I know I'm 'late to the showing' on this one, but, I did particularly like your opening comment. "It's my game and I can do what I like!" A fundamental truth which doesn't get iterated nearly enough to remind, particularly newish players, that it is in fact 'their game's. They should not feel compelled to religiously adhere to every word of a particular company's 'Canon'. Nice report, by the way.
I'm glad you liked the report. I'm a fan of lots of games and sometimes it is fun to mix them up a bit. I'm sure plenty of people stopped watching as soon I they saw the robotic forces, but I see no problem with tweaking things a little bit just for fun.
Hi Sean, thanks very much for this play thorough. At 19:10 you mention that your Grenadiers don't have to take a morale test as they saved the 2nd hit. I understand the rules to state that you take a morale test if your unit takes 2 or more hits regardless of how many saves they make. I guess it's based on the amount of incoming fire more than the casualties (until their strength drops to half or below as well). Much more likely to run away at that point.
Thanks for pointing that out. That could have had a significant impact on the game. I will be sure to make note of that for future games and make moral tests correctly moving forward.
Can artillery fire at a more threatening unit than the strongest one? Fo example let's say paratroopers are on the doorstep and threatening your captain...can you fire on them instead of the strongest unit who in a relatively non threatening position far away on the board?
I'd say the rule system is much simpler than any of those, but it is also easier to get started with. That can be a pro or con depending on your perspective. In addition, it has a built in solo system and that is a big plus in my book.
Depends on the scenario. The one I played here was just about killing your opponent. However, the game comes with 10 scenarios and some have different objectives: take an objective on the map, kill a certain amount of "stars" worth of enemy troops, kill specific troops (like a captain or a tank). The different objectives allow for a variety of scenarios and keeps the game interesting.

When you play the card, you can target any unit as long as you have a commander with line of sight to the target.
When you fire with the green allied squad you roll an extra die due to their ability on the card I believe.
Thanks for clarifying. I'd be surprised if I didn't get a few other thing wrong as well.
Nice video Sean. It'll be of great help to me as I've just got a copy of the game and this video will make my first solo game much easier! Thanks :-)
I'm glad to hear that. I hope you like the game. I think I will be playing this one quite a bit, but my games will likely take a sci-fi turn.
Cool!
How would you rate this game, compared to bolt action, battle group and flames of war etc?

Pity if it got a bad rep for being Airfix.
Are there objectives to pursue? Or is it just fight to destroy your opponent?
