This is so important! I haven’t even been out of the “clean beauty” / “clean living” mindset for that long, but already I can look back and see the insanity that overtook my mind by surrounding myself with all these fear based ideas. I didn’t have the perspective to see that slathering my face with oils and eating 0 sugar and carbs was making my skin FAR worse, because I held onto the fact that I “thought” I saw a initial improvement, and a couple people I followed with no credentials supported it. Thank you for promoting rationality and thinking for yourself Olena! 💕

Clean beauty costs so much money to buy. If their purpose is to give people better option, why do they charge so much??? I get healthy & glowing skin just by using OTC producs. Never using "Clean Products". The key is understanding how skin works & how active ingredients can help skin rejuvenating.

    • @OlenaBeley

Exactly, the key is formulations -- what ingredients are they using and how? Not marketing terms... :D

Love this video! I was following a natural skincare dermatologist (which did start to feel like a cult lol) i was told to only use jojoba oil and Manuka honey. Not to mention I couldn't even eat fruit, gluten, nuts and seeds. It was the most stressful approach and my skin did get worse overtime. You've really opened my eyes and following your tips have significantly improved my skin!!!! Love you Olena 💖💖

I remember just few months ago I was watching beauty channels recommending and testing products, I was amazed by korean skincare and 10 steps routine, I was scrolling pages at online shops for natural skincare, each month I bought new products and before they arrived I was searching for new ones 🤦🏼‍♀️ You have no idea how grateful I am for you and what you spread, you just saved me and many other outside there. Now I am passing by the skincare counters like „I do not need that shit haha, thank you Olena“ Really, in my mind I say thank you Olena ❤️ I bought some products you recommended and did not buy anyyything since then, it was October. I see as well I skip the Insta stories and YT videos from those channels I mentioned, time to unfollow 🥳

I did fall for clean beauty stuff. Aaaand it did me no good. But now i just consider it as another step to reach where i am now- a state where i can make mindful and well informed decisions.
Also it seems like a lot of people are feeling really defensive, i LOLed at the like to dislike ratio

I actually find clean beauty to be more clogging. It is really hard to find clean beauty product that is not clogging. Most of them contain oil, usually more than one type of oil.💀💀

    • @OlenaBeley
      @OlenaBeley  4 роки тому +2

Agreed! In my mind "clean beauty" = clogging, and if not clogging then irritation. It's extremely clever in terms of marketing though because they get the consumer on an emotional level!

I did have an emotional reaction to what you were saying at first regarding clean beauty because, I’ve seen with some youtubers, healthy eating goes hand-in-hand with “clean beauty” and the eating advice has helped me in so many other ways, but the beauty advice fucked my skin. I thought I just had to wait or I was doing something wrong. One youtuber I can think of gives well-researched information and her skincare advice has gotten more and more polished (which has helped immensely) - otherwise they’re usually hocking products. I finally came around and thought what I was doing isn’t working so I should just try other methods and I’m beginning to see great results.
I’m glad one trait I’ve gained over the last few years is a bit of humility because it’s allowed me to actually learn new info and change my opinion. Thank you!

I don't believe Natural is better and I do think well-formulated Ingredients in a science lab is much better than "Natural, 100% organic" skincare. But the thing about Parabens is that everyone, and i mean everyone (including my doctor, my dermat) say that they are proven hormone disruptors. That's the only aspect of Parabens that actually worries me. Someone I know was diagnosed with cancer last year and even their oncologist stated Parabens as a possible trigger which is what really made me drop all Parabens as before that I was quite lax about it despite what I heard around me.

Hi Olena, this video sounds interesting. I guess clean beauty is just a trend, like many others, to sell us more useless skin stuff that doesn't do any good. But I believed in it years ago when it was even trendier than now. I think now we're going more towards science and actives, hopefully!

You really are a glimmer of hope. I played your video on the background while I was doing other stuff, and after yours, another video promoting "natural" "full of essential oils" skincare automatically popped up. I have to say, post-Olena, it is increasingly hard for me to listen to this type of terrible advice. I don't mean to shame anyone, I've done pretty dumb stuff myself, but what I would like to say is how forced that approach seems as opposed to yours... who basically are like Go have fun please! (obviously with well-formulated skincare and sunscreen applied on the face :D). Like you say, if it feels scary, or forced, etc, it is not true. Thank you for opening our eyes. Now I feel like one of the lucky ones who does not put vinegar on her face even if God himself came down from Heaven and told me to hahahah

Great video 😍. I have a question: If I want to apply the ordinary ascorbyl glucoside 12% solution, do I have to apply it right after cleansing(before spraying water and hyaluronic acid)? Or can I apply it after the Hyaloronuc acid (before the moisturizer) ? And can I apply the ascorbyl glucoside solution on a dry face or has it to be damp? 🤔

Haha don't worry about it -- it's engagement that tells UA-cam to share the video with more people! 😅😆👏🙏😘
But a lot of people take this stuff personally because thoughts become beliefs, and belief become identity -- so when you question someone's beliefs they feel their identity is questioned/attacked and then they get defensive! 😃It's a normal response...that can be changed with more self-awareness and alignment. 😚

This video really challenges me, and I appreciate it! I have been diagnosed with PCOS and was prompted by hearing more about xenoestrogens and endocrine disrupters to do more research. I have found myself leaning more toward “clean beauty” and “natural products.” I do feel challenged by this video to look into things more myself and not rely on companies to care about me more than my money 🤣 but I feel maybe more confused than before 🤪

    Sorry for my bad english
I'm so grateful that i found you channel. I used to obsessed with clean beauty yeah because i was afraid of chemical, they promote to be better for skin and health, they claim to be better environment etc. I broke out on moringa oil. I used it for about 2 weeks and yeah break out and lot of comedones. Dumb me, then i go for aloe vera, olive oil (fuq) ,rosehip oil and coconut oil (for oil cleansing) just natural product cuz i think my skin is purging from toxic & this natural product is not for me but maybe another natural skincare may work & blame on my diet , but i found your channel bout 1 month (since last december) i follow your channel advice, i learn to moisturize my skin properly with your 3 steps method/ exfoliate with chemical exfoliator 2x a week/ always wear sunscreen/ no masking/ no oil/ only chemical and more. My skin improve! It's not improve drastically but a little .... my acne still appear but not as often as before and seem to be less less and less, some of my comedone acnes is still but get better and lot are gone. Thank you Olena!
