Miss Bonnie be gettin' nasty with that slide geetar here! This song embodies all the universal emotions Bonnie sings about - lust, unrequited love, longing, rage. She makes music for intelligent grownups, and this is a song for intelligent grownups. Go Bonnie! I'd also recommend "Love Sneakin' Up On You." That sliiide geetar funk blues is fantastic.
@@marksongbird7534 It does seem that way. There have been so many historic events that have occurred since then. My own original music has been inspired by the music of two decades. Thanks for your reply and take care.
@@lesliegmn3927 Okay, I knew he did an Elvisy type thing, but I didn't know that people thought it was sexy. I thought my late wife went to his Melbourne Australia gigs to humour me. Maybe not!
While it is always a pleasure to watch and listen to Bonnie, John Hiatt, Toby Myers, Kenny Aronoff, and Larry Crane were the Hoosier rock 'n' roll royalty of my young adulthood. So much fun to find this.
That was a great event in Indy that day , live Television coverage , had phone lines open for farm aid donations it was your telethon format , venue was at the ( gone now ) "Hoosier Dome" home of the Colts then , but yes I remember well was a big time event in Indy , with Mellencamp being a Indiana native born, raised and still lives here , his homes here in Bloomington. That was one of the better of all "Farm-Aid concerts for sure. Support your local farmers!
We had a guy on Joe Bonamassa's site from the Netherlands who just loved her and called her the Goddess, I think it fits to a tee. I'm gonna pull out Road Tested tonight and give it yet another spin around the block
This is my favourite version of John's tune, warts and all. Smoother than the original, and Bonnie is just oozing confidence here. Kenny Aaronoff is everyone's secret weapon, and John looks like he forgot his real pants.
That was awesome! Just discovered John Hiatt, so far this is one of my favorite songs by him. Killer guitar by that woman, doesn't get much better than that.
I love that woman. Such a beautiful person and a killer guitar player. So nice to see John Hiatt with his Telecaster. I'd love to know what kind of pickups Bonnie has on her Strat...
Stunning duet...but I do have one issue. Even though I like Bonnie's cover (a little) more than Hiatt's original (and she's just...wow...on a slide), it's a damn shame his mic's on so low.
That bothered me most. Bonnie Raitt is spectacular, especially live, but I love love love his voice. John Hiatt has such a beautiful gift, his voice is like magic...it reaches all the way down to your soul.
I've heard local bands wreck this by playing it 10 or 20 percent faster, and they lost the cool swing. The drummer in this video knew what's what and he nailed it.
She should have left the Ugly Ducklings middle 8 to Hiatt. His half-yodel way of singing the word "lake" is a killer. I love La Raitt (wow look how closely their names are spelled!) but I always preferred his version of his song.
I love Bonnie's playing on this tune - very tasty and in the pocket - but Ry Cooder's playing on the original recording is the loosest, nastiest thing I've heard.

I remember the popularity of Farm Aid. It just seems like so long ago.
A lifetime ago.

John Hiatt great songwriter. Ms Bonnie singing his song, be still my heart damn that woman can sing . My favorite female vocalist ever ...
I could listen to both versions, but the combo is the best
John Hiatt is one of the best songwriters and singers I`ve ever heard. And now a fashion icon.
I couldn't agree more. He's the real, real deal.
lol just saw this AFTER reading comments and I must say I fully appreciate the fashion icon thing lol again . Love it
Pajama pants - he was at least 5 years ahead of his time! Love John!
I saw John a few years ago after he’d undergone a hip replacement. He still had that sexy wriggle; I was so relieved!

i cannot even imagine what a fantastic concert this would have BEEN!
JAC,CST Iwas at this show. April 1990 HoosierDome,Indianapolis.
I seen John Hiatt and Bonnie Raitt at the Orpheum in Memphis Dam what a show! She is the queen bottleneck Blues! Smoking!
Two masters of their craft, I saw Bonnie once in Dublin and she brought on Paul Brady as her guest, she is very talented.
This is my favourite version of John's tune, warts and all. Smoother than the original, and Bonnie is just oozing confidence here. Kenny Aaronoff is everyone's secret weapon, and John looks like he forgot his real pants.
That chick is pretty damn good on that string broom...Great song and well done.
This song was written by John Hiatt 👌
John's wearing his pajama bottoms...love it.

Bonnie is such a sweet slide player. She plays as well as she sings.

Great to see Bonnie really stretch out on the slide.

Awesome!
Even Brad Pitt is also there at 1-55, feeling happy being along through all this masterpiece and trying to pretend playing the guitar

Bonnie bein' sexy af.
The slow part is not easy to play on the drums and this drummer did a great job

I shook Kenny’s hand once the guys a powerhouse

Is John Hiatt wearing pajamas?

Hind sight....she should have left the whole song to him. He always sang his song better than her.

Blues music for intellectuals. Bonnie Raitt attended Harvard University (Radcliffe), you know.
