" If a man you never met before suddenly gives you flowers -- that's Impulse" SUPER THROWBACK! I totally forgot about that stuff! The commercial was very popular for a while
the Twilight Room sounds friggin' UNBELIEVABLE!! the MTV Party House is an interesting contest. my older bro lives there, so i visit a lot. i wonder if the house is still pink? John Stamos was sooo cute!
Of COURSE you want to go party in Bloomington, Indiana! That's where Indiana University is, and they are a NOTORIOUS party school. There's not much else to do in the middle of nowhere but party! (Hoosiers represent!)
Wow, never though I'd see something very local show up here. I live in Vernon CT, and CT golf land is still alive and well. I see their tokens mixed in the change from time to time at my work, less than 1/4 mile from there. Also my mom took a few classes at a CPI location that was in Cromwell CT back in the late 80's. And Lynch Toyota is still around as well, in a new location, but they don't use that guy in their commercials anymore (they did for years).
#8 is for Jean Naté. I totally remember the pink John Cougar Party House contest! Remember when Tom Hanks used to be FUNNY? Wow, so much dead air in that Twilight Room ad!
damn and I thought golflands were mainly a southwest US thing (I know a few in CA and at least one in AZ) ... I googled their site and apparently it's still open! no idea if their selection is the same, though.
This is back when MTV used to...have interesting contests. That house was allegedly built on a toxic waste dump, and the exterior was painted over in 1991 by its new owner.
@troodon311 No offense, but how many station IDs did this set of commercials need for you to figure out what channel it was recorded from? I mean.....could it have been made any more obvious?
Music (Lifestyle) Television as it's better known today! Funny how Atari was pushing games after the crash, guess they had a lot of outdated stock ! Places like CT Golfland are/were great! They are still around!

I feel so fortunate to have grown up in the 80'S!!! No other decade will ever match it!
"So if a man you've never met before suddenly gives you flowers......"
Yell "Stranger Danger" and run away!!!!
Wow, I can just barely remember there was a time MTV actually played music!

Wow!! What a frickin' flashback!! This was when MTV actually played music videos!! Like I keep saying "Reality TV" is going to be the death of TV.
I agree with you reality TV killed MTV. I hate reality t.v. I miss music video on MTV
@darktetsuya CT Golfland is an independent business and is not affiliated with the Golfland chain found in the west.
@troodon311 I don't post this info on Viacom owned content. Maybe I should write that they aired on VTM.

Holly Brooke proud Hoosier here!

Ahhhh... 1984. When Duran Duran were the kings of MTV. "The Reeee-FLEX! FLEX! FLEX! FLEX" :-)

Aww you clipped out Panama by Van Halen.
Nothing says a party like....John Cougar Mellencamp? Wait, what happened here?
@troodon311 No offense, but how many station IDs did this set of commercials need for you to figure out what channel it was recorded from? I mean.....could it have been made any more obvious?
@Audiomancer Yes, back in the good old days before all this reality show crap shown on there these days.
Wow. I forgot that this was after the Video Game Crash. Atari must've been hella desperate.
Neet is a Neet name for hair removal
I wish I had the unedited version of this! Any chance of getting that file?
Wait, MTV used to show music videos?
I've seen that dude in the car commercial on ads in my hometown of Roanoke, VA.
Any idea who he is/was?

Can any of those dancers do those moves today? Probably not without breaking a hip.
Stamos owns hair removal creme.
I wonder what happened to that MTV house ?
Wow, Impulse was like the AXE deodorant for women. Imagine if they aired Impulse-like commercials these days with a woman hassled by scent driven men.
Pff. Mtv in the 80s, those were the days.
@Idoljunky32 Going to be? i quit watching years ago lol! All i watch is hockey
Can I still win that house? ;) j/k
I miss this MTV!!!!!! Music Television! Now it's just a shitty reality TV network!
