Adam here 😊 It was a pleasure to help you with this video Peter! 😀 Can't wait to see what you do with the rest of this tree in the future! Keep up the great work!
Thats awesome u got to film with peter.! I got into this hobby a year before covid and its the best move i ever made. Now owning a bunch of books like john naka 1 and 2 and prob around 10 bonsai plus 30 diff young maples this hobby really got addicting fast🤣 and expensive 🤣 . U should also give a look at bonsai mirai on yt. Between ryan neil and peter ive feel soo lucky to watch all this great info
Four years ago this month my entire home town burned to the ground. Since then I've have been staying with relatives and friends. Not really having my own place to garden. With bonsai I can move the small magical plants with me until I find a home. I'm very eager to learn. I can also take the new small trees and plants from the regrowth from my home in Paradise California to bring a little of Home wherever I move to. It is amazing now to see the new plants and animals that now call my old place home. There are new plants there now that were never there before, and water from a neighboring property has become a vital water source for all kinds of wildlife. So it's true, out of ashes comes new life. Thank you so much for suggesting the Irish man too!
I hope to see the follow up video when the tree is more "finished". I know the tree will grow in over the next few years, but even seeing it sooner with the carving and detail wiring done would be elucidating.
I never really had grandparents as they died before I was born or when I was little and don’t remember them. I would like to virtually adopt Peter as my grandpa.
Through the full process, I had the idea in my head of the side of a mountain when looking at the main trunk. I love the way Peter Chan described it as 3 trees coming together, makes me think of a raft almost, but still standing strong and tall. I would be quite tempted to leave a great deal of small plastic green army men at the base of so many of the beautiful specimens.
Ohh, I should say my nearby mountain so that the editor may know. Witchita Mountains, I hear they are quite old, but we have been firing rounds at them from Fort Sill since the dawn of thunder.
I’m glad you went for the large bonsai style. It really reminded me of large pines you see in a forest, straight trunk and a top that somewhat looks like antlers. Could be a great forest planting if you group some of those together. Perhaps on a big plate of (imitation) slate. Impossible to move it afterwards but that sure would be a sight to see!
Love the progress of the tree, Lookinf forward to a follow up of it in the future. Thanks for sharing. I have seen adams channel to great to see more young ones getting into bonsai
I will second the lot of choices = dilemmas point, I always find pruning small trees with lot of branches takes much longer than bigger trees without that many branch choice
When I’m watching Peter work, I’ll call out to my daughter in another room, “Uh oh, Peter’s brought out the loppers!” and we’ll laugh and wait to see how it all ends up… ❤️
Hello Peter Wasn't sure how to message you. Found a you tube channel with your work beening used. Name of channel Win Van Ooyen People have questioned him about this thought you should know. Cheers from down under
Watching and wishing it would become a Death Valley juniper with a drastic windswept lean with bleached old trunk and live bright coloured veins with horizontal cloud foliage.. but oh well wait and see but, I have feeling it’s just going to be a chopped formal upright with quickly made wired branches :(
@@nickjohnson710 because I don’t have 30 years to let it grow that big, it’s great starter material and besides Peter always makes great trees when it’s not just for a quick video.
@@YunaOnHome anticipation??? I've pretty well watched all of Peters videos and know or guess what he's going to do ,he makes things simple to follow, that's his secret.....as he as said in the past " it's not rocket science "
Don't mean to be rude because lots of people here get very excited about your videos as I do . However you said yourself anything over a metre is to big for a bonsai. The large branch above lower Wright and upper left needs to be removed. You could take everything thing off .and just leave the lower Wright with a large jin or carving. Also to create tapper . I hope you can appreciate my apinion.
I would remove the lowest branch, too thick, the rest is fine. Oh and definition of bonsai is tree in a pot. That’s what it means. And if you check out Vietnam style ficus, those are huge.
@@nickjohnson710 this was directed towards vega stating a meter is too tall. There is no such thing as too big bonsai. That’s all. But I guess everyone likes to feel offended by everything nowadays

Great to see younger people involved in bonsai, this guy has his own video channel in Ireland worth a watch.
Jeff's Bonsai it's called. Thank you I had to find it!
@@jeannette.sgili.132 glad you found it, he is learning from the master Peter Chan.
Yes he certainly does, it’s called ‘Notion Bonsai’, he’s very articulate and knowledgeable and already has over 2K subscribers! ✌️
Not Jeffs, Adams channel is NOTION BONSAI as I said. There you’ll find his vid of Peter Chan n Herons Bonsai amongst many others!! ✌️

I was hoping Peter would have done a wind swept tree? We have beautiful trees that were shaped by the wind here in Canada. Maybe he can do another on?
as allways very interesting to watch you work 🤗
Great tutorial.
Quite a Malificent-looking tree
Interesting as always, can i trim back a younger squamata , maybe 7 years old?
When I’m watching Peter work, I’ll call out to my daughter in another room, “Uh oh, Peter’s brought out the loppers!” and we’ll laugh and wait to see how it all ends up… ❤️
He even memorized the tree and cuts it later nice
Watching this again you could have done a semi cascade. Lean the tree greatly to the Wright . Just to see what you would get .
Thanks Grandpa... Your grandson is watching your videos

When is the best time to do this work
You can do this anytime but Summer is probably better.
Doesn’t even have to stand back and look before deciding which branches to cut. Wow
Do they air layer well?
All Junipers air layer easily.
