My FINAL Championship | Redcrest 2024 Lay Lake, Alabama | Kevin VanDam

- Birmingham, Alabama is a place that I have a ton of history and so many good memories from. I won the Bassmaster Classic here in 2010 and was so looking forward to my 2024 Redcrest competition. This was my final championship of my competitive career, my final shot. My tournament didn't go as planned but I had so many great moments with family, friends, fans, sponsors, and my fellow competitors. Bass fishing is the greatest sport on the planet and it's because of the people!

Can't wait for your 2nd career to start up. Thanks for all you do!!!!!
You are a true gentleman sir . Enjoyed watching you all these years .
It's super hard to say what you've meant to the sport & it's fans all these years. To say you set the standard just doesn't seem sufficient. Here's to you & your family living your best life moving forward ~ Thank You.
There will never be another KVD. Thanks for all you did for the sport. God Bless
Well, that was moving . One minute, I'm watching fishing. Minutes later, I'm crying like I lost the biggest fish of my life. Lol
Don't know if you read this stuff KvD, but thank you for the memories, and representing are awesome state Michigan 💯🐐. Good luck on everything else you get into 🤝🏼😎.
It’s so sad that the future generations of young fishermen will be nothing but live scopers. It’s taken some of us half of our lives to perfect our fishing skills, learn patterns, conditions, and baits. We actually get excited to catch a big fish. The future of fishing will be nothing but robots casting at a fish they see on a screen. Kevin Van Dam is the last of a dying breed of true accomplished anglers.
It truly is sad. Say what you want but Live scope has changed bass fishing in a strange way. KVD was the goat of the good ol days of bass fishing. He's leaving at the right time.
I well remember when this kid from Michigan burst onto the scene, winning check after check in tournament after tournament .. as if that was just normal. The name Kevin Van Dam quickly became synonomous with bass fishing. It was an event when he didn't finish in the money. He had an honest shot at winning everything he entered. Now ... nearly 40 years later ... KVD is undisputedly one of the very best ever, and likely one of the best there ever will be. Thanks for the memories, and the innovations you instigated in bass fishing. All the best.
Mans a true fisherman, a business professional and seems to be an all around good person. Helluva a career, congrats sir, well done!
You are the GOAT of bass fishing. Thank you 🎉
What a impact you have had on this great sport! Thank you.
Don't know exactly how to put this but for the past 33 years it's been so much fun watching and following Kvd's entire career. Just like the great Michael Jordan and every great ambassador of their respective sports they excelled at bringing us amazing moments in their careers watching Mr Vandam represent fishing to its finest. Thanks again Kvd for all the great stuff you did in this amazing sport we all truly love!!
Thank you for the support all these years!
Congratulations on a great career. God bless your future wherever you end up.
Gonna miss you on the trail but you have earned a well deserved "semi-retirement" - The GOAT of all time. God bless you.
The GOAT!!! I've had so much fun watching you over the years and I'll never forget watching you win the classic in person on the Ohio River at my home town.
I met Kevin for all of a minute... I went to pick up a free rod for a KVD Big Bass Tourney that I had entered in Springfield MO at Bass Pro... I walked up to the counter and out pops Kevin from a trailer, then he quickly scoops all the rods and says "Here! Just take em' all"!!!! Thanks Kevin, your a great dude man... Good luck to you and your family in the future.
Thanks for all the memories you have given the fishing industry ! You are the best !! KVD has and always be a name in my family when fishing comes up ! Congratulations on an outstanding career doing what you love ! Enjoy your new show ! Keep stretching that line !
It’s one thing to be the GOAT, it’s another thing to be even better person. Thanks for all the years and everything you have done.
I wish your run would go on forever
But tournaments will go on
He'll hang up his crank baits
But he never will be gone
I know he will fish forever
In the heart of every fan
And he will be remembered
As the best who has ever been
Geez think i cried more than your wife, you and your family have done so much, thank you for 33 wonderful years. 😭
It has been a pleasure watching you Kevin!!!!!!if I had to describe what it was like to see Kevin at the Sabine Tournaments, man he was 8 foot tall, all eyes was on him every year and he had a moment for every kid and true fan of the sport! GODSPEED KVD
That's why we have called KVD the Ice Man. He is a power house in the fishing industry. Thanks for all the memories. And we can't wait to see into the future.
Well done Mr. VanDam! I salute you!
Mr. Van Dam sir I'm 44 you're the reason I got into to bass fishing ! I still have my original strike king sexy shad spinner bait! You are the goat !!!
Love videos of yours and hearing your favorite lakes and tournaments and stories from your awesome unsurmountable life and career!!❤❤❤🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🍻
Lol i still have the sexy shad multi lure box, never used any out of that box, i rarely collect anything, my brother is a collector and autograph nut, me i believe in giving pros thier space, i helped Rick Clunn (barley) at Won Bass US Open never asked for autograph....but think i will treasure this sexy shad lure box.
I’m glad to have influenced you into the greatest sport on earth. Thank you for the support! Lots of more video content to come.
Well let get to it see how they gave me a bobble head doll and all the KVD discs. Knowing you got your hand on a lot of electronics other anglers didn't have. So the hard work is true and the drive is undeniably. God bless you and I'am a Fan.
🎣Thank You Kevin 🎣 watching you fish all these years and what you’ve done for this sport. It’s been an Honor to be your fan, and follow you. Thank You for the Memories. Love Your Family, and all that they have done to Support You. Look forward to seeing your new career, it’s been an honor 🎣

A true ambassador to the sport!!!
Thanks Kevin so many great memories , I have been watching you your whole career spinner baits : square bills; 6xd,s jerkbaits; all of the baits with your name and each you won tournaments on ! You gave me 30 minutes at Lake Fork when I think you lost your lower unit , talking Strike King lures. It was awesome! Best to you sir!
Thanks for the ride Kevin through all the years from beginning to the end I've always been a fan thank you for your determination and detication to the sport of bass fishing I know Ray Scott would be very proud of what you've done for the sport and for fishing in general I can't wait for the TV show enjoy your semi retirement and continue to make memories for your family and all of your fans you will always be the GOAT
KVD ! Now that’s a CLASS ACT.
Great job young man! You’ve left an amazing legacy for the whole world to follow! I’m 69 years young and I’ve been following you when all we could do is read about a professional bass fisherman kVD, the best! You’ve taught me a lot, I remember the best spinnerbait I got when you came along. I actually figured it out to slow roll it. It was amazing, how you have to feel the blades stop turning and reel down the slack and set the hook and he’s on! I still like it the best and this is the time of year to do it, thx buddy for for your example of being a real man and a real professional on and off the water. The other fishermen who think there a professional might become one if they follow your lead! I like the way you talk about your wife and boys and others. I try to do the same. I’ve got 5 kids and they all grew up fishing, my oldest daughter caught a 5 pound bass at age 3 years old, and reminds me of it every time I see her! LOL! Stay in touch with us. You still have a lot of years left in you, and Keep The Faith and THE ATTITUDE! 👍🥸🙏
When I was kid I remember playing as you on the Bass Master Classic video game for Sega. Every chance I had I would watch you on t.v. just to see you win. Pray that you and your Family enjoy the well deserved retirement. You will be missed, but never forgotten.
Wow that day 2 kept my contacts sliding out of my eyes! Thank you so much for sharing everything, Kevin. You and your entire tribe are very special and have made us smile for many years! 😊❤
They just don't come any better than KVD!!!
THANK YOU SIR for the decades of being an idol for this 52yo. You set the standard on the water and off.
I agree it's all about the confidence man it goes along way....and thank you Kevin for all you have done for the sport you are truly a legend... but it is a sad day this was your last one 😥
You can now hang your hat up beside Steve Yzerman. Hope to see on on St Clair some day don’t be shy and slide on over to the Ontario side. Love ya man!!!
Nothing but RESPECT!!!
Tremendous respect for kvd and both mlf and bass. Would have loved for kvds last event to been at this years classic on grand.
being able to do what you want enjoy doing for so many years is not only a fantastic thing but a privilege. then on top of that to have a family is so so special. god bless and i hope the best for your future.
Mark Daniels is a great guy and so good to hear y’all don’t have any hard feelings about the accident. Good people!!! God bless you Kevin Vandam.
Man. When DC beat you at Ross Barnett I figured you won. He won at this one. He has to be my favorite besides Gerald swindle but man. I would have loved to see you win this. Thank you for all the great times 🫡
The best!
Truly incredible video! Thank you for everything you have done for the sport and the fans over the years, and everything you will continue to do! No matter what, you are the best there is, was, and ever will be! 🐐

😢😢😢😢 truly the greatest fisherman alive! Seeing him retire definitely hurts a bit.
Truly a class act and truly the GOAT
When they speak of someone "leaving something better than when they found it". KVD is the exact type of person they are talking about. Thanks KVD.
Oh and Kevin congratulations to you and sherry!!
Class act and the GOAT!
Finally something good to watch on you tube thanks KVD
Emotional video for sure love everything your family has done for the sport!!🎣🐐
Thank you Kevin, for all the memories and all you have taught me throughout the years.
LEGAND BROTHER ALL THE BEST TO YOU!! ❤
I thought he was retired?? Such an amazing person to have on the tour. What he brought to professional bass fishing can't be quantified. I'm not sure it will be the last tournament we see him fish, but I don't want to assume it either. So, I'll join everyone else in the comments and give my farewell to -a- the legend...
A class act.
You are the living embodiment of what the sport is all about. Thank you sir.
From 25 year old from Indiana you were the first fishermen that inspired me to love fishing. By far the goat of my time! Huge thank you for everything you have done for bass fishing, you are a true inspiration. Enjoy retirement my friend, lots of love!
I saw you at the classic expo! I had so much to say but it all disappeared when it was my turn. So humbling to meet you.
A true gentleman! I have a feeling 'retirement' is not going to be very quiet for you. Enjoy sir.
thank you KVD I am so moved by your message to your wife
Love the kvd Nike air forces 😂
I will forever remember meeting you at Lake Cataouatche, (Des Alla Mands), Louisiana on that day in February, 2011 when you landed 68+ pounds to win, setting the then all time record AND later shaking your hand! THANK YOU for being a true professional and Ambassador for the bass fishing world (ps: here in Southern Louisiana we call those fish…”green-trout”)! John Castelluccio
The 🐐
Love this guy🎣🎣🎣🙏🏽THA' G.O.A.T OF BASS MASTER (MLF/FLW)🙏🏽🎣🎣🎣
ur the MAN the one and ONLY/KVD Kevin Van Dam 🔥🎆🎇🧨
Take care of my new boat. I know my name will be drawn. If its the only one in the group. But most of all, Thanks for being a Gentleman in the sport. Wish a lot of the others could have been more like you.
I had the pleasure of running into you a year or so ago up in Traverse City, MI while fishing for small mouths. You've always been my absolute favorite and reason why I love fishing so dearly. Thank you for years of content and memories Kevin!
We are blessed to spend time with you on God’s beautiful earth. Thank you 🙂
Had the pleasure of meeting KVD about 20 years ago in Indy at a Bass U! He was demonstrating different casting techniques. My buddy yelled out “around the world” before he could even finish Kevin flipped that spinnerbait around and put it an inch off my buddies nose 7 rows back from the stage and pulled it back like it was nothing! That was one of the best things I’ve seen in my 45 years and a story that has been told a few times!
Good luck in your new adventures GOAT!
THANK YOU KEVIN!
KVD your a true ambassador and inspiration even for anglers like me in other countries in the world . Learned a ton from you , enjoy your next journey . You have earned it .

I wish it ended differently. But we had many great years, I just wish you got one more
I totally agree with the guy about being a fan . I'm 50 yrs old and the emotions got my eyes leaking over here . I remember waking up on Saturdays with my ex wife to watch fishing shows and then using the tips we saw to catch fish . those were some of the best memories of my marriage next to my two sons . Thanks for all the lessons over the years .
Thank you for all the inspiration you give us all.
Thank you KVD for all the great memories and knowledge in the world of Bass fishing. On top of that you're a great guy. Enjoy your retirement, You sure deserve it. I think you're going to love it.
Kevin has been a champ even from the days way back when he flooded his boat hull just to get back into some fish way up in a creek channel and raced against time to get back to the weigh in with those winning fish!! Thanks Kevin for giving back to the port so the young folks can have the dream you have lived!
G.O.A.T.....thanks Kevin, for all you've done for the sport of bass fishing...God bless you and your family and enjoy retirement, it's the best!!..from a fan in west-central Arkansas
Man, you just don't know what you mean to people. I'm probably one of your biggest fans. When MLF had that chance, a fan could fish with you. I think it was on Table Rock. I was sure hoping it would've been me. But oh well. Enjoyed watching you compete. I was rooting for you. Enjoy your retirement and can't wait for your new show to air. Blessings!!
I appreciate the kind words!
Thank you Kevin. So much.
