I love seeing that robin, he just comes right up close to you, so cool
The Robin is the cutest darn thing. Makes this video all the better!! Don't think even Peter really knows how much he adds to his instructions!!
Thanks Peter. Nice to see Robin still taking advantage of his humans digging up his grubs for him. Nice trees. One of my first bonsai is one of this type of juniper.
The Robin is so cute, smaller than ours in 🇨🇦, but same color. I learned a lot about bonsaï by Watching your videos. Thanks 🙏
Birds should be a sensei by now. Waiting for him to style one of peter's trees.
Should do a contest to name the robin
@@genefreeman1901 tori-chan
Gotta love that last big tree 😭, splendid Peter 👍 thx for sharing. Hope to see more and can't wait for the next one.
Thats a cute tiny bird :)
I love that crazy birb Robin
♥
One more master lesson and robin appreciates it. Thanks Peter.
Thank you, Peter. A wonderful display of true Bonsai artistry. That Juniper must now be worth many thousands of pounds Sterling.
It's lovely to see the resident Robin, which seems to totally trust you and your staff.
You're right, you can't please everyone. Your own ideas are sometimes quite the opposite of what you see or feel yourself. But it is also a good thing, because this is how we learn to deal with other people's views on life and how to deal with them.
I’ve watched so many of your tutorials I’ve lost count. Very informative. Addicted
Sunday breakfast time.
Sphagnum moss from Wales, did that come from one of my past comments?
Well I’m going to think it did 👍
when he said he was in the club scene in the 70's, i got a very different picture in my head. Party on peter, party on
I was doing both - bonsai and other
@@peterchan3100 i imagine disco peter with a perm and roller skates, or rock and roll peter with long hair and a head band. either way im sure England in the 70's was pretty dope
The top of the tree at the end looks beautiful. The whole thing is a great display. I think this one looks excellent from any side.
I've been watching your channel ever since I discovered it. I've been looking out for potential bonsai growing in the wild for several years now. I have one I dug up and put in a pot several years ago, I think this year I'm going to do something with it.Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
I don’t have that tree but still I’m watching
GREAT…!
THANK YOU HERON… FROM MEXICO.!
I didn't think it was a Robin at first, but it's a European Robin, and it's much more pretty, and dainty, than are big-ol american ones, lol
Very nice...one can really see the lovely curvature of this tree.
meyer's juniper has fallen out of fashion although bonsai is innocuous pastime , lol that's funny
I would love one of those big trees 😍😍😍 they are beautiful
So kind of the robin to come give a hand.
The transformation was amazing

Thanks again Peter always so nice to see you work on trees in your garden!!!!! :::=^)
Love this channel so much thank you for your doing
The robin is your spirit animal 💗
I myself love junipers. and I have several such bonsai.
So beauty, and I'd marvel at the opportunity!! so amazing and beauty trees!!
Bird: where all the dang worms
Thanks for sharing your secrects, I have dificulty with yamadori transplant Quercus Suber, next year I'll try with spagmoss 👍
So beautiful
Such a beautiful little friend.
I have so many trees that I have not even tried to style yet. Even though I have been a beginner in this for about 20 years, I have no clue where to begin with most of my trees.
Three of my trees in my collection, are Trident maples, two of which are about 10years+, and came from very reputable bonsai nurseries here in the states, but they are SO complicated in they way they are growing, ( one has a single root, but divides into three main trunks, the other is a single trunk, but was cut back very close to the trunk ) I have NO clue where to begin. I wish I could have the vision you have to see what is possible, to make the right decisions, and the knowledge to know what a particular species can do and respond to..its amazing.
I’m a great fan of these and have started to grow one myself and I love it ,time for a revival 🙏🏻
Beautiful 👍👍👍👍👍
Dear Mr. Chan,
I am an avid watcher of all your You Tube videos and look forward to each and every one of them. I was wondering if at all possible, if you could make a video on grafted trees. The process, advantages and disadvantages (if any). I am living on the eastern coast of the US in New Jersey, and I have many different cultivars of palmatums. They’re my favorite also. Thank you so much.
I don't do grafting myself but we have some grafted trees- but I will touch on this at some point.
I like err on leaving the tree large for awhile and see how I like it. I can always make it smaller later.
Nice sharing sensei...👍👍👍
Yeeeeeah, you could split the top deadwood and make it seem as if lightning hit it
Do not agree Mr. Peter, with all my respect and humility.
junipers are like classic music 🎵 never unfashionable and always an inspiration.
Thanks for sharing your knowledge 🙏
I'm thinking he's going off sales.
So happy
Hey Peter can you show us how leaf compost process is done on your nursery?
Nice...
Looks like I found my MASTER... lol
I notice more back budding on my deciduous and evergreens in very damp conditions. Softer bark, maybe?
Peter, I'm sure you'll say yes, but have you met Harry Harrington? His carving is gorgeous, truly a natural style that enhances the look of the tree.
Yes I have heard of him but never met him. I am of an older generation
Don't get me wrong I am watching you, Peter. I have been keeping my eye on that robin for quite a while now. He is definitely getting more confident around you guys. Are you feeding him?
No - the Robin looks for worms when we tease the soil.
1) I think that's the most stunning tree I've seen you do - amazing!
2)I think that's the cutest little robin I've ever seen
3) I think we should name the robin Nathan ... or Batman
Batman.. I like that....
Who is Batman and who is Robin ??
Happy Mother’s Day
Do you ever have problems with apple cedar rust on your junipers and if so how do you treat it. Thanks for all your knowledge and passing it on for others to learn.
Dangerous virus - No I have never had this but have seen Junipers in private collections that have it.
I've been told to use a copper solution a few times in the fall, after august.
@@peterchan3100 thank you Peter for your reply. I have 2 junipers bonsais and found it on 1 of them last year pretty bad and got told to just burn and destroy the tree but could not bring myself to do it as I love the 2 trees so just cut it back every branch that had it on it got removed and did some restyling on it and fingers crossed no more as of yet but have been told it grows from the inside of the junipers.
@@Blaydrnnnr thanks will look into that if it returns this year on my junipers hopefully it will not
Have you ever tried making bonsai from the monkey puzzle tree? Definitely seems like it would be a tricky one to do. I have a large tree gowing next to my house but I rarely see them
If ever there was an impossible tree - the Monkey Puzzle tree is THE one.
@@peterchan3100 I think that sounds like a challenge don't you?
I agree with you Peter. I would get rid of the jin on the top. It messes up the proportions and geometry of the apex.
Yes.
Bonsai From a Large Juniper Squamata
Đẹp quá ạ
I’m going to go out and get a juniper then step back and say “now what would Peter do?”
30:16 I thought the robin was a small mouse :D
🌲
Have you tried the bag trick on the yin Peter? 😊
🔥❤👍
So should we experiment and if we enjoy it and it works for us its good or is it the wrong approach to carve just for the sake of carving?
👍👍👍👍
Do u need to water pines everyday? Im from vancouver canada..thank u sir.
Christopher robin is getting tamer
Don’t you get prickled by the leaves? I’ve just bought a blue star and he’s a bit prickly but I’m still going to make him into bonsai 🌴🌳🌲
I wonder how you keep all those pots watered?
I’d like to see more of a jin all the way down the tree like one of them you find on the edges of deserts in America all wind swept learning and bleached with life sprouting back in the form of occasional desert clouds along its main trunk
I also hate the left over jinn, but what sells, sells.
Really not seeing the beauty of the branchless side (maybe a camera angle thing), the "other" side much better imho.
Moss bandages were used in World War I.
27:00 Birb
30:10 I wish I could work in such a peaceful place where birbs feel at home to just hang out without worry like this.
How many HA has the nursery? It looks like big lot.
Who is the another old man peter? Say hello from me,Im from India. A little bonsai lover🙂
He works for me and I am 22 years older than he is !!
@@peterchan3100 you look quite younger then him😮😮😮😮
Wish you would please highlight the bonsai carving person mentioned: Kamari? KonMari? Or ? Thank you.

Not quite 👍
Why not change the name to Robin's Bonsai Nursery... after all I have yet to see a Heron ever coming to show any interest in what you are doing...
“The famous Peter Chan trick” regarding the wire being left to strangle the trunks... can you explain for the wider audience as to why anyone would leave the wire in that way? What were or are you trying to achieve?
I don't remember the point of it , but I do remember it discussed in one of his earlier videos.
The trunk isn't strangled. When left, the wire will give the trunk a special look, that's all. It's an acquired taste, I quite like it.
