Sam and Colby are two of my favorite UA-camrs so I challenged them to a game of Medical Heads Up! We went back and forth trying to get each other to guess the medical term on our heads, from acne to asthma to acupuncture and everything in between. Then I answered some of their most pressing health questions, such as allergies and depression. This is the collab I didn’t know I needed. I’m basically fangirling rn because Doctor Mike and Sam and Colby (three of my favorite UA-camrs) are in the same video. It’s like old and new friends meeting each other for the first time and telling stories about you, but UA-camrs sharing their knowledge and skills.

That moment at 4:25 is what makes dr. Mike special, cause he really does love random questions. Family medicine doctors are like that whilst someone like me, a specialized doc, I feel like we really hate these general wide questions. Sometimes patients just dumbfound you, sidesweep you with a totally random, borderline medical question. It just hurts me, very very deeply, when I have to answer questions like that.

I have oral allergy syndrome. It’s so fun! Haha I’m allergic to all trees, weeds, and grasses. The shots helped a lot. I was allergic to strawberries when I was little and now berries are some of the only fruit I can have without reacting to it. Adding peanut butter can help I’ve noticed.

I like how he explained depression, I had it when I was a teenager and it would have been a mix of childhood experiences, negative comments from others, learning difficulties ending up in a huge self hating storm. Now I'm older I'm able to understand how it all contributed to that. The thing that helped me was falling pregnant with my now 14 year old son "wtf am I doing I need to be strong it's not just my life now he comes first" 15 years and 6 kids later I'm surprised I'm not a blubbering mess 😂

I wish he had talked a little bit more about the chemical imbalances because some people need medication to sort that out. It’s not just about ‘thinking different thoughts’.
@@zarabzara284 They're all connected. Your thoughts control your hormones, in a way. Increasing the level of certain hormones would make you more rational and more open to correcting your thoughts, but as long as you don't stop thinking in that level of negativity, your chemical levels will probably fall back down.
@@SomeOne-mr9fe sure, in some people. Therapy was not enough for me. Therapy was not an option for my sister for a variety of reasons. Medication saved both of our lives and has allowed us to thrive.

Guys, he understands that he messed up. He's still an amazing person and doctor. He clearly regrets what's happened, and what's done is done, it can't be changed. Y'all are attacking him for be human, he explained why he thought what he did was reasonable, he wasn't "making excuses". And for y'all to have the audacity to say that you don't have respect for him anymore is really messed up. He has saved so many lives and helped so many people, and brought new lives into this world. This is proof that no matter how much good you do, people will only see your mistakes. It's disappointing that this is the world we live in, where people are incapable of forgiveness and can't find it in themselves to be understanding. Also, on the apology video, he mentioned being happy for the first time in a while and people in the comments were immediately invalidating what he was saying by saying that people without jobs or can't see their family is worse and while that maybe true, you can't invalidate anyone's feelings or experiences. Being a doctor is hard, being a UA-camr is hard. People don't realize that being a UA-camr, you are forcing yourself to be vulnerable and allowing all eyes to be on you at all times which can cause a lot of anxiety, stress, even depression due to constantly having to seek approval. Let's grow up and be better.

I never expected a collab like this.
There is also a 3rd allergy test your can do which is a skin prick test. Basically it’s just sharp plastic with the allergen at the end of it and you get it pricked on your skin. We do it all the time at the allergy clinic I work at.
When Sam started talking about his food allergies I immediately went oral allergy syndrome 😂 we see it all the time.
