Experience will teach you many optimizations. I find one thing that separates good from great players is how they use their YOPs and Road Builders. The more you can find potential 2 point plays for those devs, the more you will be able to increase your WR. As soon as I pulled the RB, I wasn’t thinking about where to settle - I was thinking how to I take longest road, 15:06 example. Be comfortable holding those devs longer than you think if you can find bigger and better plays!
Got interested in this game after watching a short about 2 months ago and found your channel. I think it would be awesome if you could do like a Smurf series. Would love to see how to strategize and move up the ladder from where no one communicates and move so one sided.
I’m curious drew did you ever consider placing your 1st settlement on the 4 wheat sheep port instead of the 6/11? Would it have been a bad play to go for the sheep port first?
Great question! Personally, I am very wary of taking 2:1 port plays in ranked as they’re perceived to be a lot more dangerous than they actually are. For that reason, I liked the idea of pacing under the radar a bit more and when I get the sheep port, I have the ability to take off. It’s a subtle and almost not perceived strategic idea but it makes all the difference when you are playing the middle game. We didn’t even get robbed at the end with pretty much the win in hand.
At the 17 min mark you take a settlement at 6,11 and desert. But why not take it at the 6, 11 and 5 instead? I just started playing this game so I don’t know too much, just doesn’t really make much sense to me.
At the start he had to solo block you, as he had the noblock deal with orange... surely you see this right? Do you have a reason for still typing in the chat pretending not to understand the solo, or did you genuinely not see?
Of course I do. Considering he has a 100% chance to steal the wood AND block 2 players, the solo didn’t make sense. Orange had only 2 wood in his hand. From my experience in ranked, making strong social plays like soloing someone or over-talking someone’s position early can have a lot of negative consequences. For all social and strategic reasons, better to just steal the wood and move on.
@@dandydrew That’s fair, from your chat it sounded like u didn’t understand the solo block, I think you should have made it more clear that you didn’t understand the initial deal.
Trading for the win like that was crazy. Great vid.
Not sure why, but 2s have been hitting so much in Colonist lately lol
I’m here for it… THE 2!!!!!!
that longest road sneak was amazing
Great game! I was thinking you'll try to settle on the 9 sheep after you pulled a rb, but this play was so much better to get road long term!

I can see your mouse shaking at the end from how excited you got from the trade win lmfaoo
Love your vids, I’m getting better at beating my friends :D
Most likely my morning cold brew coffee kicking in 🙃
Anyone else watch every video he puts out
Amazing video as usual Drew! Clutch sheep port!

You almost traded orange his win with that 2 ore for sheep. He was pretty much ore stuck with 5 settlements down
Why not 6-3-4 and 3-4-8 and monopolize the wheat?
Love the channel, hate the super wide aspect ratio though
Yeah, I will adjust this. Colonist gave me an elite membership and this is how it looks.
U should add timestamp for start of the game (all players settled). Great video 💜
Most people can swipe through placements and figure it out quickly

Nice
2 hits 4 times, 8 hits 6 times
Huh??
