I seriously can't figure out how Nikolai does his greyscale to color so well. I feel like whenever I try it comes out horrible 😅 he's an amazing artist
Thank you :-) With going from greyscale to color it is important to not rely too much on putting colors in layers ontop in different blendmodes. I usually start with a overlay layer on top to get the basic color-scheme. But then I merge that down to each layer and paint normal mode the usual way. I wait with the daitails until this point. So my greyscale is also just a sketch before I ad color.
How,do,you start with the shadows and change them into colors… is that as simple as a specific brush and color adjustments ? I’m just now getting familiar with the program thanks to you and others
Thank you very much. You can do animations and some paralax cameramovements. But the Spiderverse was full 3D, with total freedom in case of camera. We are not there yet on ipad, but you could do some similar stuff as Spiderverse

Usually 6000px - 10000px on the widest/tallest
