- Moments after hoisting the Ray Scott Bassmaster Classic trophy, Justin Hamner sat down and gave an emotional interview as he gathered his thoughts from winning the Classic.

I can only imagine the feeling of achieving your dream, having your little girl in your arms, wife by your side. That little girl seeing her dad accomplish all this with her mother by his side is something that will stay with her forever. Congratulations Justin.
I love seeing him with his little girl rolling around in the confetti. If you haven't seen it, I strongly encourage you to go to bassmaster and look at the pics. That is something that they will always have.
Justin, when i seen you fish around my dock and come back the next day and fish it again i thought this cove might produce the fish that wins the tournament and how cool that would be. Well you did it and you have a new fan..Thank you for stopping by and giving us some great show, and lasting memory..you made us super proud.

Justin has been a good fisherman long before FFS. He had won many tournaments without that technology locally. His daddy is a good fisherman and his uncle is a good fisherman he comes from a line of outdoorsmen. I can promise all the haters that’s trying to suck the life out of this great accomplishment FFS or not he’s as good as anybody!! Give credit where credit is due. Congrats brother you the man and there ain’t no comment can take it away from you!!!
No actually, this was his first win and means nothing since he and everyone else snagged them off their sonar. Tournament fishing is a joke now

Ive got the active target 2 w a hds pro 12 and a rite hite turret. Bout 6 grand. Then i have two elite fs 9 that were bout 900 apiece. It’s insane. I couldnt in my right mind come out of pocket for it. I wrapped it up in financing. And to be perfectly honest, I find it to be a distraction a lot of times. But its fun to play w. Makes catching/finding bait way easier. Crappie fishing is addictive. But you can also find yourself toyin w tiny fish wasting your time. It’s a tool. Does not make them jump on your line. We see highlights for the most part. That makes it look way easier than what it really is. And it’s not always spotlighting individual fish. Great for isolating on structure or finding an active area. I don’t understand whats got these people so crazy. Maybe it is a price thing, but to jump in constantly just for the sake of being negative is draining for everyone. Let the man have his moment and save it for another time. Glad im not the only one who feels this way

He won it by being better on that day and in that tournament, than the rest of the field. Virtually all of the pros have and use a "spotlight" on their boat and have had for a couple of years now. So the field, as far as having equipment, is the same. The difference is this kid put it all together better than the rest.
Milliken is one of THE best "spotlighters" in the game and he fell off a cliff finishing 50th and Patrick Walters, who really stirred up the debate about FFS by using it to win on Fork a few years back, finished 30th. On the other side of the coin, (although like I say, most all have and use FFS), anglers that aren't noted for their FFS skills placed well. Livesay (5th), Hank Cherry (8th), Kyle Welcher (18th) and even old Clark Wendlendt (28th) cashed a check.
I tend to think there is much more to the pro bass game than dropping your TM, turning on the FFS, and magically catching fish.
@@bigc8018 exactly. Was actually at the Press Conference afterward and talking to all the guys only one person relied on it 70% of the time and it was not the Champ. This lake didn't allow for them to use it like some would like you to think. That said I so wish that those who call it "spotlighting" would learn what "spotlighting" really is and not just ride the fan boy wagon of Randy. Just saying.

This FFS B.S is ridiculous. Pros have been using FFS since 2017 but for whatever damn reason 2023 it becomes an issue. No one had problems for 6 years until everyone started using it and now it’s a problem.
Congrats Champ! As for Bassmasters… Quit patting yourself on the back this year and get back to good coverage. The Fox coverage felt like an infomercial not a sporting event! And why cut off the last hour of fishing??? Sure would’ve been nice to see Hamner catch that last fish on a Chatterbait.
