Thanks for taking us through that. So sad...loved going to that mall in the 80’s and 90’s. Remembered Cavages as one of my favorite music stores along with the strange way to get to the library. Not to mention media play which was really big in the 1990’s!!
Chappel's space was used to make the theatre, I saw a post on Facebook and a private school, the building has the same setup, I thought a school could be put here, that's the thought of a teacher. 5-12-2023
Shoppingtown Mall was my favorite stomping grounds too-when I was a kid. My mother and I would walk from our apartment building on Green Street to James Street and catch the JAMES STREET-SHOPPINGTOWN bus almost every Saturday.
I remember the first time I went to the theater in shopping town mall back in 1992. The last movie I saw in the old shopping town mall theater when it was unattached was The Adams Family. But there was a guy that used to work at the Fayetteville mall theater and sure enough he was the first one to take my ticket at the new shopping town mall theater in the mall!! Oh memories.
I loved this mall back when I used to live in Syracuse, in it's prime it was a pleasant and laid back environment unlike what's known as Destiny USA.
Walking down that weird, carpeted sloped floor to MediaPlay... thanks for the memories!

Thank you for the tour of one of my old stomping grounds- in its day it was a great #CNY mall !

I’m gonna miss that place once they tear it down, I had so many memories in that mall
Makes me so sad. Spent a lot of time hanging with friends in that mall my freshman and sophomore years of high school (1997-1999)
I used to go there all the time as a kid.. for lids(hat store) and media play.. last time I was there was in 2011 before I moved
Anyone remember Bergson's Restaurant? Great food and ice cream.
Great place to mall walk.
Always loved this mall when I would visit Syracuse a lot more than what is now Destiny USA.
Gertrude hawk was the chocolate store and the corner place you’re talking about was jewelry
This is so sad and eerie. I hate that this is happening to malls.
38:15 store in the corner was originally a Burger King (before there was a food court).
Is the entire mall closed now - movie theater included?
This is so sad. My childhood is gone :/

Altered states at the end!!!! My favorite store in the mall no doubt
Laser tag was awesome here
It's disappointing it's closed now
5:28 Kauffmann's then later Macys
Wasn't that Chappell's and then BonTon? Maybe not
Yes!

Ceilings were cool but a huge problem 😂
