- Today I'm welcoming the @Ableton Push 3 to my setup which is replacing my Push 2. The main goal is to be more flexible in terms of workflow and also to make my live performance setup even simpler. I'm planning a longer video on it, is there anything in particular you would like to know?

yeah ! Big fan of your work and glad you bought one 🙂 As an Elektron and P3S user, I would like to know/see how you integrate your Elektron stuff with it.
Are you planning to use the Digitone AND the Push 3 standalone together ? A video about how you set everything up would be great !
I got rid of all my "non ableton" plugins to be able to play live without a computer only using P3S and my hardware gear.

Really appreciate it. :) Like I said in the other comment thread I would love to use DN and Push 3 Standalone together but really Overbridge will be the issue here. I will try it out and see how far I can push it (pun intended) but I'm not sure if it will work out. And same here, I basically only work with Ableton's plugins in my livesets anyway to save CPU and it works great so far. I really like the FabFilter plugins but as I only use them for mixdowns I don't need them in the creative process or in a live set. :)

Will it replace the laptop for you during live performances? What are the strengths and weaknesses in standalone mode for you?
Great questions. Replacing the laptop definitely would be the longterm goal but I have to figure out some things first, biggest problem would be that Overbridge wouldn't be supported which I need for the way I use the Digitone in my setup. Let's see. And to the second question: I just recorded a music making video on Push 3 (probably coming next week) where I also talk about some things I like and don't like about it. Good news actually is that all the things are don't like could be patchable in future firmware updates.
@@MilesKvndra just saw this answer after I posted my question ! I am in the same boat as you (using overbridge for multitracking) but I bought the standalone version to be able to get rid of the computer... Not sure if that will be a big issue or not... The Digitone has only 4 tracks wich won't be a big issue for me but that's another story with my Syntakt... (I own the DN/DT/ST and got rid of my A4 to fund my Push 3)
@@technolover3035 Great to hear! Yeah I think Overbridge will be a big issue as I don't think third party plugin support will come any time soon (if ever). So I think the only way would be to use the classical connection with MIDI/Audio, however then I couldn't route all tracks to separate audio tracks which I really like for mixing. Need to wrap my head around it even more.
There are some projects for a breakout box to convert overbridge to 8 audio outs (without need for a computer). This could get 8 out of DT into a ADAT audio interface which in turn would connect to Push 3. Thing is it would waste all Push 8 ins and you could not connect Sub 25 and Mother 32. Well actually you could connect one of them to the analog in but not both.

@@MilesKvndra Posted the links here to Elektronauts but now looks like the reply is gone, maybe because of the links. There are at least two relevant threads there: “Digitone/Digitakt breakout box” and “OB for Linux”. This will probably lead to some dead end because not sure those projects are active.

Exporting tracks to Ableton. Can you send a single audio file as well as individual tracks.?
Very good question Damelos. So far I think you can only export full sets from the Push but I think it would be cool to Drag and drop tracks via WiFi into another project you are currently working on on your computer.
Hope it will only have a positive impact on your workflow, make your life easier and make your music shine. Not that your music didn't do it before!

Latency! If used for external Hardware Sequencing and live jamming, is latency same topic as with Ableton Live? There, I am unfortunately not able to reduce it to a level that allows me to play live on my Keyboards and Synhs with Ableton Live…
Good point. So far I haven't used it in standalone with hardware but what I've heard from other musicians is that latency is not a big issue with the standalone unit. But in all fairness I have to say I never ran into such big latency issues with Ableton as other people are experiencing them. Since everything is dialed in, my setup is running quite smooth.
