At my local co op store the self checkouts don't have bags on the machines, there is a stand which has lods of bags. So you pick the bag you want and enter the code for that bag. :)
I saw online that A&P was closing this location and selling the remaining the remaining Pathmark and Superfresh units to ACME. I bet this is the end of A&P, as only A&P and Waldbaums are left, and many of their stores are closing.
@SchindlerHaughton Yeah, I believe it. Could be worse: ALDI's, outside of the ""Green" bags, doesn't have bags. You don't have a way to contain your stuff, you carry all of it loose.

@georgef551: I doubt these bags are much different. I'm just saying that A&P (parent of Pathmark) probably put those signs up because they're broke and need to save money wherever possible.
