The Full Story of Halo Reach - Before You Play Halo Infinite

- Halo is and always has been about its excellent combat first and foremost, and the series' multiplayer offerings are often the most crucial part of the experience, but unlike so many other multiplayer-centric shooters, Halo has always also put a great deal of emphasis on the story.
Microsoft's series has told a very elaborate tale across several instalments over the last two decades (sometimes to its detriment), and though the upcoming Halo Infinite is being designed to be able to stand on its own two feet and be accessible to newcomers, you are, of course, still going to get the most out of it if you have prior knowledge about the series' narrative events so far. So over the next few weeks, we're going to take a look at the entire story of Halo, from start to finish, in chronological order, and here, we're going to talk about Halo: Reach.
The ways Noble team died was quite ironic.
Heavy weapon and explosives expert Jorge: Dies in explosion.
Brains Cat: Shot in the head.
Captain Carter: Goes down with the ship.
Stealth Expert Jun: Disappears.
Close combat expert Emile: Stabbed in the back.
Lone Wolf Noble 6: Dies Alone.
Ok you're 100% too powerful to be kept alive... And that's funny I was just thinking about how Jun just dipped out as a sneaky sniper guy, and noble six the aforementioned "lone wolf" dies alone on a mission called lone wolf, gotta love that poetic justice
@Crispel Palmieri chronologically yes
Fuck.....my mind has exploded from this knowledge of not realized before
Y'all giving this dude too much credit for copy pasting a Reddit post lmfao
In The Package, Jun is told to escort Halsey out. Thats why he never could come back because that was basically his last command from Noble. He is the only Spartan from Noble Team to have ever lived on and actually begins training the Spartan IV Program.
Reach's campaign is an underrated masterpiece.
Totally agree.
Just finished it today, freaking loved it
I think it wouldve been more praised if it wouldve aligned with the book that so many people love for almost a decade instead of trying to rewrite it. Both are amazing and it wouldve been nice if they coincided, like a different POV from the book
@@LateShiftWolf Reach alone is Halo's Rogue One to Halo's A New Hope that is Combat Evolved.
@@wickdaline8668 Agree
Still my favorite Halo campaign. You fight so hard to win each mission, only to keep realizing you're actually losing the whole planet anyways. Tough and dramatic but a lotta fun!
Deadass feels like an insanely tragic great story
You died so hard and you failed and you’ll have to stop join the squad for playing halo reach at all with the Story
Face it. The only painful without fun is you @travistesluk3986 you were on untough for that
@@Perks5 you go play dead it’s always come in suicide to sacrifice everyone the world for nothing without hope
Carter’s death was the most badass especially with the “ Carter out” gave me chills
Cat's death is still one of the saddest moments from all this to me. The way she falls and the team immediately tries to help her and render aid even after they know it's over is heartbreaking.
It was also so sudden. Jorge got his hero moment he took down a ship with him. Cat was so sudden a bullet through the head and then darkness. There was no glory in this war
Finished the game for the first time ever yesterday and yes! Let's not forget the sentimental piano music that started playing with her death 😢😢😢
Idk why but cat annoyed me so much I’m glad she died
True, that make me really sad.
Can we talk about how the sniper gets to live by leaving early he’s the only one I wouldent have cared if he died.
I love halo reach it’s personally my favorite halo game growing up and noble 6 dying was just really sad and depressing
One thing I love about the Halo series, is that they never gave up on the " single " player story, unlike COD.
Your not wrong in a way but the single player in the recent cods like mw and Cold War are really good I wish they where co op but either way they are great campaigns so ur prob just a cod hater who is really biased plus I don’t even love cod to
@@nox1ck589Agreed especially mw 2019. The real issue here is modern halo success depends 70 percent on campaign. If Halo infinite does not have a great campaign it will be ripped apart by halo community. Halo multiplayer is nowhere near as popular. Maybe infinite will change it with free to play
and Battlefield 2042 ...
@@Assassin0Ninja Battlefield 4's campaign was awful, so I don't blame them for moving away from single player.
well the single player campaigns on coldwar and MW are actually good, they only gave up on the multiplayer...
Halo has such a deep lore. Love the franchise.
Saddly they divided a lot of important plot between the comics and novels
The lore might be deep, but the plots they cover in the games sure aren't.
@@Fredomato Well it's a videogame so I can see why such thing happens. As long as gameplay in infinite is solid I am gonna enjoy it
@@Fredomatohalo 2 had a deep plot
@@osamabashir5646a video game can have a deep plot... It's just that it doesn't need it
This is the best one. No other Halo campaign captivated me like this one and kept me engaged the entire way through
I remember getting this game for my birthday 12 years ago today , il never forget how sad and impactful this campaign was the first playthrough
I didn’t appreciate how great reach was when I first played it when it came out.. such an amazing game
this game was so popular man that time between reach and halo 4 was a great time wish i could go back somehow honestly. now those games are old news but i’ll never forget them
@@lennyface5540 I was there at the height of the halo 3 and I played so much of the multiplayer it wasn’t even funny lol.. reach came out when I moved back home where I had crappy internet service
I'm playing through all the halo games for the first time before infinite comes out and Reach is by far my favorite so far. What a game!
I skipped it cause it didn't have master chief
@@quazar4773 then you are REALLY missing out dude
I played halo reach last weekend as my very first halo experience, what a game that was. A very tragic and sad ending, I love stories like that where there is no happy ending.
@@quazar4773 💀💀💀
@KingMakesBadContent yup lol, I was playing through the chief games cause of infinite for the first time and I was gonna go back to it when I finished infinite. Unfortunately, infinite was so ass that I bought a ps5 lol
".....Your File Mentioned This...." - Carter if you stare at him long enough in Halo Reach
It was so Intense playing this as a kid, I remember when they killed Emile I was like hell no, he was my favorite because of his mask, And then the scene where noble six is fighting for his life but there was nothing he could do
The first game I started with halo games is Reach. It was few months ago and it's a good game but honestly I had no idea what was going on in the story lol
I started with Halo: Reach, then decided I would go back and play Halo: CE first instead. I don't think it matters because Halo: CE doesn't explain anything either, it just throws you in the middle of everything. I did Halo: CE Anniversary > Halo: Reach, and now just started Halo 2. I still don't know everything that's going on. I think it's intentional.
I played them all over again as CE, 2, 3, 3 ODST, Reach, and 4. I’m going to buy infinite with Christmas money
You’ve really got to pay attention, very small details in the dialog of each cut scene. Even with knowing the story vaguely, on my first play through I had to start paying attention to really grasp each mission instead of just running forward and killing everything. I love it. Halo infinite was my first halo game and it made me go back and start playing the older ones.
I survive 30 minutes at the end just to die
If 6 would have died instantly there, you wouldn´t feel it. Properly.
"that lone wolf stuff stays behind" Indeed that lone wolf stuff did stay behind
Story wise this was my favorite halo game.
Nice, looking forward to watch all of these before getting my hands on Infinite.
Halos story is a good one. So much games, books and film.
After only playing Halo CE with my cousin years ago and enjoying the fuck out of it, I grabbed the Master Chief collection on sale for $20. Halo CE is not as much fun alone, and is much harder than I remember lol. I've been playing through the games in chronological release, and halo 3 ODST and Reach have so far been my favorites.
Watching this as a palate cleanser after the most recent episode of the live action series.
I wish there was a game that puts us in the very start. How it all begun and how the war with the covenant started etc
Yep it should be named Halo or Halo origins
i played this when i was like 9 and damn it fucked me up, it was so depressing, i loved jorge so much he was so nice and chill and he died in vain. I wish they could have made his death count. He was my favorite character :,( .Still my favorite game ive ever played.
Never knew the ending is 30 years.
Noble 6: What took you so long?
Me: Oh sh*t
5:10 the mission was done with Jun, not Emile
Cool how the forerunner data from the artifact were coordinates to the first halo with Cortana being the custodian.
I've always considered Reach as my favourite Halo game .
The reason why Cat’s death hurts the most is because it was an
Assassination
Wasnt Reach like the beginning of the covenant invasion? So basically it shows the story of when the Earths defense corps who were Spartans created to kill other humans, there was a whole war about to happen between humans about what planets they own a literal Star Wars, until the covenant came and fucked us up, Reach is the story of the last Spartan humans fighting a war that they will never know what it becomes, because at that moment all they realized was: "i need to protect this planet, even if they hate me, ill fight."
Until the end when Noble 6 is literally pinned down cause hes so strong and executed before Master Chief is even ready to be a MC then after Reach Halo 1 takes place. Rip Noble team
I don't remember playing this game, but I got it in a bundle with my 360 slim. All I remember was how much of a badass Emil was.
I bought the MCC on discount on steam, so I know what's going on before Infinite. Halo: CE Anniversary was good, but a little repetitive and a lot of backtracking, which I hated. Reach is amazing! One of the best campaigns I've ever played. Really regret only getting around to the Halo series now, at the end of 2021.
weve REACHED the end of the video
This game still gives me chills
Reach the last good Halo game. Hopefully Infinite is a return to greatness.
Infinite is greatness!
This was beautiful! 😭
R.I.P all of noble team
Wow this video is expertly done. Thank you.
Like before watching crew checking in
I love this and all but just one thing, the sabre wasn’t covenant, it was a program made by Humans not covenant but it was ended
First Halo. Favorite Halo.
Halo CE video coming up?? this one is awesome!!!... BTW were is Jun!!! we could have surely seen him on future instalments, he did took Halsey but never was it confirmed he was dead, sadly Kat's and Jorge's deaths were in vain... Carter, Emile and Six aided on Cortana getting to the Pillar, otherwise the war would have ended there on Reach
Halo: start the fight, Halo 2: continue the fight, Halo 3: finish the fight, Halo 4: start another fight, Halo 5: continue the other fight, Halo infinite: continue the fight that you started a second time around only to end up in an endless loop.
Masterchief is like wtf let me take a piss
Haha, "endless"
Awesome summary!
And when the story happens could be good or bad will be worst luck ever until the end of halo reach or they will be the last of the war invasion including humans and the covenant forces shall flourish battle once again and once more and even worse, without hope, No people has failed to escape want to evacuate before the entire city is overrun by covenant alien forces threat
Halo is the best game franchise ever made
Such an awesome game
Played co-op with my brother and beat that game in 1 night and damn that was fun lol
I miss good co-op games like this. I also played it with my brother the night it came out and we beat it. It’s a great memory I have with him.
5:09 *Jun not Emile
I’m pretty sure that ship is not human. Humans are almost extinct during the events of infinite because of the banished and Cortana
6:04 u said covenant Sabre? I'm just trying to make sure I'm understanding the lore right so just asking to make sure I'm not confused. Did you mean oni Sabre or sword base maybe? Sabre was one of the ships u fly right?
What an important game
I don’t know why, but Reach still looks and feels better than infinite to me. Like I understand graphics are obv improved, but the art style/sounds/colors of Reach are so beautiful. I seriously enjoy infinite but it’s just missing that Halo magic for me. Maybe I’m just a slave to nostalgia lol
Sad story because noble team does but it was a good game
Who hasn't played halo reach?
Well, this was about 80% accurate:
-Humanity has not built colonies "all over the galaxy", just in a small segment of the Orion arm. The Milky Way is unfathomably large.
-The UNSC is not the ruling body of humanity, that would be the UEG, but the UNSC has control as Earth and her colonies are under martial law.
-Not 20 years, Reach happens in the 27th year of the war.
-Reach isn't just a well fortified outpost, it's the second most populated world, the UNSC's headquarters and biggest shipyards are located on Reach, having its population of 700 million reduced to less than 200k
-The Saber is not a Covenant fighter, it's pure UNSC.
I really wish we found noble 6 alive somewhere, no one actually saw him die, just actions that could have led to that final "straw" but nothing visually concrete so they could have explained that he managed to hide/get away from the army/glassing and hid out then escaped and lived alone for a bit
It's okay to let characters die.
He got killed by a bunch of elites at the end, I just finished it today again
@@jayjuarez2753 no really
Six gets stabbed by 2 or 3 elites with energy swards I'm pretty sure my guys dead
5:09 it was June and 6 not Emile
Worse for millions of people has fallen was inconceivable irrelevant and all is lost from major losses And everyone in Reach left for dead and the rest of them all gone
Soon the Entire Covenant And Humans will fight each other again once more
6 is still alive!🤞
6:47 His sacrifice was for nothing?? Well it didnt save Reach like they hoped but if every Spartan had that kill ratio the war would have been very different.
well explained man
I have a question. Who opened the portal from reach to the first halo? And did they know where it led? Or even better, how was the destination point chosen?
Cortana has all the info, Cortana is the key by that time
Question what did you used to record the entire game and upload it onto UA-cam?
NEVER to its detriment.
It’s From the Beginning of the End is like From Start to Finish all the way to the end So then Halo Reach has Fallen All Noble Teams are DEAD and the rest of the galaxy of Halo Reach on FAILED Alone for nothing so within it They can rebuild a NEW home base
And with the Base can be rebuilt a new home base the battle between the covenant fallen and human will fight again or rise human life form once more
I need this because I have the master chief collection and I can’t get Halo reach but I can Play combat evolve So this is a good thing to watch so I know what the heck is going on or when I’m playing Comet evolve
Actually, there is a Halo Reach installation FOR the master chief collection -- at least on xbox. It is the only way to play it. It is separate from it on the Microsoft store but allows you to play halo reach via the MCC.
@@user-eh9gk5uq2r I know but I don’t really have spare money on hand for that
Reach 🔛🔝
this is thend, my only friend, the end
Halo infinite, it says cortana blows up planets and she’s very powerful and dangerous, I thought I’d understand why watching this video but it’s only made me more confused 😂
6:03 "...commandeer a Covenant Saber..." WTF are you on about? I was looking forward to a nice video series prior to Infante's release, only to find this sows ear. What other great stories are you retelling poorly?
i really needed this! i am new to the xbox eco-system (first console) and i really wanted to play Halo Infinite ASAP. I didnt want to play the actual game because it would take AGES to play halo infinite, so i thought, why not recap it instead?
Could halsey have trouble with the Spartan program, if she created them
The real Suicide Squad
Why do characters named "six" always die
I really hate it when the mc dies
5:09 emile? june. sorry had to
The saddest halo ever made
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Noble six signing off
Here's the ending of Halo Infinite.
Chief and the Weapon reach the Silent Auditorium, once the seat of Cortana's power, now claimed and controlled by the Harbinger. Their enemy reveals the Auditorium was where the Forerunners passed judgment upon her species, the Endless, and sentenced them to indefinite imprisonment inside Zeta Halo. The Harbinger sought to utilize her uneasy alliance with the Banished to free her people--a plan that nearly succeeded before it was disrupted by the Master Chief. Finally defeated, the Harbinger says her people have been found, and that the Endless will, at long last, be unleashed. The Reformation is averted. The Auditorium begins to collapse. Chief and the Weapon escape through a portal to an unknown destination.
No one cares be quiet
It is astounding to me how incompetent the TV series is at adapting anything even remotely good from the games. I understand that its a TV show and it doesnt need to be 1 to 1 adaptation. But why do they feel the need to create their own version of some events, when the games and the main canon already did them much better. Literally the blueprint is already there. Only thing they had to do is to take these elements and place them into their canon. The show is such a huge letdown. And the claims that its any better in the second season is just lies and delusions.
Roses are Red
Halo chief is green
I already bought this game
So I will scream 👽
wait....Halo is just Starwars🙃
A covenant saber?????
Painnnn
I never understood where was Kats sheilds? it makes 0 sense how she died
Well... if you're playing on Legendary difficulty a Spartan can be one-shotted by a Jackal sniper. Especially in Halo 2.
The EMP that went off disabled their shields
@@ThoroughlyBaked it was a needle rifle tho beam rifle isnt in reach
She died because there was a need for an emotional moment. There's no other reason. If the EMP had killed their shields, surely it would have affected everything else around them? Or at least SHOWED that their shields are down?
So much misinformation, hard to believe hes a halo fan.
Second
Guy talking making too many mistakes. "Covenant sabre" "mission headed by Emile and 6"....it was Jun.
Tell that to your friends you are DEAD
If you need to watch this then you don’t deserve to play infinite
GTFO with your gatekeeping.
