t seem realistic. I love to see the work that goes into it. Would live more content like this.

I have a question about whole wheat sourdough starter, I recently started it with white hard wheat that I freshly milled, why does it smell so strange compared to all purpose flour starter?
    Thanks!

My grandkids wouldn’t eat this because of the seeds! even though I used an immersion blender 😢. I’ll have to put these in a food grinder that takes seeds out

So her husband and her both work in their homestead and their social platforms and no one has to "report" themselves to a boss or clock in clock out job??? Really? This is possible?? What a dream
