Guys, I think there was an error when explaining the 1Gb/2/3/4/5gb options on Linux. My understanding is that it is the actual split between RAM and VRAM assignation. So with 1Gb 7 went to RAM and 1gb to VRAM. I normally use the 3Gb one which is a nice balance.
I agree maybe not enough being ram assigned to console was causing the issues but then again maybe not. The game itself is running within Linux not "on console" side .so you probably would want the ram for the Linux OS because the games is running within the OS. It depends on where the game is sitting in memory hard to say without having this or studying, I would say it's on OS though if guessing.

You also got to love the community for the long term commitment of some of those projects, and the future benefits. For instance now a Wii costs next to nothing, and is probably the most convenient way to play Gamecube Games (and much more) with good RGB output with the cheap official cable, or HDMI with a cheaper (than GC) adapter. The Xbox One and the Xbox Series consoles remain the only major consoles in history that have yet to be jailbroken, according to MVG, due in no small part to Microsoft allowing homebrew to run on their consoles without the need to jailbreak them, starting with the Xbox One (even the "VCR" version). It's genius to consider social engineering as an important part of security. The more you let people do with their devices without jailbreaking, the less effort will be put into jailbreaking them people! Learn this lesson!
i do hope some people will still try to break it open - even with microsoft's goodwill gesture, we do not know how long they're gonna support the microsoft store for the oldest xbox one for example. but it's still really cool that they allowed it on their platform
@@imtilda Since Microsoft's store for the Xbox 360 is still open 16.5 years later, I think the oldest variant of the Xbox One is safe for a long, long time. Given Microsoft still invests engineering into MS-DOS compatibility in new version of Windows to this day, I think Xbox is quite safe. :)
In the PS3 a thing called "Firmware Spoofer" existed. It was a modification that allowed you to change your version without actually updating the PlayStation and this was really famous because you could play online games and download things from the store without updating. Maybe on the PS4 it also exists?
Reminds me of the old PS2 exploits, especially for the old Fat version with a HDD installed. Loved some of the home brew with Geotron and Mario Wars. Wii also had some decent home brew. I don’t play video games much anymore but I think I had just as much fun exploiting consoles as I ever did playing the games. I even remember coming up with my own codes for the game genie on NES.
Wii Homebrew is pretty sweet and also alive and well. Because all official support from Nintendo has ended you can crack the latest Wii software and never have to repeat it again. I have NES, SNES, Gamecube and Wii Loader all on there. My kids play it a lot which is surprising but I think it is mainly because NES and SNES are more straightforward than modern games. The other nice thing is a used Wii is basically free. When friends of ours found out the kids play video games they handed us their old systems with a box of games and controllers.
Wow I may actually try this hack, I literally haven't turned on my PS4 since early 2020 and it's a base model not pro. It's literally just my Bloodborne machine now since GoW and HZD, and other "exclusives" were ported to PC. Thanks for all the info Anthony you're the G.O.A.T!
You won't be able to install Windows on PS4, it's simply not compatible. A lot of people are mistaken that PS4/5 is just like a PC but the truth is that its hardware is very different, Linux needed many tweaks to simply boot, and many more for supporting its various hardware. Windows is not that flexible since it's not open source, I am not saying that it's impossible, but I doubt we'll see that ever happening.

@@crimsonkarma13 it can run PC games, but that's going to be highly dependent on the game itself, if the game is highly CPU demanding it's not going to run particularly well. I have a PC that's using an Athlon 5350 (pretty much the 4 core version of the CPU in the PS4) with a GT 1030 and 8GB Ram, I ran Elite Dangerous, American truck sim, and even tried out Fortnite (using the performance API), BeamNG Drive, and quite a few older games (300FPS in Half life 2) and they ran pretty decently. But it's also going to depend on how well the game is supported in Linux using proton/Wine because you can run into issues there.
I wanted to come back to this comment to say a bunch of people in the PS4 homebrew scene have made huge advancements in the world of PS4 Linux and the ability to run PS2 games on the software emulator, for example Need for Speed Underground 2 when converted to PS4 Pkg now runs, and not only runs but will run in 4K 60FPS... I can't believe how well some of these older games look on the Ps4 system (I know it's possible to run retroarch within Linux on the Ps4, but the ease of PS4 Pkg's beat this entirely).

I have an original PS4 running 7.50 OS and have a 6TB 2.5" HD installed. I stopped using it on-line a a while back as the on-line games I was playing were just being filled with mod gamers and cheaters (GTA / BF4 etc).
The Linux side I've never really played, and the cheats side I never could get to work properly (constant game crashes).
But I do use it for the softmod jailbreak.
Online cheating on PS4 isn't really a thing. The only "cheat" is unlock alls in gta that have been brought over from ps3
@@dankmemes3447 Online cheating on every platform is absolutely a thing, just less common in some.
@@vhuyjgvyj if you count glitches yes, but actual software hacking like mod menus or aimbots haven't been around on the ps4/xb1 because there never was an exploit that would've allowed it
@Watcher and from where would that ai know where the enemys are if its just emulating a controller?
@Watcher that would technically work, but i doubt that many people would use this. You would need a really good computer to process the graphics card output fast enough for it to work reliably. And at that point you could just play on the computer with better cheats
Edit: capture card output*
LOL from @5:53 up to 6:16 you can actually hear PS4's "jet engine" kick in. 😆
(Not to be toxic with favorites I love allnof the ltt team) but I gotta say, Anthony does like all the retro/mod stuff and that stuff is always my favorite and I get excited watching mainly videos with him mostly in them esp since he speaks so eloquently about information and it's legit helped me do so many of my fav things to do and if I forget a website or how to cut down a retro board im like "ok gotta go back and watch some Anthony". I truly believe he belongs to this small minority of gamers who like really know exactly what hes talking about all the time with exact detail and these random hack/mod websites he legit just knows off hand. Im here for it and he's fucking awesome.
At 6:00 you can hear the PS4 fan just roaring😂😂😂
Honestly Lance McDonald has probably some of the best content around souls games on youtube he never ceases to impress me
genuinely one of my favorite streamers too lol
My god. Running halo on a PlayStation. What a masterpiece
Just because we can, we have to decide if we SHOULD!
PLUS for us Europeans, we have access to higher framerates, or better resolution depending on the version of the game played.
Same for the OG Xbox !
I can't wait to see what's next, particularly with single + Multi games that have so much content online (Forza Horizon 4 ?) that will die when the official servers die.
Anthony was running linux on his ps4 and playing Mario kart using an xbox controller. What a guy
6:15 They do this since DS1 and probably Demons Souls aswell. The DS1 Fix for example made playing DarkSouls Prepare to Die Edition on PC in 60 FPS possible but since fall damaged was tied to how many frames have passed since you last stood on solid ground, you usually got double the amount of fall damage...
Just in the first 10 seconds, anthony plays mario kart with an xbox controller on a ps4, with linux... 10 seconds to portray all sides huh
This is the content I appreciate. Takes me back to when I had a PS3 with an early firmware, but never really played it. Sold it for a bit under retail after a year of barely using it. The fact it wasn't patched was a good thing.
"I'm running Linux on my PS4"
Me: Remember when you could install Linux on PS3.
You can install linux on the PS2
@@lonewolfsstuck but Sony openly endorsed installing Linux on PS3. Only to take it away after launch, which is why they got sued. You can't take away a feature the product was pushed as having after they already bought while its still a new product.
I think I still have my phat ps3 somewhere collecting dust. I ended up jailbreaking it (the JB that broke blu-ray playback initially) and never fixed that issue. I also had the "slim" ps3 up until ps4 came out then ps4 pro and now ps5. Might JB my base ps4 now because of this video.
I enjoyed the disembodied voice in Anthony's head telling him what to do.
@@imtilda Microsoft have started closing down developer accounts used to access homebrew arbitrarily from Feb 2022
They also make money from you buying a dev account
In the PS3 a thing called "Firmware Spoofer" existed. It was a modification that allowed you to change your version without actually updating the PlayStation and this was really famous because you could play online games and download things from the store without updating. Maybe on the PS4 it also exists?
Nope the devs don't want to support online at all because off online modding.
Exact same thing on the PSVita when H-encore and HENkaku became the best option for modding
I could watch Anthony talk about homebrew on consoles forever.
I wish I had this job.
Isn't Japan the land of Ninjas or something? I'd be kind of afraid to do that to Sony since they could send ninjas to do ninja stuff to me.
Lol at the PS4 fan blasting away in the background.
This is awesome, now I just need to really annoy Sony by installing Windows and running a PS1 emulator 🤣
There are PS1, PS2 and I think even PS3 emulators in linux
@@MarcinKralka the CPU and GPU are pretty much PC hardware, it's just that everything else is different.

Remember the original PS3? Yes, the one that allowed Linux OS without any workarounds, directly prompting you to install it straight from the main menu. The one that came with Folding@Home preinstalled, had 4 usb ports on the front to run files or save games from external HDDs, didn't require PSPlus membership monthly fee to play online games, had not only the PS3 CPU but also the actual PS2 Cpu chip to allow full hardware backwards compatibility for all your old PS1 and PS2 games. The last good Playstation console made... RIP!
I don’t remember but it sounds like heaven
My PS4 Pro has been on Linux since 2019, I've been using it to 3D model and 3D print. It runs a good chunk of windows applications I need to edit 3d models, it's not for everyone but for my use case it has been extremely helpful. Remember when consoles struggled to load up their own hacks? now we're using full desktops in just 4 console generations...
does it run games good too?
im considering it since my pc cant run any game
@@madmax2069 Have you tried React OS on the ps4 yet? I wonder if not having to use WINE would make much of a difference
Smartest guy on the channel. Can't believe they kept this guy in the background for so long. You go man!
Shoutout to Lapy, homebrew creator behind the plane game and Many more !

Anthony thank you. You are a god send to the Linux community, showing stuff like this truly shows the power of Linux and what it ACTUALLY brings to the table if people where to actually acknowledge it as a platform. Linux is adaptable and can run on everything!! Halo on PS4 via Proton on Linux. I hope this opens eyes and changes the negative stigma against Linux more towards lets hope Linux succeeds!
Mario Kart on a Playstation running Linux using an Xbox controller. I totally love it.
This is so ballin! I have a PS4 that hasnt been turn on in over a year at least I been waiting for a exploit that would be worthy I think this may be the one. As long as you can play ripped game files for PS4 on it as well as the other emulator's this seem great. Also I think it would be great using Linux it would be nice to run it on the PS4 hard drive though not the USB. Possible an external hard drive for a faster piece of hardware. Anthony you always bring us the best jank there is. Why even have every console known to man when you can have one console do it all. So sick awesome I love hacks.

@@notscar hmm they have it on 9.0 it looks like. Wonder if it's locked to that version or what. Or could you possibly update from fake server. They use to have that for iPhone so you could update or change the firmware to the version that you wanted.
