The video footage in these vlogs is fairly accomplished - very good music and drone footage as well. The photos need no further comment... they are earthy amazing. What I like most about your videos, Adam, is that you are capable of just talking. Not yelling. Not acting. Not trying to sell us on something. Just talking. Thank you. It speaks volumes as to your character. I am certain that I speak not just for myself... WE. APPRECIATE. IT. Take care, brother.
This is the reason I started following , vlogs like this , Adam Gibbs signature . The scenery , high quality production , explanation of composition , exposure settings . The "Uncle Grumpy" comedy is fun on occasion but this is where I learn and could watch for hours ... so nice .
Adam, I have just watched a couple of interviews you did with Gary Gough, and I really enjoyed it. One thing I will say, is that you may not have 7 million subscribers, but the people that subscribe to your channel are quality subscribers who truly enjoy your content. I watch your channel on a daily basis, and I truly appreciate you as an artist; both in your images, and your youtube content. Cheers Adam, and thank you 👍
Great video Adam! I think I enjoyed the last image the most. It was refreshing to see something at the top of the frame used to pulled the eye into the center, especially with waterfalls. Most of the time I feel like lines from water, rocks or roots are used at the bottom of the frame to draw the viewers eye into the frame, but this was a great use of a compositional element at the top of the frame!
Last one is the money shot. I just don’t much care for waterfalls straight on, and I also love the leaves in the foreground, makes it feel very intimate.
I love how you walk us through from beginning to end and especially the description of the area and why you chose this particular location. For me personally the biggest challenge is scouting out new areas to photograph and videos like these give me an excellent idea as to what to expect in terms of some of the challenges the scene can pose from a photographer's perspective. You go into great detail and hit all the points I am interested in. Thanks again Adam.
Love these videos. They should be the "core" material for this channel in my opinion. So good, instructive and relaxing. Just you going out showing us the viewer the surroundings commentating over it, and just showing your thought process behind a couple comps. Nothing else is needed really! Didnt Gavin have video from this area aswell? Greetings from Sweden.
Hi Adam: Thanks again for taking the time to walk us through the various elements and your thought process when constructing an image. Keep safe. . . Keith Pinn (Barrie, Ontario)
Great video again. The b roll at the start always makes me smile, you hike through some amazing forest on your way to location, those of us not fortunate enough to live in such an amazing place would probably spend hours photographing parts of the forest you pass and barely pay any attention to.
Thanks, Henry! I've been watching quite a few of your latest vlogs there as well. What I enjoy is your enthusiasm, that alone can be infectious and a great way to get people out with their cameras. Cheers!
I loved your comparison.... "like watching paint dry"... My girlfriend is also very patient but I agree, you just can't put in the time you would, if you are alone. Quite often the paint is not fully dried out.
Good point about looking for the maple trees, as a reminder to revisit the location in the Autumn season for the colour. When I'm out doing my thing (railway trestle photography), I try to use the abundance of maple trees as my same cue. ...but then the timing of things in October gets tricky with deciding which places to revisit during the fleeting time of fall colour.
Thanks Adam, I always learn something new when I watch your videos. I like to go to Nile Creek in the rain also. Not only because you can get great shots, but there are less people then! By the way I think the bush with the red berries is a Huckleberry bush, the berries are edible when they are ripe. Thanks again and hope to see you on the trail someday.
Hi Adam! Amazing place where you live. The first two, absolutely amazing. I love the composition and the light. This time, the saturation of the greens is perfect. Congrats for the job and thanx for share.
As always I enjoyed your video, Adam. As I've mentioned before, I too live in a forest, in the wet northwest part of Montana. We have numerous creeks, cascades and waterfalls here, and you have helped me learn the best ways to shoot and appreciate them. Thanks for continuing to keep your vlog alive. I'm a better photographer thanks in no small part to you!
Nice! It has always been since I began watching photographers online that their vlog camera comp is often better (imo) than the photo comp they are working at. Sometimes on trails what may have been a hasty placement makes me yell out to the screen to take that shot. I think it was Thomas Heaton who years ago did a coast vlog where the entire vlog was from a much more appealing composition than the one he was photographing from.
Nice video Adam. Looked like the last place you were standing would have made a great foreground with a wide angle lens shooting from a low perspective. Pretty spot and I envy the cool weather out your way, send it our way please.
Great video as usual Adam. Love the images you got too. I've yet to try focus stacking/blending but I'm looking forward to giving it a go just as soon as this bloody rain stops in the UK 😂 👏👏👏
You create such amazing vlogs. I can only imagine the amount of effort that goes into each one. Thank you for sharing your techniques in such an entertaining way.
I'm anxious to make another trip from Hawaii to Vancouver Island, and BC in general. But what's wrong with warm and sunny? I need on of those umbrellas to use as a sunshade ! 😉
Great video, I enjoy you walking through compositions. A little GFX50R tip for you which you may already know- if you push and hold the focus assist zoom button, it will toggle on/off your focus assist mode you selected in the menu (I use focus peaking red low). I find this very helpful when nailing the focus is critical.
redauwg911 note that FF sensors are 3x2 ratio, and the GFX sensor is a 4x3 ratio so the conversion is different for horizontal and vertical. For the equivalent horizontal field of view, it’s focal length x0.82. For vertical it’s x0.73. So the equivalent FF horizontal field of view for the GF32-64mm is about 26-53mm
12:40 & 13:12 allure!!! .. yip both have the basal ganglia fibonacci spiral ;P. Enjoying the admirable "Adam forest escaped lessons". The streamed videos are like little lectures of joy in the pocket [mental notes] ready to engage a fleeing forest moment ...which can be overwhelming. ps. not taking for granted all those B-roll moves.. EVER
Not sure about the brolly. Me thinks the tripod and camera will move to buggery in the wind. Through I can imagine it’s good to have both hands free and be covered when it’s raining. In any case, nice vid 👍
I was thinking the same, but once you have the composition set up I guess you could remove the brolly and hold it over the gear while you take the shots?
I have to say that I love all of the greenery surrounding that little waterfall. Very lush! I think my favorite of the shots was the last one with the little bush with the red berries. I just like how all of the foliage is framing the waterfall (especially the maple leaves at the top). As a bit of an aside, I really liked the fallen trees your are standing in front of at about 14:25. I was actually a bit distracted from what you were saying because I kept staring at them. :)
Great pics Adam I always admire your compositions and enjoy your descriptions of your thought process to get the end result. The thing that I like about your vlog and I’m sure it’s part of your artistic “sense” is your b roll is full of so many potential great photos ,keep up the good work and keep up the reporting of it as it is interesting and informative in a learning way
Hi Adam, what I notice about your vlogs is the great sound control you have. I'm just trying to create my own, and have found a lav mic on a long cable is a bit difficult to play with! You are able to connect well with your viewers due in part to you being unencumbered, something I learned when taking a teaching adults City & Guilds course years back when I did night classes. I must try harder! Think I can manage with a recorder and shorter cable for now.....maybe move to wireless if I get some interest after posting a number of vlogs first. Cheers, Marshall Black
Hi Adam, Appreciate this so much as we just visited the Upper Peninsula of Michigan where there are an abundance of waterfalls. My husband was with me and I felt hurried and rushed so my photos are not what I would have liked them to be so I totally understand about going with a non-photographer partner. I wish I had the opportunity to go back but not happening anytime soon. Anyway, I appreciate your insight and will hopefully be able to have the opportunity in the future to just be able to take the time to pan or take images to stack without feeling rushed. Your images are beautiful btw. Thank you!
Must be great to have so many waterfalls on your doorstep. I must admit I found the foliage a tad messy and distracting from the waterfall. What did spark my interest was the coloured boulders in the rock pool and I'd be tempted to go a little lower and try and add them in a shot. But then I am a geologist!
Adam, I watched the March link to your video and enjoyed it very much. Great explanation of your desire and choice of boots...and some good reviews as well. Thanks for answering my question.
Hello Adam. For me, this video is a good example of how to get the best images you can from a location that is okay, but not necessarily great. Have you updated the 50R's firmware yet and tried the Auto Focus Stack? I was wondering what your opinion is of it. Thanks for all of your efforts in getting out there and sharing your knowledge with us.
Hi Adam: I just received my All Position Umbrella that you featured in this video. I think that this is a brilliant idea and tool. I am going to share this video with some friends and recommend the umbrella so I hope that you can make more revenue. Keep safe! Cheers, Keith
Its always impressive to see how much care you use in your compositions. Even your 'B' roll shows your commitment to leading lines and careful planning. Concerning the umbrella. Is there any concern about clamping such a short clamp on the carbon fiber leg? Are expensive carbon fiber legs prone to breakage in the cold or if clamped too tightly? Thanks for another thoughtful video.
Hey Adam, don't you use the optical center of lens as the axis to revolve for pano? I see you doing it with a simple circular mounting plate on tripod. Considering how the subjects were at different planes, maybe it was worth considering the no-parallalax point?
Thanks Adam. I really like your work. You are the waterfall master! Just curious if that was bear mace in your pocket and if you have ever needed to use it. After being stalked by a mountain lion shooting Milky Way the other night, I have contemplated on bringing some with me.
The video footage in these vlogs is fairly accomplished - very good music and drone footage as well. The photos need no further comment... they are earthy amazing. Great idea for the umbrella! Ordered one!
Love watching your paint dry Adam
I'm going to perfect the Adam Gibb's tripod flick. Awesome!

Canada is just so beautiful. Thanks for another stunning and informative video. Yes, it’s always a bit awkward when you have the other half with you.😂
I believe such vlogs help us get better stills
Last one is the money shot. I just don’t much care for waterfalls straight on, and I also love the leaves in the foreground, makes it feel very intimate.
Beautiful photos; that pano came out incredibly.
Love the umbrella. Obviously actual wind would be a non-starter but I’d be concerned about any breeze introducing vibration.
I love how you walk us through from beginning to end and especially the description of the area and why you chose this particular location. You get a like just from all that B-Roll. Awesome vid as always 👌
I love the detail of explanation in your recent videos; please keep it up.
Like the last one because it shows the depth of the water and the large s to ones in the foreground.
What a rain forest paradise is Vancouver Island. I hope my country gets its act together by next spring so the border can reopen and I can visit.
Thank you so much, I have been looking for videos on old growth forest photo for a while a yours are the best!
Thank you very much for the link on the Umbrella, that's exactly what I've needed. I ordered one.
Living on VC has to be a landscape photographer’s paradise!

Great video, loved the little trick at about 5 minutes when you deployed all the tripod legs at once
Nice walkthrough of your composition...
Hi Adam: Thanks again for taking the time to walk us through the various elements and your thought process when constructing an image. Keep safe. . . Keith Pinn (Barrie, Ontario)
Once again overwhelmed with your skill and vision. Masterfully seen and done.
Great video again. The b roll at the start always makes me smile, you hike through some amazing forest on your way to location, those of us not fortunate enough to live in such an amazing place would probably spend hours photographing parts of the forest you pass and barely pay any attention to.
nice vid grumpy and nick doesn't pfaf .. good umbrella.
Really enjoyed this one Adam. I always find your compositions have such a pleasing balance to them. Thanks for sharing mate.
Thanks, Henry! I've been watching quite a few of your latest vlogs there as well. What I enjoy is your enthusiasm, that alone can be infectious and a great way to get people out with their cameras. Cheers!

Great vlog Adam, I need one of those umbrellas and clamps.
Great content as usual. Thanks Adam for taking us on a journey of tranquillity and beauty. Stay healthy and safe. Cheers from Texas.
Really liked the last image.
Ahhhhhhh, Sunday morning and another lovely Adam Gibbs tutorial, all's right w/ THIS world.....
Cool! Thanks for sharing.
Adam, I did purchase that umbrella. I'd been looking for one. I had a Rube Goldberg one that I made up but this beats it hands down.
It’s really magical place! Thank you very much!
Thank you Adam. Your work really resonates with me and inspires me to get out.
Hi Adam, Great Video , thanks a lot. Greatings from Germany
Very nice images. Thanks!
I’m envious of your home territory!
As always, thanks Adam for inspiring me to see more of Vancouver Island.
Loverly video. Itching to get out now
Very very NICE shots!

Adam, another great video. I appreciate the time you spend to explain the composition and your thought process. 👍🏻

The tripod dismount was very satisfying. Apart from that, great video!
Stunning shots, Adam! Thank you for walking us through your thought process when assessing a composition.
Very inspiring Adam. I liked the stones in the water of the last photo!
Watching this , 8:00 AM, Already well over 75 f.....Envying you wearing a jacket....
Never seen a cooler way to open a tripod.
As always this was so nice to watch. I really enjoy the relaxed look and feel. Thanks Adam. Nick
I like this type of presentation. Very informative.
Great video as usual Adam. Love the images you got too.
I've yet to try focus stacking/blending but I'm looking forward to giving it a go just as soon as this bloody rain stops in the UK 😂
👏👏👏
Another great video, Adam. Envious of your weather; in the middle of a dry heatwave here in Toronto with no end in site.
You create such amazing vlogs. I can only imagine the amount of effort that goes into each one. Thank you for sharing your techniques in such an entertaining way.

Oh, I do hope you revisit this shot in the Fall. Would love to see this composition with Fall color 😊. Great composition!
I really like the last shot....
Adam
Wonderful photographs and I thoroughly enjoyed your thoughts and comments on the various compositions
wonderful, a source of inspiration
I really do enjoy how you go through an analysis of each scene and describe how you achieve your final image. I love all your images.
Great video Adam. I can see this waterfall has great potential at other times of the year too.
This turned out -for me -to also be a good panorama tutorial.Because you filmed from the back of the screen. :-)
Great video, I enjoy you walking through compositions. Hi do you know the conversion factor to full frame for this Fuji MF lens ?
redauwg911 note that FF sensors are 3x2 ratio, and the GFX sensor is a 4x3 ratio so the conversion is different for horizontal and vertical. For the equivalent horizontal field of view, it’s focal length x0.82. For vertical it’s x0.73. So the equivalent FF horizontal field of view for the GF32-64mm is about 26-53mm
@@sloemo4024 Thank you So much for the answer. Really appreciate your explanation , thanks again.
In the opening scene where you are walking on the path, that is one impressive Devil's Club in the background!. A nice contemplative video.
the umbrella looks like you could use it also as reflector

Really nice location overall, great episode Adam :)
Thanks, Diarmuid!
Thanks Adam top work
Enjoyed the images and the location Adam. Liked how you explained the reasoning behind each image and composition. Thank you.

Beautiful location and images Adam! If that D850 is getting lonely because of the Fujii, I’d be happy to keep an eye on it for you.
Cool location and perfect day. Quick question please. Did you focus separately for each pano shot.
Great pics Adam I always admire your compositions and enjoy your descriptions of your thought process to get the end result. the little berries are Red huckleberry. very tasty.
Love my sport brella, got one after a Simon Baxter workshop, does ok down to about 16mm on FF
Super !!!
Many thanks!!

Looking forward to this mate the area looks beautiful and those images were stunning 😃👍✌
Excellent video this week. Do your videos reflect what to expect of a workshop?
Depends, with larger groups no since most folk run off to do their own thing. Smaller groups more so.
Beautiful shots once again matey, that pano especially. Could hardly see you at the end behind that shrub lol 😂
I like to be inconspicuous. Thanks, Tom!
Adam Gibbs 😂
