That’s a first rate set old bean. Well presented once again and good on you for putting in some context. When you add narrative you become more immersed. Good to see cooperative rather than purely competitive gameplay. This in my opinion is the very best way to wargame. By helping and supporting each other you get a much better outcome.
Nice set up again gents, thanks for doing the detailed rules explanations - I still want a different activation system than I go you go, but it's a fun game to watch nonetheless!
I tend to agree. What I would say though, alternating activation definitely slows a game down. It is excellent for skirmish games, but as you scale up it really draws out game length. I do definitely prefer activating a single unit and it completing its actions, then swapping to a new unit, but it is not without flaws.
This is a great video and a very good format. Good for walking a beginner who might buy the set through a game. I loved the rules graphics with rulebook page references. Nice work. There was only 1 Mistaken Target roll. Was that because there was only one team that hadn't been assigned hits that was a valid target? Otherwise the player can keep rolling MT until they fail one. PS. The miniatures look great too. Good work on the painting. You set a good table, sir!
do you guys have any good recommendations for expanding off this box i am still new to the game and i dont have a good grasp of making lists and im not sure what book to get.
Didn't matter based on rolls, but the Meeting Engagement rules mean that the 76mm platoon on American Turn 1 would fire at their moving ROF, meaning they would need 9s? Unless I'm missing something...
thx for the introduction. I already ordered that starter set and now bought a german army on Ebay with the Fortress Europe book and the army cards. The "Panzerlied" you played in the end is verboten in Germany now. Inwonder what tye police would do, if they heard it thru on open window? I am also a certified "Kriegsdienstverweigerer". Would make up a silly story in the news, if I got arrested for playing this 'Lied' while playing a war game. lmao
Tour HQ unit doesnt have to stay together - you can send both teams in opposite directions as they dont need to stay in command or take last stand tests
@matcam89 yes and no. Bases more than 6 away from.leader are out of cohesion. They can hold, or move to catch up to parent unit. Essentially, you can drop bases off to hold positions etc...
Great BatRep! I'm thinking about getting one flames of war starter packs. Not exactly sure if i go with "hit the beach" or "clash of steel"..... I think clash of steel will have a better saving but hit the beach seems like a better balanced set ... an sadly quite older :/ One question to you guys .... where can i buy this tiny houses? I think they look great on the battlefield!
i don't understand why a tank unit with STABILIZERS would suffer a +1 to hit.... that sounds like the exact opposite effect of what a stabilizer even does
No specific scenarios in the main book, but you could easily have two players on a single team, especially if East German or something where you get a whole bunch of units for a few points.
Good video to learn the game, and lovely terrain. One small thing: instead of saying "over there", say "behind the hedge in the field on the American right flank". It makes the video much easier to follow when you can't see the picture (commuters, visually-impaired audience, etc.).

Oh for sure. Even a basic story helps to get a sense of what you are doing and what you are trying to achieve.
For sure! Once people start gaming with just the objective of winning the game, then it takes all the immersion and enjoyment out of casual gameplay.
Thank you, great introduction to Flames of War, I'll be watching all subsequent episodes.
We'll get them out just as soon as we can. They are filmed, just finding the editing time.

Great game, boys. Thanks for taking the time to explain the mechanics. Always helpful, even if you're experienced in the game. Well done!
Our pleasure! Hopefully we get most of it right!
Shared this with a friend who just got this box set.
Thanks Todd, I hope it is useful for them.
Really enjoyed this report guys. Hope to see more.
Glad you enjoyed it mate, thanks.
Looked like a fun game. The set up reminds me of Carentan.
I imagined many such actions shortly after Dday as the Germans rushed reinforcements into the sector.
Awesome table and easy to follow. Good stuff.
Why thank you sir.
What a beautiful table!
Thank you!
@@ModellingforAdvantage Did you guys build it all for this game, or are they modular? (Either way, extremely impressive work!)
@@TFZ. All hand built with lay on scenery. You can watch the table build in a video here: ua-cam.com/video/UKQwgwPQtw0/v-deo.html
@@ModellingforAdvantage Ooh I think I will!
really informative cheers guys, all the best mate, Garry
Thanks fella.
Yes,

Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaate!

There was only one other, un hit, eligible target , which we did not explain unfortunately. That was the limiting factor.
I really like your table setup
Why thank you.
Liked for the first double 6
I play FOW with paper strength companies (infantry, armour & artillery) using historical tactics - with the BA slant on drawing dice.
Interesting idea, does it play out well?
Great stuff.
Why thank you sir!

I like hit the beach
It sure is a great starter set.

You are correct, our mistake.

I learned a new word today - one which I could not hope to pronounce!
So cool!
Thank you
Tour HQ unit doesnt have to stay together - you can send both teams in opposite directions as they dont need to stay in command or take last stand tests
Oh interesting.
Do all the infantry units have to move together or can each piece move in different directions if wanted?
@matcam89 yes and no. Bases more than 6 away from.leader are out of cohesion. They can hold, or move to catch up to parent unit. Essentially, you can drop bases off to hold positions etc...
Id like to try this game out, but man i dont have the patience to paint the miniatures
Some people p;lay with unpainted minis. It is not my firs choice, but plenty of people play that way
Great BatRep!

One question to you guys .... where can i buy this tiny houses?
I think they look great on the battlefield!
Houses are just cheap mdf kits from UK eBay. Search for 15mm mdf houses.
do the tanks come pre painted? Or do we need to assemble and paint them?
Does the set come with any terrain?
No to both mate, this set is all about the plastic kits. Same models are in the World of Tanks Miniatures games and they come pre-assembled.
i don't understand why a tank unit with STABILIZERS would suffer a +1 to hit.... that sounds like the exact opposite effect of what a stabilizer even does
They get a higher rate of fire with stabalisers - but they have a reduced chance to hit.
@@ModellingforAdvantage I see, so it's a trade-off then. I suppose it makes sense when you put it that way.
If i build the Paratroupers i musst Play 5 bases . Is the unit Leader one of those bases?
What´s the measurements of this board?
4x4 - we film in may spare room and space is limited.
@@ModellingforAdvantage Ok, thank you.
Where is the sand? Clickbait title :) Where are the plucky defenders of Warmington-on-Sea?
Jonny B does have the Foundry home guard... he painted one of em I think!
Can 3 players play ?

Tried to watch but the British accent did it for me. Can you get some people to dub for you?
Not really sure what you would expect from such an odd comment as this.
@@ModellingforAdvantage a yankee dub would be really helpful for translation purposes
Holy shit that's the most American comment I've ever seen @@nicksaltzman2033
