It’s so strange to me how all the comments are saying this is creepy. I understand seeing as how it’s all dark and abandoned lol, but to me I grew up in this mall and found this walk rather comforting. Brought up a lot of great memories. I still love in the area but haven’t been to this mall since 2017. I would love to go back in it now just to walk around, but with it being fully closed I’m not sure if that’s an option.
This is the best video done about ShoppingTown Mall I've seen. The mood set by the lighting presented here really conveys the sense of dread the mall has been harboring the last year. You really told the tale well! Kudos.
You are a brave man sir, this is probably the creepiest mall I’ve ever seen. It’s cherry and light in one area and dark and foreboding in another. Thank you for taking us with you on this journey.
It wasn't always like that . It used to be soooo alive . Movies , arcade , food court and there was even a skatepark in it . I used to visit shoppingtown more than carousel mall (destiny USA) and it was always packed.
It's such a shame to see the mall like this. It was always spotless. When all three malls were going Shoppingtown, Great Northern, and Carousel they would all be packed around Christmas time. Shopping Town also had a Media Play back in its day.
Just wanted to say thanks for your work in posting these. I am 4000 miles away in the UK but it's surprisingly similar to the malls here from my youth in the 80/90's. Your videos are oddly compelling to watch. I guess getting older I'm getting more and more nostalgic for a place & time that no longer exists. Keep up the great work.
In the mid 2000s, my wife and I used to frequent this mall. I attended a nearby college and we would go to the have dinner at TGIFridays, catch a movie, and get sugar cookies from the Mrs. Field’s. It’s sad to see it in this state because I can still picture it as a very lively mall in my head and I can map where a lot of the stores were back then. Thanks for the video.
Holy crap. Super creepy. Especially with the constant distant voices and echoes. Thanks for the video. Shame to see such a nice looking structure go to waste. I really like the lightning on the ceiling, but they needed a lot more, lol.
I’ve been there many times in the past few years. It’s not falling apart like say the Great Nortern Mall but Carousel/Destiny certainly hurt it badly. It’s still pretty to walk thru and is much larger then it appears outside.
This has to be the best way to see this mall. This video is almost as creepy as your Wilson Mall visit, which is still my favorite video of yours. I really enjoyed this tour, it is especially fitting for a Halloween release.
Great job you are certainly more brave than I am. I won’t be going in that mall if someone paid me. The darkness was absolutely creepy. A lot of criminal activity could easily take place there, and no one would even know.
I have a lot of great memories at SHOPPINGTOWN MALL-my mom’s and my go-to spot on Saturdays while I was growing up. Those wonderful memories can’t be taken away from me.
Almost everything you've narrated can be built up into a really good horror story or 'creepypasta' beginning with the history of the mall and then the second part is how you're describing it and then the third part is when the real horror elements sets in.
I've been in shopping town several times. One thing I thought was cool was all the Martial Arts schools that moved in. I thought it was a nifty idea to have one place with so many schools in it. You could pick whatever style you wanted. Shame that kind of idea isn't around in other places.
Great, atmospheric video. The conversation pit area was right outside the original site of the Dewitt Community Library--until around 2008 or '09, I think, when they moved a floor up. That was the main reason for me to go to this mall when I was a teen/young adult. That lower level I always thought was such an odd location for a library!
This mall tour, vaguely reminds me of this also very dark(and heck, it appears to be a little darker at times) walkthrough of Charlestowne Mall in 2017, before that place closed: ua-cam.com/video/xaR5pLgz5oM/v-deo.html Anyway, this is a great video! Awesome choice, for a Halloween video special. BTW, was 11:30 with that pink neon, a former Deb store?
It was not always like that, when I was young my family used to take me to the mall to play arcade games, watch movies, get toys, play laser beam games, and eat at restaurants unfortunately as of a few hours ago they announced that they will be demolishing the mall and replacing it with housing and a list of shops! But nothing can replace the memories I had in that mall! RIP shoppingtown
Last time I bought something here was in late 2007 (PS2 stuff at the EB Games), and it was around this time I sensed Shoppingtown Mall going downhill. Anyone else have memories of the mall's decline and when? I moved from Wisconsin to Upstate New York in 2004, and people I've talked to said the mall's prime was in the 80s and 90s. How was it's transition in the 2000s?
I moved to Syracuse in 2008, and this mall was still hopping then. Also in 2010, it was still full of ppl because we had to search for a parking spot next to the SEARS. I’m going to say around 2015 it started declining fast. I now live in NC, moved here in 2020. The last time I was at this mall was in 2018, and the only thing open was SEARS. That’s the timeline I know.
They should have gotten in one last hurrah. Make a horror movie in the mall before it's demolished. If they need to blow up a few things in some scenes, nobody would miss them at this point. Call in Roger Corman to make a sequel to or remake of Chopping Mall. It could be called Choppingtown.
Trust me, they're not open (or friendly) anymore. I went with a friend (one of the last tenants) to get the last of his stuff out of there when they officially closed it, and they were REALLY FUCKING RUDE to us the whole time.
5:22 I’m pretty sure that Rite Aid Pharmacy on the right had only closed a couple of months prior Edit: And... you said that later in the video lol. I said this before I heard that part
It's not creepy. I was going to the card shop at midnight for pre-release events, probably 2 years before this or less. You had to walk down the escalator to leave. Even at that time it was almost dead. I think Regal is about all that remains their. My nephew was doing boxing at the mall and the skate park has moved out, a co-worker has DJed for them now that they started a new place. I use to hang out at the mall way back in the day.
OH I see a couple other things now, but you went by so fast I couldn't tell what they are. Maybe there is a reason the owner is called MOONBEAM? Moon Beam is the only light you are going to get at night.
I was in Carolina Place Mall yesterday and it appears that all stores that are still in business are open though there are a few empty slots but there aren't that many. So far they are holding up well. There are about 3 empty slots in the food court

This place used to be such a wonderful place to be so full of life.
It was my childhood at one point. It just hurts now.

Boy is that creepy - but what do you expect? It's Moonbeam.
The fact that you're showing this during a pandemic makes this look so eerie.

....and I thought Greendale Mall (RIP, Worcester, MA) was creepy in the dark, this beat it by a mile!
You are brave ! thank you for this Halloween Special treat I even like this video!
Wait....so this is while this mall was still open when this was filmed?? Wtf lol @doomiegrunt you always come thru with the best dead mall material💯

The echoing of voices and random banging makes this creepy af 😱

Spent a good portion of my childhood and adolescent years at that mall. Used to be an awesome place. RIP.

That place in my mind, is that space that you call mine.
Great video Doomie Grunt
This mall is even creepier at night than Owings Mills Mall at night.

Monsters, indeed! 🥶
Nice spot for *Aliens vs. Predator 3,* or another zombie film! Or perhaps *The Return of the Killer Klowns!* 🙃

Welp
I’m thoroughly chilled
Truly creepy and awesome! 🖤❤
There’s someone there on right hand side at 6:57 we’re you with someone? Super creepy
:( So many memories with friends here, my Freshman and Sophomore years of high school at JDHS, 1997-1999
My hometown mall, did karate here for years!!

14:17 you probably should’ve added some Halo CE soundtrack when the flood came lol
Now you know where I got most of my ambient noise from.
@@DoomieGruntVentures 🤣😂😂😂😂🤣🤣
How are the malls doors still open omg it’s closed lmao

Use to shop here back in the day.
It was still packed around 2010.
It declined fast!
A dead mall opened on Halloween. That's cool but impossible.
Shoutout shoppingtown mall’s Burger King in the food court as well as the quiznos and pavones
This mall wasn't always creepy . It used to be so vibrant when I was 10-16. Now it's just so dead.

Halloween is a awesome
I had a nightmare about this man i was so scared
What time did you go there? I l like it 👍
Used to smoke weed, skateboard, go to hot topic, play DDR / Laser Tag, and all sorts of stuff there.
That's a big place...
And sadly now no one can go in it’s a ghost town now no cars either it’s way more scarier now.

I would not have gotten in the elevator..
Why r the doors unlocked?
My parents met at the TGI Fridays here 🥺
Scary cute
Wait... You look WAY younger than you sound lmao. I always thought you're a guy in your 40s or 50s lol
This place looks like Lowe's in the thumbnail
Koki: Syracuse, New York 10/30/16
This video was made a year ago? I wonder if the Lenscrafters is still left? So far that is the only business I see open
