I really kinda want shanks and his crew to be proficient haki masters while blackbeard and his crew could all be mastering their devil fruits as a way of combating haki.
I just said this in another comment earlier. I feel like at this point shanks is relegated to war with bb as his remaining plot points. Possibly also shanks vs luffy

I can see Shanks Crew being the "Haki" based crew and Blackbeard being the "Devil Fruit" based crew. And the way Luffy surpasses both is by mastering both to their fullest extent.

@Filipe agreed, its a bit dumb, wouldve been a bit better if it was the "resin resin fruit" like some theorized, but Nika/Joyboy used it in the past. That way it would still technically be just rubber. But if it makes it any better, luffy still had to work extremely hard to even be able to use the "Godly" properties of his fruit
@@zerikva I still like Luffy 's fruit. It wasn't a devil fruit in terms of potential but it's a "high max speed, slow acceleration" kind of fruit, perfect for the protagonist's fruit. It's different from say Ace fruit or Enel fruit where you can just obliterate most people in the world without training from the get go. Luffy was very weak when he first ate the fruit, being weaker than Ace and Sabo without fruit. It took he a lot of time training the fruit to even get to the Luffy that we saw in the first chapters.
Luffy was lucky to eat the fruit so early in his life. Others would have eaten that fruit and awakened the fruit, and probably die if they attempted it.
With that said, we have to see how Oda implements the fruit from now on. I have been impatiently waiting to see what happens next time luffy uses his awakened state.

Blackbeard basically is using his devil fruit abilities as a substitute for haki. He can damage people from the inside and damage them without touching them with whitebeards df and he can absorb/defend/nullify against any other df with his logia type darkness fruit(forget the name). I can see blackbeard’s 3rd df giving him a type of advanced observation/future sight haki type of ability which would give him pretty much all of the same abilities that high level haki masters have without any of the training.

My theory is his 3rd df is a Zoan type. It would make sense. Blackbeard already has a Logia and a Paramecia. He wants to make a complete set with a Zoan type

There is a reason his DFs:
1)Allow him to punch things without touching them(GuraGura/Conqueror)
and 2)Nullify DF abilities (YamiYami/Armament)
The only one left is Observation Haki, which begs the question what DF can provide such ability as Future Sight
Blackbeard was confirmed as Armament and Observation Haki user by Databook already.
Allow him to punch things without touching them(GuraGura/Conqueror) -> This has nothing to do with CoC, it stated that the technic is called Ryo and is a form of Armament used by the Wano Samurai.
Later in his fight against Kaido Luffy used CoC on top of Ryo - but there is no connection. Kinemon used this Ryo technic also, but hasn´t CoC

Blackbeard has an observation feat, measuring luffys power level, that only rayliegh is also able to do.
I genuinely think most of this comes from haki not being drawn pre time skip. It makes it easy to say that since the story didn't show us the same way it does now who has strong haki, that means older characters just don't have haki or they're bad at it. If there were no black hands and lightning it'd be a lot harder to falsely compare pre and post time skip.
For all we known blackbeard could have already used conqueres coating at marine Ford. All it will take is one line from luffy, just like all the other feats luffy figured out where actually just people using haki.
@@GamingUproar no its not dude. Rayliegh does it to the elephant in luffys training and explains that it's the final form of color of arms. Luffy even comments on it during his fight against queen with hygoro. Luffy could hit targets, like tree right before the raid or the stone walls at udon without touching them. He learns coc in his second kaido engagement.
Been saying for awhile that his obsession w devil fruit power could result in him having subpar haki in comparison. The guy has two of the most dangerous fruits for their type at the same time, which is unheard of, and he’ll most likely have TWO awakenings. Hell many believe a third fruit is coming, ultimate devil fruit user is born. It’s probably going to take Luffy relying solely on his haki to win, since Kaido says haki trumps all.
Kaido didn’t say that haki is superior or that it beats DF 10/10 times. What he said was that having a devil fruit isn’t the be all end all, and that someone with strong haki can be a powerhouse on the seas, just like Roger.

Haki techniques don't trump all, I have seen armament & observation get beat by df powers alot. Queen said his dinosaur snake hold has crushed the bones of dozens of armament haki masters cuz their haki couldn't withstand the force & pressure. Even Luffy was still hurt by Hody Jones when he bit thru his armament haki 🤷♂️. You can't use Roger as the standard for haki technique users he's literally in the 1% & only became PK cuz he begged Whitebeard for Oden. Whitebeard could of said no and Roger wouldn't be PK

Precisely. Blackbeard likes to take the easy way. Waited for the WB pirates to find the fruit and backstabbed his commander for it, challenged Ace only because he knew his devil fruit was OP, waited for WB to be weakened and still had his crew help him out.

To all people,that was not conqueror haki shown in ep 1093. That was normal haki which law was also releasing. Conqueror haki has black and red colour while normal haki is just red colour.
In manga,none of them were releasing any type of haki. In manga, Blackbeard conqueror haki is not revealed yet. So all of that was anime only thing.

I genuinely think that Conquerors Haki isn’t a thing that has to be granted through luck. I believe it’s something you unlock simply by having a strong enough will. A will very few people have.

Pretty much, there’s a mental block that most of the things in the OP world has that prevents them from accessing it and Zoro was having issues due to that.

I think it's genetic but it's almost random if you are born with it, it being more likely you have it if you are the child of a king haki user. Then you need to have the correct personality type to unluck it.
After the way Big Mom was defeated with no conquerors haki, its clear that if you have very strong and op devil fruits you can be part of some of the strongest in the verse. However to be the absolute cream of the crop, you need to master all 3 types of haki. This is the way Luffy will defeat Blackbeard. You are spot on Morj.

The fight Luffy vs Blackbeard ends with Luffys Devilfruit powers getting cancelled out COMPLETELY, making this Luffys first fight without any rubber abilities, and knocking out Blackbeard barehanded.

Basically being a Conqueror is someone who has an unwavering spirit to the point even if they know they are out matched they'd rather go out swinging than to run away having the drive, will and spirit to never back down it's either you succeed or die trying thats a solid idea
How do you explain luffy at sabaody? I remember a shout of can't win run. He uses conqueres littetally 5 days after that incident.
How do you explain litterally seen one of the manga where shanks tells luffy to back down from a fight?
What about kaidos suicidal nature? He litterally would rather die than keep going. That's litterally the opposite of unwavering.
How about doffy v kaido? Doffy backed down awfully quick from that fight but he still had conqueres.
Why not just accept rays explanation that no, never baking down is not how conqueres works? It's a rare manifestation of someone's will and desires. That's why luffy and shanks can use it to save their friends and backing down doesn't mean they don't have it. That's how kaido can have conflicting desires and still have it.
@@lukeseguin1875 I think it's not about not backing down from ANY fights but it's the undying will to fight for your goal. Much like how Luffy's goal is to become a pirate king no matter what, or Zoro's goal of becoming the strongest swordsman.

Zoro with mihaw and nothing happened, luffy to save his crew from kuma and to save his brother . So did shanks and Oden. Shanks is currently sitting around doing jack squat intentionally. How does that or kaidos suicide attempts fit anywhere into this theory.
Believe the plain text of the story, rayliegh explained how it works. It's not about not backing down or even having ambitions. Wapol should have conqueres if it works how you are saying it does .It's an inherent power that is a manifestation of will.

Ok with Doffy he was a kid when he awakened his C.H because even though he was about to be killed by people socially beneath him, he didn't waver he didn't back down, yh he worked under Kaido but that's a buisness or partnership, look at Zoro and Luffy they both are conquerors but Zoro decided to work under him
Shanks taught Luffy the ability to discern which people are worth fighting and which ones are not, Luffy could've easily beaten Bellamy just like how shanks could have easily beaten the bandits but at first they thought it wasn't worth it,
With Luffy running away it was a lesson in humility keep in mind he didn't fully awaken his conquerors until marineford u could make the argument that all of pre time skip was building up Luffy as a captain and like with anything in the world you got to take the good and the bad sometimes you got to pick uf fights and other times u got to run

So I was recently rewatching marineford, (gf is on her first watch through) and I noticed when Blackbeard tilted the sea they also emphasized that he split the sky as well. But I went and doubled checked in the manga and the sky is never shown splitting nor is it mentioned like the anime.
It’s kind of odd to me because he was fighting Sengoku and as we now know he also has Conquers Haki as well. I thought that was a cool way to subtlety show that they both have it and we’re clashing, but I guess that’s not the case.
I honestly doubt that Blackbeard won’t have conquers lol

Beckmen with 3-4 being interchangeable especially since they are end series potential villains I doubt they would have weaker conquers than Any second commander (other than whitebeard while he was on rocks crew) but both have broken devil fruits so I doubt they are gonna have conquers as strong as mihawk , and definitely not garp , they may be better at other aspects of haki though I expect Blackbeard in particular to have broken future sight

Glad someone said this I always thought it would make sense for him not to have it. Given Him being powerful in so many other ways and as a way to separate him from Luffy. While also helping to explain why the Yami Yami was so critical for him to get if he’s not a haki master

@@katakurifan5213 You aren’t wrong, but none of that conveys conquerors haki, just reasonable to good armament/observation haki use in general. Plenty of people are commanders and don’t Have HotSK. It is obviously possible he has HotSK but I just think it’s more interesting if he doesn’t. Cause he runs away so much and is so sneaky and as a way to really separate him from Luffy thematically.
We also don’t know Shank’s haki situation/ development when they fought, or then we could use it better to assume what types of haki he has.

There were some situations were Luffy also retreated instead of fighting.
Smoker multiple times, Kizaru on Sabaody, Magellan in Impel Down and Big Mom in Whole Cake Island come to mind instantly, so retreating from a stronger opponent is not an instant no-go when it comes to having conqueror's haki.
The reason I agree that Blackbeard probably will not be able to use conqueror's haki is that Rayleigh explained haki blooms in the kind of situations that Blackbeard consistently avoids. Blackbeard only picks the fights he is sure that he will win. Ace was probably a slip up since Blackbeard did not know that Ace cared about Luffy who was his target to become a warlord.
Morj already addressed the Kizaru point and you're ignoring context for the rest. For example with magellan, luffy was running because his goal was to save ace. He had bigger priorities than fighting Magellan. Luffy didn't fear Magellan.
It's not about running away, it's about the characters personality in dangerous situations. Luffy does not back away from a challenge, this doesn't mean he fights everyone in every situation

First thing we see rayliegh do, get himself enslaved with zero plans to fight.
Conqueres, as rayliegh explained very clearly, is not linked to a set of actions a character takes. It is an inherent part of their will and no amount of training can get it. If it worked any bit the way morj is saying it does people could absolutely train to have it.
Like the raid failing this theory requires the reader to skip huge swaths of the plain text of the story and assume explained things are contradictory.

I think the focused emphasis of BlackBeard's crew hunting devil fruits is the best indicator of this. As well as BB's own desire to steal Whitebeard's fruit. BB has definitely seen Advanced Conquerors from the best of the best, so knowing he will never have that capability, chose to maximize devil fruits instead
Considering one in a million have conquerers haki which is quite rare it’s probably a good idea in general to hunt devil fruits and I’m surprised other pirate crews weren’t doing this as much. Him hunting devil fruits doesn’t indicate that he doesn’t have conquerers because although a Yonko is strong you need a strong crew. Let’s not forget kaido was on something similar collecting zoan devil fruit users and trying to artificially create devil fruits to feed to people to strengthen his army

This video just introduced a new exciting idea in my head, that of Blackbeard cancelling Luffy's fruit in their final fight and "forcing" him to fight as the last Pirate King fought, no fruit, just Haki, and thus solidifying his place as his true successor.
I used to subscribe to this idea until we saw conqueror’s haki coating. Cause even though Blackbeard cheats he’s probably the most ideal version of a conqueror after Kaido and Doflamingo

not sure if I agree with the “never backing down” aspect of conqueror’s. Like it’s there to an extent but it’s not always the case. Luffy has run away from both Smoker and Kizaru pre-timeskip. He also spent a good portion of whole cake running away from Big Mom during her hunger pang attacks. Also Doffy pretty much wanted nothing to do with Kaido
I feel like it’s more a mix of the unwavering will along with the caring about your friends that plays into conqueror’s, but even that’s not super consistent cause Big Mom is out here killing her children

Luffy ran from big mom because his goal wasn’t to fight her, it was to bring back sanji.
You misunderstood the point being made, the key trait of a coc user is ambition, and the unrestrained will to pursue it despite the odds. Meaning that any obstacle that blocks their path towards their goal, they'll keep fighting persistently until they succeed, that is the main point.
We see this from Luffy throughout his journey through the grandline. Despite that being the case, that doesnt mean they can't be sensible and logical. Like the Kizaru incident, Luffy and co finished fighting a pacifista, Luffy had experience fighting an admiral and knew it was suicidal especial if his crew were there, Luffy is still a captain at the end of the day, and any captain is responsible for the crew. The same applies to Big Mum.
Doffy fighting Kaido wouldnt benefit him so why should he have a 'never back down mentality' infact, the reason Doffy feared Kaido because he new that Kaido, with his unreasonable personality he could be a threat to Doffys establishment, therefore he'd rather not go that route. When DOffy trapped fujitora in the birdcage, he easily accepted having to fight the admiral, knowing it would be hard.
Caring for friends has nothing to do with coc, its only ambition, and the things that fall under it. Luffy in pursuing his goal knows he needs his crew who are down to join his cause, plus he cherishes his friends more than anything, therefore he is willing to protect them, that falls under Luffy's conviction, its not a coc thing.

In the instances that law wanted to retreat, he wasn't giving up on his goal, he just wanted to regroup and find a tactical path past his obstacle as opposed to brute force.
And how is suicide ambitious? Zoro's ambition would have ended then and there if mihawk had chosen to kill him while if he'd lived, he could have continued chasing his dream. He straight up accepted the end of his goal in that moment when he didn't have to. How is that more ambitious than someone who would have been willing to escape mihawk and lived to fight another day but continued chasing their goal?
@@valuedcontributer7690 , as Luffy and Zoro both pointed out many many times in the series their dreams and ambitions matter more than anything in the world, and if they die on their paths before completing their ambitions then their ambitions means nothing if they can’t even live to accomplish those tasks, so yes having the heart of a Conquer isn’t determined by genetics because Zoro is related to no one special at all, and he has Conquers Haki because of his strong will alone because he beat Kaku the second strongest CP9 Agent with Awakened Conquers Haki Coating in Enies Lobby, and he only learned how to do that by almost dying to Mihawk, and Law’s and Sanji’s ways of fighting along with Black Beard’s ways of fighting aren’t the ways a Conquer would fight, but more of the line of a strategic general that looks a battlefield like with maps, charts, data, and figurines on a battlefield in which positions they should be placed onto the proper positions unlike true Conquers like Luffy and Zoro.
I don't agree with the 'caring about your friends' bit, I think Mihawk has to have Conqueror's Haki, but he has no friends
I'm starting to believe this more because of the one scene in Impel Down where BB drags in Luffy to smash him into the ground no Haki needed. Maybe he doesnt need it because of the Fruit he has.
The problem is.. BB cant do much damage to the ones without DF.. his Darkness Ability wont be much of a threat thou since it cant nullify Haki

The theory olds up. the only thing that's left out is the direct parallel between black beard and rock's crews.
Rock had a problem in having too many conquerors users in his crew, and supposedly he had it too. If black beard doesn't have an inch on conqueror, why his crew would follow him? Taking as granted that some of them have conqueror for sure (aka shiriu).
Oda likes to trace these tween paths between Roger's timeline and the current one. A way to connect them could be that rock would consider black beard weak, a disappointment for taking shortcuts. Maybe teach motives are to be found in his past with rock. unwonted child, with a loser father that in is view lost because he played "fair" and took out his frustration on his son.
yeah but Roger had no Devil Fruit, when it makes sense for him to thematically have the Nika Nika Fruit, but he doesn't, Luffy and Roger aren't direct copies of each other. similarly, Teach doesn't need to be a copy of socks in everything. he is a man with similar aspirations to Rocks, but that doesn't mean he has to be as great as Rocks. for example, there's a clear difference between Teach's crew and Rock's crew. Shiryu, Devon, Pizarro and the others seem strong, but are they Whitebeard, Big Mom and Kaido? are they conquerors themselves?
we have the parallel of D. vs D. already and similar goals possibly, it doesn't need to come down to the same abilities and mastery over Haki too, I think that's what makes Rocks and Teach different

One way to look at it aswell is like this:
Rocks pirates had too many conquerors, thus a lot of heads butting constantly and in fighting.
While the Blackbeard pirates have too many Devil Fruit users, so if one falls in water, who saves them? They're all weak to kairoseki weapons aswell and in some cases Haki which can counteract some DF abilities, like Law being unable to do some attacks on BM and Kaidou due to their Haki.
Since most have OP DF it's fair to say that most will have a weak reliance on Haki or barely having to use it if not on their weapon like Shiriu a clear exception since he was a marine/prison guard in a high position.
This will result in the situation that Luffy found himself in vs Katakuri, where they both used armament Haki, but Kata was stronger so Luffy fist was hurt by it in result, kinda how in base form Luffy Haki is just black blue ish, in gear 4 or some attacks with ryuo or red roc it has a red tint, which Katakuri always had.
So if they all have basic black Haki, those with stronger ones or red tinted ones will win out.

So the idea that Black beard is doin it the easy way, gatherin multiple fruits, without training becaouse he has the exemple of rocks losing, who we presume trained to be a strong aki user, fits just right with everything else said in the video.

I believe Devil fruits will get a "buff" once we understand how and why they work. So haki will stay useful but maybe certain lineage factors give you an affinity for a fruit or fruit type, with Blackbeard being the paramount fruit user. If not that BB knowledge of fruits could give him a deadly edge. I think we'll have our fill of conquerors coating by the time we're done with God King Shanksu 🔥

But Luffy started displaying Conquerors at the start the Saobody Archipelago Arc when he made Motobaro faint.
By the end of that same arc, he admitted that him nor his crew were strong enough to beat Pacifistas+Admiral Kizaru+Sentomaru+Shichibukai Kuma and told his entire crew to *RUN*.

Are you sure? When Shanks came to Whitebeard's ship to warn him of Blackbeard, he was really not hearing it and doing it his own way attacking Shanks to test himself right away. I think Whitebeard does fit the mold Mr Morj is talking about. On the other hand I do agree with you that I think that Oda is more flexible with the power than Morj thinks... Oh I totally agree with you. I’m not trying to say whitebeard wasn’t headstrong at all. The example you mentioned is a perfect example of him not backing down when it matters. I’m just saying that whitebeard is much more similar to law than to luffy in a competition of “world’s most headstrong man”.
Much like law, whitebeard would put his life on the line for his beliefs but only after considering his options first. We saw this pre time skip when he dissuaded ace from going after teach even though teach had broken the ironclad rule of his ship and killed a crew mate. We also saw this post time skip when he dissuaded ace from going after kaido in the flashback. I can’t imagine very headstrong characters like luffy Kidd or big mom making the same choices that he did in those situations but I could see folks like law or sanji making the same choices.
Right now whitebeard seems to be the exception to the “must be headstrong” rule but fanmade rules can easily be broken and made obsolete by oda. We saw this happen before with the fanmade rule that “you must be a captain to have conqueror’s haki”. At first Raleigh was the only exception. Then katakuri, zoro, oden and even whitebeard himself were revealed to have been subordinates at one time or another with conqueror’s

I saw a video earlier today saying that Blackbeard will definitely have conqueror haki. I fully agree with that video it only makes sense from a narrative standpoint than Blackbeard will have a conqueror haki. But you're allowed to believe whatever Mr. "The Raid will fail".
Blackbeard haters were also saying Blackbeard had no Haki, then Databook debunked them by confirming Blackbeard as armament and observation Haki user.

For the fact that Luffy didn't had armament or observation haki, the only thing he could meant was conquers haki, for the fact that you are able to use it unconsciously. But Luffy never used conquers haki, so the only explanation for this is, that Blackbeard has such a strong conquers haki and such a great knowledge about conquers, that he is able to sense conquersuser even if they arent even haki user yet
Chapter 544 - Blackbeard says: "You're stronger than I thought... your haki is stronger than before, too", right after Luffy punched him in Impel down. For the fact that Luffy used conquers unconsciously in Amazon Lily, the only explanation is that he sensed the increase of Luffys conquers haki.
there's still the issue with this that Blackbeard fought Shanks before having any devilfruit, and was capable of giving him the scars over his eyes. and like shanks said, he wasn't being careless, so it was a proper confrontation and not a sneak attack. considering that shanks is all about haki, I feel this would have been kinda hard for blackbeard to do without a proper use of haki himself

Having the ambition that Blackbeard has I would be surprised if he doesn't have conquerors haki. Also considering he scarred Shanks with a weapon that was non DF related, I would assume that he would need too tier haki to do so.

All we know is that it was between when he Shanks was a kid on Roger's ship and when he visited Luffy in Windmill village. And considering Shanks already knew how to control Conquerors, I would think it's safe to assume he had pretty damn good haki.

We also don't k ow his strength at any of those points, but to say that he got the scars when he was a teenager is something that you made up. Before watching, I'm gonna say that it's pretty hard for me to believe Blackbeard doesn't have conquerors. In my eyes, if you're a person that attracts a lot of followers you're an eligible candidate. Blackbeard is by definition a person that's attracted a lot of followers. Conqueror's is a mindset not how many followers you have. If it was about followers all the WG member nation's leaders would have it. Look at Zoro and Rayleigh, neither had followers but they have conquerors because of their own personalities.

The point you made about Shanks works for Oden too when he did what Orochi told him instead of fighting him and Kaido right then and there. A lot of innocent lives would be at risk so he choose to "back down", but when he realised it wasn't gonna go the way he wanted, he brought the fight to Kaido and refused to back down.
I've felt this way for a long time. Blackbeard is always portrayed as "missing something" to be Pirate King. The Vivre cards not listing him as a CoC user is also evidence.

I'm still not sure of how one gets conquerors. It's about strength of will but strengthening your will doesn't give it to yourself and it's apparently not genetic which doesn't make sense if you can't train it and it's random but usually those with it are related to other conquerors.
You are born with it and it comes out in a moment of extreme stress or critial moments. Like ace when he was a child or luffy in amazon lily and marinford
I think all creatures could potentially unlock it, it just takes a certain kind of mindset to always be a leader and be in charge and well have the strength and training to back it up, that’s when it manifests. Hierarchical organizations like the Marines kind of lead to it being dulled and not manifesting in people unless they are higher ups and even then it seems pretty rare, because you are likely deferring to an authority and leadership of someone else in that scenario.
Just look at the people who have it. They personality is pretty much a kings ambition. They want to protect everyone they are close too, want to be the strongest, want to be the best. Doffy really hated everyone, Katakuri wanted to protect his family, Zoro and Luffy really want to achieve there titles.
If it were a hereditary trait Oda would favor very strict bloodline monarchies which he showed are susceptible to corruption by unfit rulers.
It's a mix of the right person going through the meaningful ordeals and making the proper connections for it to really bloom. Who knows whether he'll spell it out directly for us but that's what the story suggests so far.

Oda explicitly said you can't gain it if you don't have it already. If that's not genetic I don't know what is genetic.
