I’ve never been a DJ fan. I also never thought Jordan Travis would be as good as he was . So, I must believe Mike Novell will get the best out of DJ . He’s a B grade QB to me tho
FSU will be much better at running the ball next season, and DJU is going to execute the run option very effectively as well. If DJU hits his open receivers and doesn’t throw too many picks, FSU will be very hard to beat.
This was an accurate take based on what I watched.

I felt that last years spring game was a complete and utter letdown, but what did we do last season? I found out that what you see in the spring game is really what Mike wants you to see. This is the same coach who doesn't give injury status on players but we expect him to come out and show his hand in a scrimmage game. The key takeaways were the inconsistency from DJ was a direct result of the defense breathing down his throat, almost every throw he threw was highly contested and most were batted down by the defender because of insane coverage. The second key is that the RB room is stacked to the ceiling and in a true RPO offense where you have the RB talent and a QB that has the frame and can scramble is a serious upside. I could tell last year that JT was being told not to scramble for fear of injury, at 6' 4'' 245 lb DJ is better built for scrambling and not getting injured as easily in my opinion. When Mike tells you this is the most talented and fastest team he has ever coached you can believe he is not lying.

I agree about spring games. DJ is still DJ. He will absolutely frustrate your fan base this season. He WILL lose you all 2-3 games on his own. This will all happen and if he's starting, FSU loses to Clemson in a bad way.
What? Ok! If that’s your reasoning than you’re entitled to it. Oh by the way, have a look at their schedule from Oct-Nov. There’s no way they go 5-0 when they face off against Miami, Clemson, Duke, UNC, and then Notre Dame. In that order . I don’t care how supposedly elite their defense is going to be. They will be loosing 2 of those games; maybe even 3.
@@malcolmjones27 Bro please give me another line, that one is tired and worn out. Last year the same haters came out and said we would lose to LSU Clemson UF and Duke. I haven't said anywhere in that comment that we would go undefeated, we might not but you obviously have that scenario on your mind. I did an assessment of what I saw during a spring showcase that's all I put no confines on what potential this team has. Those doubting DJ are probably the same people who also doubted JT and he was in the top 5 best QBs in FSU history.
@@jordanhamilton50 , granted. I’ll take everything you stated into advisement. Now, back to reality. Last year, FSU got extremely lucky in terms of the ball simply bouncing their way. I’m talking a “Doug Flutie” Hail Mary here! I’m sure you’ll agree that last season the ACC was horrible! The programs that really stood out from the rest in the end were Louisville and of course FSU. The biggest reason or main reason I should say that FSU was not included in the playoffs was because of their “strength of schedule.” I think that they fell somewhere in the 40’s or 50’s in terms of that. Please correct me if I’m wrong. Hence is why the committee blocked them out. I know that you’ll disagree with that and that’s fine. However, if we’re comparing apples to apples here DJ is NOT Travis! You saw the huge difference in that team’s performance when he was out which was the other reason that the committee kept them out of the playoffs. This team will go, at best , 10-2 this upcoming season in my opinion. Maybe that’ll be enough for them to get into the playoffs with the new system. We’ll see. I have no bone in this fight. I just wish that FSU fans would just be straight forward and be honest with themselves as everyone else outside of that fan base can pretty much see the writing on the wall. They’re a decent program right now but certainly not an elite program by any stretch.
I want to touch on DJ for a sec. A lot of people don’t realize how disruptive that D-line was. Dj will be fine. But that defense will be better than the top 10 defense fsu had last season.

That defense gave up 63 to georgia without all their players going to the draft. Cant wait to see how the handful of transfers suddenly turns that defense into a top ten unit.
I hate to break it to you, DJ is just bad. 12/27 is awful even if he was playing against the best Dline in the sport.

FSU will be very good on D. Will need a S imo. Offensively the OL will be better which give DJU time in the pocket for deep throws with the burners they got in the portal. Last year with Travis, the S where inside 10 yards every game because Travis couldn't throw down field. With the threat of being beat over the top and the improve OL expect FSU to run the football

Two things to point out
One you already pointed out the potential run game at FSU funny enough you might have left out the best HB on the roster in terms of potential with freshman Kam Davis the kids built like a tank 5'10 220 with track speed ... An I don't mean to put Clemson or Oregon State down but they both had DJU throwing it 300 plus times a year that won't be necessary at FSU
The second thing I would like to point out is that was probably the best group of DBs DJU will see all year this is a group that has a decent amount of returning talent and they held their opponents to a 48% completion rating and a average of 179 yards per game ... 10 INTs and 80 pass deflections ... I think you need to take that into account

Youre right DJU isnt Jordan Travis 2.0. He quite possibly will be better. He was better last year, statistically, at oregan state than travis was at FSU. He made a lot of good decisions yesterday, tried to force a few balls he probably shouldnt have, but that was also against a defense that will likely be better than 90% of the schedule and with very limited play book/ snaps from the 1s.
DJ is DJ whether at Clemson, Oregon State if FSu. He’s average.

Ward was their first choice. He played games and announced he was going to the NFL so they moved on. A month or 2 later at the last minute Ward changed his mind and Miami was lucky enough to get him because they still had jack squat in the QB room.
