Razer Viper V3 Pro Review | Large Medium, 55g, top specs, symmetrical gaming mouse

  • Razer have updated the Viper V2 to make it more like the Viper Mini, but still the V2 size. It has all the top specs you could ask for and they even kept the weight low. Great mouse, safe recommendation, but whether it actually suits you or not, that's another story.
    As always, check the size guide and hand recommendations in the video.
    Forgot to add the height in the video, it's 3.9cm, so pretty tall now (most large mice are about 4cm high). And there was the usual limbo jumps, where the wheel gets stuck between steps then jumps at an awkward time. In the spirit of fairness, it was about the same as the higher ranked Finalmouse mice. It's a common problem on a lot of mice in games that require the wheel to jump. Hopefully we, as a community, can find a solution some day.

    The hand size guide is actually quite helpful. The number of reviewers that don't mention their hand size at all is absurd.

      It's actually the reason I got into reviews... realized I needed smaller mice than many others, so clearly mouse size and hand size matter. Was just saying the other day that with so many mouse reviewers now, we could cover a huge range of hand sizes and recommendations as a community, so yeah I hope they start doing it too. My estimates are basically just what I like but scaled up and down based on my hand size, then getting feedback from others.

    Good review as always but I still can't get why a lot of people are obsessed with having a wireless mouse. After all it always sits on your desk and it doesn't matter if it has a cable or not. But when you go wireless you either need to charge it or replace batteries depending on what you bought. While on the other hand you plug in a wired mouse and forget about it. It just works whenever you need it. More reputable brands have great braided cables thay you never feel basically. Also wired mice tend to be lighter because they don't have batteries in them which is a big plus.

    • @RocketJumpNinja
      @RocketJumpNinja  Місяць тому +2

      Unless you're going pro or are super competitive to the point you want to win at all costs... then it's not actually worth upgrading then. Besides, you could probably just get a faster pad and make it feel like the mouse is lighter than it is anyway, because weight is the only important upgrade here, imo. That's part of why I lost interest, these mice aren't THAT different to warrant getting excited about. Same old, same old. Mice have been great for years.

    • @willwunsche6940
      @willwunsche6940 Місяць тому +1

      @@RocketJumpNinja Thanks! I appreciate your insight as always. While I am sometimes a good amount competitive I am pretty happy with what I have. Might look into pads some more. I am on a basic older 15" cloth razer pad and a larger cheap pad I occasionally use, so there's room to explore. The feet on my ultimate are mostly worn out, might replace those too. The built in side grips are decently worn down but I don't mind.

  • @iitsMikeB
    @iitsMikeB Місяць тому

    Interesting. My analysis of the shape is not far from what you've said in this review, but I'm leaning more towards saying that this is a "G pro X'ified" Viper, in other words, a Viper without the huge flairs, and playing it safe. The moment you mentioned the thing with the scroll wheel, I immediately took my G Pro X, and was like: "This is exactly how the G Pro X has its scroll wheel". I can definitely see the Viper mini comparison though.

    • @RocketJumpNinja
      @RocketJumpNinja  Місяць тому

      Yeah weird thing about the G Pro X wheel is that it feels well placed for where my fingers sit, but the Viper V3's doesn't, despite both being an index finger back or so. That's probably something to do with the hump being in the middle on the G Pro X though.
      Viper V3 also has smaller dimensions than the V2, but feels bigger due to that hump size. It's not quite as simple as I originally thought.

  • @blurry9744

    I dont know, I should love this mouse, but I actually went back to my Endgamegear xm2we almost instantly, the viper v3 felt too large for me, so I felt like I couldnt control my aim quite as well as with a smaller mouse. I loved the clicks of the v3 though, but if I cant control my aim, its not worth it in my opinion, atleast for myself.

  • @AvantuPL

    And again no side buttons for lefthanded. Last good left handed mouses are Viper, OG Superlight (I don't like it) and modern one that his one Pulsar X2A. I purchased Pulsar X2A to try it out and replace my 4th Viper Ultimate, and ofc to support company who still cares about left handed players. Razer back in the days even had freaking deathadder left handed edition. I spam razer instagram about it but no luck yet. Anyway Viper V3 Pro top tier mouse and Razer seems to know what their doing, for sure they are doing better than Steelseries and even Logitech.

    • @jayhobspeedruns
      @jayhobspeedruns Місяць тому

      Yeah real annoying I'm personally not buying a new viper because I'd have to switch my whole input layout, I assume it's a somewhat inconvenient way to make them lighter. Is the Pulsar X2a good?

    • @AvantuPL
      @AvantuPL Місяць тому +1

      @@jayhobspeedruns Havn't received it yet but internet says it's good mouse. Specification wise there is no better mouse than X2A if you want buttons on both sides, optical switches, top sensor, lightweight, 4k polling rate. I read on reddit about quality issues, but people are complaining about quality issues a lot on e.g. razer, logitech, I had their mouses and quality isn't worse than other gaming mouses so yeah I'm not so skeptical but we will see.

    • @AvantuPL
      @AvantuPL Місяць тому +1

      @@jayhobspeedruns Got it and I gotta say that it is really good. Not ten times better than viper ultimate (which is still good mouse) but certainly better. Quality is ok and the weight does big difference. Mouse skates seem better too. side buttons are in similar position like on viper so you can adapt easily. Shapewise it has more hump and feels something between Razer Abyssus and Viper for me. I got medium size and it's slighty smaller than Viper ult. So more of a claw grip, palm grip better on viper ult for me. Finish is more glossy and no rubber grip, but wasn't big of a problem for me. Only problem i noticed is that when you tilt the mouse it scrapes mousepad, viper doesn't do that.

      @Joost. 27 днів тому

      One question tho. It might be a bit of a sin, so I'm sorry for asking, but because the back is easily replaceable, would it be an option to add a new back with the same shape but completely solid? The mouse is perfect but I'm hypersensitive to imperfections (I absolutely hate the thicker bit of fabric in socks near the toes) so I cant actually take mouse where I have to grab the holes.

    don't buy the mouse yet
    I noticed this on the desktop. Sometimes while I'm doing work and mousing around I'll notice my mouse will not move for a couple of millimeters. If you lift the mouse and set it down and slowly move left, sometimes the mouse will not move at all. I'm guessing this is some sort of lift off detection error happening? Anyone else notice this? To try it: Move your mouse as slow as you can, one pixel at a time.

    This sensor is actually not flawless, at least according to some user reports. I think Razer is working on fixing the firmware, but my understanding is that users are complaining of sensor delays from initial movement and also when lifting and placing down the mouse. I think we have also seen this at major esports events, at least with earlier firmware versions. Given the price of the mouse, I'll be monitoring firmware updates before considering acquiring one.

      Interesting, can't say I noticed while playing, although I'm getting back in practice again so might take me a while to get sensitivity to that kind of thing back. Apex Legends is useless when it comes to actually aiming, it makes me worse, so gotta start playing Quake a lot more again.

      @@RocketJumpNinja Not all users are affected. It's a bit like sensor spin out or LOD issues. +1 on Quake, I always think of Quake as true aim, at least as far as FPS are concerned. Aim trainers are probably the purest form, just not as fun.

    I disagree with your philosophy on Wheel placement. in particular, when gripping a mouse in fingertip grip it is actually beneficial to have the wheel farther back on the mouse. When I'm BHopping I prefer to have full range over the whole wheel,. Therefore if the wheel is too far forward, you can barely scroll backwards and have to rely solely on scrolling forwards.

    Had Viper Ultimate and V2 Pro since it was heavily recommended by RJN. After a year of using the Viper Ultimate, the rubber on the side got pretty much destroyed so I had to RMA that. Got my money back and bought the slightly more expensive V2 Pro. After another year of using that the mouse wheel stopped working and I noticed a weird feeling with the switches so the clicking wasnt perfect. I RMAed this one too and got my money back. So I just decided to buy Ninjutso Sora 4K, which was also massively cheaper than Razer. Seems that this "no name" brand created something that Razer can only imagine of creating. Flawless mouse and even after a long time of using it every single day, nothing is seemingly feeling broken or starting to feel broken. Only downside is that the software is pretty bad. But then again Razer one is also nothing special.
    I would suggest to not buy Razer and just get something else. Avoid this company.

      Back in the day, Razer had hit and miss products... I had DeathAdders last year and years, whereas other mice of theirs just failed real fast. I thought they had improved the quality and done away with the rubber due to it wearing out... surprised to hear you still had issues on the V2, but good to have the feedback as I can't test these things long term.
      Sora is great though, for sure. Although I have heard whispers of some issues there too. As always, nothing is perfect, just have to hope for the best.

      @@RocketJumpNinja Every product has their faults. It all depends if they are big or negligible. Razer has pretty big problems that causes the mouse to stop working entirely in a way or two. Personally, I would not expect those sort of problems in a product thats highly overpriced like Razer.
      What sort of problems does Sora have? So I can see if my mouse develops them later on.

      @@Razzak18Cz Can't remember right now, I just read through comments here and there and get a "feel" for what the community is experiencing... that's why I said whispers, because they weren't strong opinions or anything, just potential problems. I gotta look into it more. Mine seem fine but then I barely use them because I'm always using a different mouse or my own. I'll put these issues in a video if I ever find them myself, or I'll try to help the companies fix them if they can be fixed.
