ScottInVa1760 Ronnies voice got more mellow as he aged. In the early days it was a very hard textured voice. But then it got a bit more mellow unmistakeably unique was his voice
I like the Ronnie's voice, specially between 60's and 80's. During 60's and early 70's his voice was hard and kind of a metellic bright in it, bit algo with a great low vocal register, i think he was baritone with a very particular voice color, very special. Then in the 80's his wasn't hard in the mid and high register, still very powerfull but with a smooth and mellow color, the low notes always great a gravelly. Sadly un 90's and 00's his voice got deteriorated, was kind of dysphonic, and eventually due to his illness. He was the greatest, i Also love Luke voice and how they complement each other, bit Ronnie's voice still my favorite. Greetings from Colombia.
think i knew about the energie decliening everywhere... Luke dead already, Ronnie had left before... and about his own mistakes. And still, look at all around them, names... who never had been that meaningful if Ronnie Drew, Barney McKenna, Ciaron Bourke, and afterwards Luke Kelly, John Sheahan, Bobby Lynch, and much later on Paddy Reilly and Sean Cannon wouldnt have dared...
Too bad Luke didnt live longer. Would have been great craic in this. Wish Ciaran wasnt in his final time too oh God i wish the Dubliners, all of em were still alive and well RIP
Yep... Ciaran knew he was basically fucked by then, and yet managed to make it to this. I hope they're having one hell of a craic on Fiddler's Green, and I hope I can one day join them.
Ciarán had a stroke in 1985 and he was paralyzed from the waist down and was blind because of it It breaks my heart to see him crying since he knew and we all knew it would be his last performance among a crowd R.I.P Legend
I'm only a youngfella but growing up my ma would always play the Dubliners and until recently I never got into them. The auld triangle always makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. Can anyone tell me who's singing along behind them? I know Gaybo God rest his soul & Shane McGowan but other than that I can't name the rest
Spotted Christy Moore..Jim McCann..All the Pogues..U2..The Fureys..Gary Kemp from Spandau Ballet and former Taoiseach Charles Haughey....thankfully no bob shekelberg geldofaid (he wasn't invited😂😂😂)
@@patrickambrose5372 he brought us decades of great performers and guests. Still doesn’t make him likeable. His manner to his guests was often patronising or sycophantic. And he wasn’t personally responsible for who appeared on the show. He merely fronted it.
John Sheahan still stands strong weighing in at 80 years young Kathleen, like an old but not yet weary veteran of the road he wields his musical weapons as proud as ever he did before. John has even booked himself in to play some Dublin concerts towards the end of this year which are surely not to be missed for any of us on or reasonably near Irish soil come December...
one of the most emotional Videos of the Dubliners. Rest well in Peace in Heaven with good Music and a Beer in your Hands.
To me, it seemed --unlike a lot of other vocalists -- Ronnie's voice got more powerful as he aged. What a immeasurably great talent!

Greetings from Colombia.
I watch this tonight, so many good and talented people gone, God Bless you All. So sad but that's life
Absolutely, magical and forever memorable. Thanks to all involved.
Ciaran Bourke, handsome as he was charismatic. A tragic yet beautiful figure.
Well done boys. RIP Ronnie. X
Brilliant. Irreplaceable legends.
This is from a show in 1987, good to see a 27yo Bono joining in.
That is television ( and musical ) gold and then some... thank you for putting on here, it's beautiful :)
Ronnie was something else. RIP to him, Barney and the rest.
Poor Old Ciaran crying he knew his life was short at that point

One day I'll be there on Fiddlers Green with Luke, Ciaran, Ronnie and Barney!
There was only one person, who, IMHO, could match, and indeed, outdo Ronnie on this song: Luke Kelly, another great voice.

RIP Gay...
Love the Dubliners. Can't abide Gay Byrne.
Yet he brought us this brilliant celebration of the Dubliners 25th anniversary.
@@patrickambrose5372 he brought us decades of great performers and guests. Still doesn’t make him likeable. His manner to his guests was often patronising or sycophantic. And he wasn’t personally responsible for who appeared on the show. He merely fronted it.

Pity about ya. Gay was fantastic.
Sometimes i thought he was brilliant. Sometimes i thought he was a dick.
And there was young bono!
Before the WEF bought him
Brilliantly hosted by Gay.
