ALSO I thought for sure I picked a song off Chaos A.D but APPARENTLY I didn't SO that's going to be our next album reaction for Sepultura. Love ya and have a great rest of your day!!
xoxo
Congratulations Darling 💜
Yessss that would be awesome to see you on Twitch!! Congratulations Hun!!! 👏👏👏❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Chaos AD is probably one of my favorite Sepultura albums, I don't think you will be disappointed at all. I honestly loved all of the Max/Iggor Era Sepultura material from Schizophrenia through Roots. Some of the later Sepultura material after Max left is ok, but still will never be able to hold a candle to the albums previously mentioned. They were absolutely on fire at at their peak prior to Max leaving, imo. it's a real shame actually that they couldn't maintain that classic lineup.
😍😍😍
That'd be one of the best choices, it surprised me that you jumped Chaos A.D. album when it is classic one by Sepultura (songs like Refuse/Resist and Territory are classic in live performances), hope you make that one 'cause it really rocks (and makes the perfect transition from Arise to Roots), that being said, you reacted to a band that (I don't wanna say "created") put in the map two different music subgenre, death metal (transitioning to thrash metal) and nü metal, that's why you noticed such a drastic sound change in their music.
In 1990 I went to elementary school, communism just collapsed in Poland and I got a Sepultura album: Beneath the Remains- It's their best album for me so far.
Legendary album
F communism
@@megadeth8592 yeahh i agree with you..BTR is their best album..i still listen until today
Fuck yea just saw them perform the beneath/arise tour ! They still have it!
Cheers from Brazil, "Polski" fellow! And now Poland gives us one of the best scenes in Extreme Metal! \m/
It makes this old man, metal-head happy to see the youth of today getting into, and appreciating music we grew up with back in the "olden days".
As a fellow old man Patrick, I endorse this message!
This comment itself made me feel old 😂🤘
When justice was done and music was true!
As long as u hate hair metal
Haha time flies, but some things don’t change 🤘🙏✌️
As a brazilian it is a source of pride to have a band from my country that is so big and influential worldwide, especially due to the influence of traditional brazilian genres in Roots. They are one the biggest Slipknot's influences and for the nu metal in general.
I'm generally not a fan of Nu Metal, but I adore Sepultura. That classic Speultura sound is timeless!
First time I went to Rio I saw the Iggor Cavalera clothing store and I asked my host family if that was the same Iggor from Sepultura. They said yes I bought a jacket and some shirts
Our South American brothers love Metal!
They brought samba to thrash metal. They made it kind of danceable and still fukcing awesome.
I'm peruvian, I have family in Brazil, but roots is not a good album IMHO, they changed after Arise
Gojira has stated many times that Sepultura were a big influence for them.
Still some of the greatest metal ever produced, Arise is in my top 3 albums of all time, I fondly remember being a teenager just losing my mind to these albums.
1). Megadeth - Rust in Peace
2). Sepultura - Arise
3). Death - Symbolic
if you get the chance go see Cavalera in concert. just saw them in Dallas 3 days ago and it is the best old school metal concert I've seen in years. cya
Scott Burns is one of the greatest metal producers of all time, his studio, Morrisound recordings, helped to develop the death metal sound of the 90s. Basically every single band who recorded in that studio became huge.
Oh man, I'm looking forward to this. Sepultura were my very favourite band for so long!! Some of the greatest riffs known to man. 🤘🤘
Part of the explanation for Max Cavallera's vocal style is that the band is from Brazil, and so with Portuguese being their native language, the process was to write it, then translate to English for the recording.
Chaos A.D is a masterpiece. One of the best from Sepultura.
Absolutely
Maybe their 4th best. Arise, Beneath The Remains, Schizophrenia. Chaos AD is good for a few riffs here and there.
@@butchvito Chaos A.D is full of hits. Refuse/Resist. Territory, Kaiowas, Biotech is Godzilla, Propaganda. It's amazing that record.
Im a "little late" to the discussion, hehe.. but i disagree. I much prefer earlier Sepultura (specifically "Beneath the Remains", and the album featured in this video, "Arise"). In fact i was so terribly disappointed with Chaos A.D after the monster that was "Arise" that it was the last Sepultura album i bought. I've only heard a couple of songs of "Roots", and they were not good. After that i've not heard anything as soon after, the band fell apart (Cavalera's leaving, etc).
Dude, seriously, check out Crypta. They've got a real modern twist on the old school combo of Death/Sepultura, but all female, Brazilian contemporary death metal. Crypta is the bees knees!
Also, Nervosa is another pretty amazing Brazilian all female metal band worth a listen.
Nobody would even pay attention to those two bands if they weren't "all female" bands.
My first introduction to Sepultura was Chaos AD and that whole album will forever be my fave \m/
Chaos AD slaps
Schizophrenia, Beneath The Remains and Arise are their best albums
1 arise
2 schizophrenia
3 chaos ad
4 beneath the remains (just because of the production, there is just something off about it for me)
5 everything before schizophrenia
Everything else don't matter
@@hellbach6268 Chaos AD is Groove Metal bullshit, the beginning of the end for them
@@FirebirdCamaro1220 lol ok bud that album was probably the most groundbreaking metal album of the 90s. Countless bands credit that album with influencing them hugely
'Beneath The Remains' album was recorded during the hot nights of August in Summer '88 in Sao Paulo, with Scott Burns coming down from NY just to be their studio engineer. The budget Roadrunner gave them was so low (8.000 dollars) that they have to record during the night because it was cheaper to rent the studio during night hours, and try to sleep during the day whith outside temperatures of +40ºC, and they survived eating mainly scraps and ham sandwiches in the process. Luckily after the release the band went big worldwide and they started doing well financially.
Beneath the Remains is still my favorite album from them.
Schizophrenia is such an underrated album (no one ever talks about it in terms of sepultura). In my book, their second best album behind ARISE.
Nice opinion but I wouldn't put anything against Beneath The Remains
Shit, everything before Roots is amazing. I respect that people like Roots but it's way way way overrated IMO.
Grabbed my original pressing recently, it was mixed so harsh in its time but to me today sounds way more melodic in parts, funny that…
The version of the song Troops of Doom u reacted is actually on their second album Schizophrenia. They done it firstly on their debut album Morbid Visions and there it had more black and death metal sound, but on Schizophrenia they remade it into a thrash song.
Exactly
And the line up is different too, it's a pity that her analyzes are imprecise
Troops of Doom wasn't on the original US Release of Schizophrenia. It was added as a re-recorded bonus track (track 10) when the album was re-issued in 1990.
The lineup was different. If I'm not mistaken, This was Andreas Kisser's first album with Sepultura.
@@leftinashes yes. In the first one, the Lead Guitarrist is Jairo Guedz, from the band "The Troops of Doom".
Original Sepultura will always be one of the best thrash metal bands of all time. One Tribe 🇧🇷 🤘🏻
Really love how her reactions are done in batches. Wish more people did it this way
You made my day with this reaction! Great job!🤘🏻👍🏻
i love his line in roots bloody roots "i pray we don't have to change our ways to be saved" always relevant
‘Laboratory sickness infects humanity….’ Arise - Dead Embryonic Cells
On the CD of Arise, “Dead Embryonic Cells” starts immediately following “Arise”, there’s only a very quick pause of less than a second. Whatever platform you’re listening to didn’t do the transition justice.
Believe it or not, they play the songs faster live. It’s ridiculous.
Cool to see you using Metal Archives on your videos to add some additional color to your commentary. It's such a useful resource!
You're really starting to get the headbang down now
Another great band from Brazil is Angra. It's a Power Metal band, a genre that is more melodic and have some huge influence of neoclassical music.
Standouts tracks are Carry On, Angels Cry, Heroes of Sand, Rebirth and Temple of Hate.
Yes!
Curious fact: Kiko Loureiro, one of the former members of Angra, is in Megadeth as the lead guitarist since 2015, and won with their crew mates the first Grammy of Megadeth for Distopia!
Hi, glad you turned up the music on your vids. Keep up the killer reactions with the heavy music. ❤️
55:30: "hopefully that works out, I'm assuming it does" - it didn't, it *so* didn't work out that Max and Igor Cavalera didn't talk to each other for decades
The Arise album tour was my first ever metal show and I haven't looked back. Totally amazing. And I got to see the Cavalera brothers tour 2 years ago for the 30th anniversary and they were just as brutal
Nice reviews, Kaiya. Good work! :) I've listened to Sepultura over 30 years, and it is great to see the younger generation get in to this music and appreciate it.
I'm glad you've made one heavy video from Sepultura. Your reaction on this one is amazing and pleasurable in your own way. Greetings from Brazil, sweetheart!
Thank you for your reactions and analysis, thanks for bringing back great music, you are adorable
1986 was the first time I listen Sepultura's Bestial Devastation... I was 14 yo, today I'm 50.
Pedrada atrás de pedrada, ótimas escolhas de músicas! Cheers 🇧🇷🤘
UNDER A PALE GREY SKY WE SHALL ARISE!!!
You gotta watch some of their old live stuff from around 91. Its bonkers energy. The crowds are wild🤘
Under siege live in Barcelona is one of the most insane live videos I've ever had the pleasure of seeing 🤘🏻.
@@ravensoulmetal8466 Still holds up as one of the greatest live performances, ever captured. I'm so glad it's on UA-cam since I couldn't watch my VHS tape of it for years.
@@apathyvox I have the DVD which is excellent.
I love how you enjoyed each song more and more.
Awesomeness
Yessss! Sepultura! I got to see them a few times, and with Pantera as well. Some of the best pits and energy for a live Metal act! The 90's were flooded with some of the best Metal you can get. Keep rockin' girl! Florida is where it's at BTW!
Great reaction... More Sepultura!! 🤘🤘🤘❤️❤️❤️
You missed one between Morbid Visions and Beneath the Remains. 1987's Schizophrenia. This album was my introduction to Sepultura and holds a special place to me. I especially love this one called "Inquisition Symphony". It was an instrumental that starts off with a Call of Kthulhu vibe but then gets heavy as hell! Underrated album.
She didn't miss it.. this version of Troops of Doom is from Schizophrenia album. Morbid Visions version sounds very different and the sound quality is horrible. Agreed on that Schizophrenia is underrated. It has some total bangers on it. Have you heard Inquisition Symphony played by Apocalyptica? Look it up. Just 4 cellos and drums. It's insane.
@@toiddiot1629 I have! Love it!
Bought beneath the remains solely on the album cover
That Breakdown in DEAD EMBRYONIC CELLS ....is So Slayer .
The look says it all!! I was handed a cassette copy of Arise in 1991 immediately changed my life. A year has passed hopefully you got to Cavalera Conspiracy? Welcome to the tribe kid 🤘👌👍
If you wanna check out another Brazilian thrash band similar to Sepultura, look up Sarcofago. They briefly had a rivalry with Sepultura, probably because their lead singer was Sepultura's original lead singer. But their sound, as well as their early imagery, was very influential to death metal and the 2nd wave of black metal. Bands like Slayer, Sepultura, Possessed, Kreator, and Sodom all had influences on death metal and black metal, but Sarcofago's influence is more obvious.
You had me rolling laughing on the 'Dead Embryonic Cells' breakdown with that stank face. It does that to anyone!
Lovely reactions.
Was at their concert in Adelaide, Australia in 94 on the Chaos tour,. Much moshing, drinking (and some other stuff) ensued. It is still up there as one of the best gigs i have attended, and i have seen hundreds of bands over the years (im old). keep the reactions coming, so many different genres of metal and hard rock for you discover. I kind of envy you !
50:20 "[the manager] is his wife... ok, hopefully that works out..."
Indeed :)
Gloria was the main reason why Max eventually left the band. Other members (including Max's brother - drummer Igor) requested the change of the manager and Max responded by leaving the band.
Igor left the band much much later, and rejoined with his brother in Cavalera Conspiracy.
Dude, a sort of long form reaction video diving into a bands discography and highlighting a track per album-what a good idea. And Sepultura is a favorite!!!
I like to split their discography by duo albums, because share a lot of elements and always change drastically on the next duo: Morbids Visions/Schizophrenia(Black/Death Metal), Beneath the Remains/Arise(Thrash/Groove Metal), Chaos AD/Roots(Groove/Nu Metal), Against/Nation(more hardcore oriented), Roorback/Dante/A-Lex(Back to thrash, but keeping with some hardcore), Kairos/The Mediator(Experimentation), Machine Messiah/Quadra(added some prog-ish and symphonic). Actually, the last two albuns are pretty good: 'Machine Messiah' and 'Quadra'. I recommended it.
Amazing video! Thank you for share it with us.
Sepultura live in Barcelona (Under Siege) is the best metal concert ever, you could try it sometime.
It's interesting to hear you comment on the heat, as some of my earliest memories of Sepultura were during a summer in 1990 when a tree had fallen in this yard of the house I was renting and it was the middle of balls hot summer... and we had no other way to get rid of it except to cut it up and burn it so I remember listening to "Beneath The Remains" at full volume at 3:00 in the morning hacking this thing up with a chainsaw and burning it in the fireplace where it was giving us all sweat lodge hallucinations from the hot pervading every pore of our bodies. It was very metal. By the by, it is an interesting note that from a production standpoint the "Beneath The Remains" album was one of the first that ushered in the era of modern thrash and Proto death metal production techniques , with the result being a appeal to a wider market. The engineer, Scott Burns, was one of the very first to really take seriously how to get music that fast recorded in a clean manner where you could really hear all the instruments and the articulation of said performances correctly. As a result bands flooded Morrisound Studios in Florida to get that production sound and between this record, "Tomb of the mutilated "by Cannibal Corpse, and "slowly we rot" from Obituary.. they pretty much set the tone for how death metal was to be recorded for the next 3 to 4 years. There was a glut of everyone's album sort of sounding the Same by the end of that, but initially it was all very exciting. Lastly.. I sent you a message via posting to another video deeper in your catalog here of my opinion on the next crucial full album review it is long overdue for you to take on your metal journey. I'm sure you will find it and I promise you won't disappointed when you hear the mighty king diamonds magnum opus Horror concept masterpiece.. 'Abigail."
Brasil summoned here!! Thanks for the react, there's a lot of other ver good songs, loved your video big hug from Brasil
Brilliant, I just bought that album on CD. It was awesome. Applause! I bought it to prep my mind for Sepultura, since I saw them live a couple of weeks ago.
Thanks to support our metal!!! Sepultura use to be are main metal band! Today is Krisiun, listen to Hatred Inherit
Happy to see beneath the remains on here. Absolutely crushing start to my favorite sepultura album.
So sick, Dead Embyonic Cells is one of my favorite songs of all time, cool to see the young folk checking it out
If you liked Sepultura you definitively have to watch the entire "Barcelona under siege" 1991 concert... its freaking amazing and powerful. Another band that i would like to suggest you is Exodus: they're like the first thrash metal band alongside Metallica and they definitively crush!! Five exodus songs: Deathamphetamine, Blacklist, The Toxic Waltz, Bonded by Blood and the Strike of the Beast (for this song i strongly recommend the live video from Exodus live at Wacken 2008)
Well! I guess I have to blame Sepultura a lot for me beeing who I became and who I still am musically today. Black/Death metal guitarist for more than 3 decades:) I first heard them back in 1989 or 90 when I got Beneath the Remains on cassette from a friend. I was about 14 years old, and rest is history hehe. I had Metallica albums and other thrash albums before that, but this was something extra. Still today Beneath the Remains is one of my favourite abums. Glad You liked it and great reaction:)))
Hi beautiful ❤
Seen Sepultura live twice. 1st time was in California with Helmet & Ministry. Second time was in my homeland of Puerto Rico. They were amazing both times. They truly do not disappoint. Hope all is well in your world. ❤ - Eli
They were an amazing live show at The Warfield in SF on the Refuse/Resist tour!!
Amazing song. Great reaction
shoutout to the Acacia Strain shirt. Only live show I've ever attended where it felt like the pit might actually hurt me.
I think one of the things that made Roots sound so differently than the other albums was because that was the first Sepultura album that Paulo Jr. the bassist ever played on! He didn't play on any of the previous Sepultura albums. Max or Andreas did the pass parts for all the previous albums. They didn't have confidence in Paulo's ability to play well enough. Cheers Imakaiya. I was blown away by your review of Sepultura's music.
Max & Iggor Cavalera FTW. As usual I totally enjoy your reaction. Arise would be a nice full album listen for you, thank you Kaiya.
When you said ‘oooo’ on the first track, then that smile of ‘Hellyeah’ !!
Saw them in high school at the old paramount in NYC (right when Arise album came out) i think they opened for Ministry…can still remember that night it was brutal and people were all bloody by the end , it was awesome.
I saw Supeltura on the bloody roots tour then again a few years later when soulfly came out. Max C. Is a beast, how he could play both sets night after night is beyond me. I was a 80s kid so I got to witness Metal being born from Led to Sabath.... Metal is in my blood, it's my church, my savior, my therapist, my frail grip on sanity. Megadeth, slayer, Anthrax, Slipknot and korn are some of the best concerts I've been to. Love your reactions and wish blessings on you and everyone watching your channel. 🤟
you are so adorable! Congratz
Welcome to the tribe 🤘 Nice react.. Subbed
Saw them with Pantera long ago. Members from both bands came out to play tribal drums for this track! Amazing show!
I saw a Pantera home video with them. I think they were playing “Kaiowas” from Chaos AD. Did they do that for multiple songs?
@@beatmet2355 not sure. I've only seen sepultura once
Great vid! Sepultura rules. A pity you didn't do anything from the Chaos AD album (my fav). Some absolute classics on there (Territory, Biotech is Godzilla, Refuse/Resist, Slave New World, Propaganda to name a few).
The version of "Troops Of Doom" you reacted to is a re-recording that was released on reissue versions of the album "Schizophrenia". ;-)
Sepultura is one of my top 5 bands. My first Concert was the Pantera 'Far Beyond Driven' tour with Sepultura and Biohazard. Legendary first concert!!
The version of Troops of Doom you listened to is actually a re-recording they did in 1990 (between Beneath the Remains and Arise). The original is actually a lot more raw, believe it or not. They added the intro on the second version. Also, the covers for Beneath the Remains, Arise and Chaos AD we’re done by the fantasy artist Michael Whelan. Nightmare in Red is the title of the painting for the Beneath cover. That t-shirt was my go-to through most of high school.
The original is more darker sounding as well
And his wife Gloria being the manager is what caused the riff between Max and the band leading to his departure.
Sublime réaction pour un sublime groupe !!! 🤘🤘🤘And lovely girl for sure 😉
Arise is a METAL MASTERPIECE from start to finish.
Kaiya I would love for you to review Cannibal Corpse one day, amazing death metal band. Grew up listening to all these bands you are reviewing and I love your passion for this music from the past, this was the pinnacle era of metal 🤘🏻
her first metal reaction was cannibal corpse…
I had that cover with the skull painted on my leather jacket a few years after the album came out. Still have it
Bestial Devastation, Morbid Visions,Schizophrenia and Maniac The Remains are their Best albums🤘🤘🤘🤘
Yes I saw Sepultura live, 12 days ago. I wasn't in the pit, but my friend was most of the time, it was insane.
Roots was a revolution in metal music, and it is great album, everything with Max Cavalera was great, and then after Roots, he left the band and he made a new band-Soulfly, first album was in the style of Roots, but everything from Soulfly is great 💪🤘
Sepultura, Nailbomb, Soulfly, Cavalera Conspiracy....what Max (and Iggor) do is nothing short of genius.
Great song. One of my top favorite metal song
Great vid!! Love Sepultura. Please give Ne Obliviscaris a listen. An Aussie Melodic Progressive Death Metal band with a phenomenal catalogue to choose from. If you like Opeth you will love these guys.
"Bass is getting slapped, shes getting showed a real good time" fuck 🤣💪💪🤣💪🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I had some doubts regarding your reaction at first, but now I can say you easily point out what Sepultura did the best : riff, percussion, transition. Thanks and keep going
Saw Sepultura with Pantera in like '93-'95 that shit was legendary. it was THE time to see them
Oh my gosh you're amazing
I have had the privilege of seeing Sepultura live many times, and yes, they kick ass! In fact, one of my favorite concerts is when played the Arise album in its entirety in a small Rock/Metal bar in São Paulo, Brazil. No matter, what some whiners might tell you about post-Cavalera Sepultura, the "new" line-up is a sight to behold.
@Andy Speaking of whiners. Derrick Green is not awful, far from it. He brings a great energy to his live performances and does a great job with both the new and old material. Which is much more than can be said for Max who is about 20 years past his prime and is just sad to see live, the way he barely plays his guitar.
Yep, saw them live on the Chaos AD tour, outstanding
This made me want to revisit the Sepultura discography, I think I will.
1. Metallica
2. Pantera
3. Sepultura
4. Death
My 4 favorite bands
Fuck yeah
1. Death 2. Pantera 3.Slayer 4. Sepultura 5. Lamb of God 6. Gojira ....
dead embroyonic cells is a masterpeice.
You should check out AngrA!! a legendary power metal band from Brazil
First time I ever heard Sepultura, was Dead Embryonic Cells on Headbangers Ball. I was instantly hooked. If they ever decide to get back together and tour with the Arise lineup I would travel pretty much anywhere to see that show!
The 80s metal thrash sound is mostly due to low production budgets lol it's not a conscious choice per se. Also band budgets ie gear. Although im sure some bands might have heard an album and were like "let's record ours like that!"
One of my all time favorite bands
Living about an hour away from Charlotte and about an hour and 25 minutes from Asheville I've seen many metal shows in NC always fun and and always great music.
BLOODY ROOTS !!!!I LOVE 💘 IT
Arise is/was the height prime of their death/thrash powers. After this some solid material, but no longer high grade death/thrash.
Roots bloody roots is from the album "Roots", the last album with Max Cavalera as vocalist. After Sepultura he created the band Soulfly ( an amazing band)
a metal girl wow ..😍😍 greetings from Mexico. 🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽
Cool...I lived in Asheville for 16 years. I moved back to SC in July 2021. I miss it there. Anyway, the cover artwork for Beneath the Remains and Arise was done by the artist Michael Whelan. If you like those pieces, you should check out some of his other artwork. The guy is amazing. Cheers, and keep up the great work.

YES!! I've seen Sepultura and actual Cavalera's Conspiracy and they are BRUTAL!! Salut i metall!!
First real concert I went to was Sepultura on tour for beneath the remains. I didnt know anything about them. It was a great show. I wish I was not so drunk and stoned that I could remember it better.
