I relate to this a lot as an INTJ female. I really struggle to relate to others. I hate expressing myself because most people associate me with sexism and ultra trad stuff even though I’m not. Just because I support a traditional lifestyle doesn’t mean I am sexist or I hate women. Also I’ve been eating lots of meat and it’s fully transformed my health for the better! People love to make a big deal about my diet and my lifestyle… I ended up creating a discord channel for INTJ’s and got a ton of members through reddit! We have members across the world now and it’s fascinating how despite cultural differences we all get along so well! I find I can be myself more on there since everyone is really chill and like minded! I can share the link! Also I relate to the book comments. Romance books are great but the male characters get so soft halfway through. The female mc always becomes very tough and masculine. Without that “character arch” authors will get labeled as sexist! You put the nail on the head when you said you felt afraid to speak up. Multiply that by thousands and you have our population. Most people are more normal than not but due to media influence most people are afraid to be honest. A lot of people just accept it and live the lie long enough to believe it.
I relate to it soo much, im an 23 y.o. female artist myself and now im on vacation - im clubbing every day and peoples reaction that im against hookup culture, dont have insta, and dont drink alcohol because im on meds currently is insane, like they cant believe you can have fun without all that stuff.....
I totally relate. I'm a single 27yo INJT female. I love art, I draw a lot and planning on making a career using art. I've always found it fulfilling to have something going on for me that can also bring me enough money. I'm also a somewhat traditional woman, religious and don't believe in the hook up culture. I believe in marriage and gender rules (as in a man provides and protects while I take care of the house.) I said "somewhat traditional" because I never wanted kids, I've known since a very young age that motherhood is not the life style I want. I also don't try to convince people to be like me, I don't mind the differences. So it's not that I believe people shouldn't have kids, on the contrary, I advocate for procreation for those who decide to have kids and take responsibility for it. However people seem to think of me in a certain way when they hear about my childfree decision and my desire to have a career. But whenever I say I'm traditional they immediately change the way they see me and start arguing as if I can't be all that at the same time. They expect me to be an (either or) person. I always pay extra attention to what I tell people because usually I get attacked verbally for being "a dual person" as they say. If there's a community for us who aspire to be both, I'd love to be part of it.
I understand you, i am also a walking paradox (not like you though). "Do not try to blend in. You were always meant to stand out, and be the best. May you always prosper, and may you always forge ahead with hyper focused confidence. Amen." INTJ Male here in my late 20s.
Omg I can't believe this, I was just talking about this with my mom yesterday and now today I came across this video! I completely understand you, Lydia. I am also an artist (an illustrator to be more precise) and I love alt-rock music and I've always cared a lot about the environment and tried my best to be sustainabe and I have some "modern" beliefs, but I also am old-fashioned, traditional and religious in some senses. I don't drink or smoke, I don't believe in hookup culture, and I believe in some gender roles. I also tried being vegetarian for a few years, but it didn't work for me either. I had gotten to a point where I felt very small and like I always had to take less and less space to be "sustainable". According to these groups, not existing at all probably would be way more sustainable. Not eating, not going outside, not using anything, not doing anything, these all would be "sustainable", but at what price, you know. It just doesn't make sense. So now I do eat meat, but in moderation and I try not to waste food and be sustainable in general but take care of myself as well, not just the environment. Thank you for making this video Lydia! It feels nice to know I'm not the only one and that there are other people like me out there. Maybe we could make a Discord group or something and all become friends :)
this was really interesting, thank you. i totally agree that things got way worse after covid- i think a lot of people (not just gen z) were getting their identity from the internet and lost their connection to themselves and to g-d. im surprised to hear you’re 25- that may be part of the problem. maybe you can find some fun older friends that are more on your level.
I"m more than twice you age, but can so relate to this. I've always been a misfit amongst misfits, even! I don't fit neatly into any boxes all my life, and now more than ever. I agree so much about what you state at the end about social programming and extreme othering and closed minded thinking! Also, yes the uniforms of the sides! It's truly freaky and disturbing! I haven't read any fiction, but I see that in films and television for sure! Kudos to you for bravely posting this video :)
Lydia, I am so similar to you. Artistic, creative, religious, somewhat "conservative" by the standards these days. I wish we could be friends. 😆What if we had some sort of online discussion group... even as an INTJ I think I would enjoy more socialization with like minded people. Perhaps the only way to met people these days is a more targeted approach and maybe that's okay if it starts online. Also, congratulations for getting out of the vegan cult (I truly believe they have the characteristics of a cult). The conflation of all these issues you spoke about (climate, veganism, gender) is nonsensical and also indicative of cult like mentality. People in these woke groups know nothing about actual agriculture; it's just a lie that meat eating is bad for the environment. We need cattle to make the whole agricultural system work. These people said "is it sustainable to have children?" 😆They are not living in reality. We need like minded "pragmatists" like us to find each other and form a more united front against this nonsense.
Congrats on making this video! I feel you, I may not have the exact same views as you on being religious etc, but I also myself have cherry-picked and have diverse opinions. Nowadays, everything is too political, the series that we watch, even at work and I just feel like it can be intimidating walking on eggshells even if you have nothing negative to share, almost like waiting for a bomb to explode and your words being twisted. Now in my 30s I could catch myself thinking that I would be judged for having kids since the majority of girlfriends around me think it's not a cool thing. I want to read this book that touches on the subject written by Africa Brooke called - The Third Perspective: Brave Expression in the Age of Intolerance. In conclusion, I think it can be overwhelming and hard to live in this current state of the world as a sensitive, empathetic person who does not do good with judgment. But I'm glad other people out there feel this way.
same here, girl - i totally get you, every-word-you-say... it always appeared to me as us being a very "grey" people (being somewhere in between), which is difficult when the dark and light sides are so intense and you sometimes feel like being torn into two sides or being overlooked at the same time... The understanding we have and many lack is a blessing and a curse. I also find this bias in INTJs xd, especially women (i am also an INTJ girl, and struggle a lot with what you convey in this video) - i am sending a lot of comfort to you, be blessed Lyd
We can be this AND that. We can like this AND that. We can understand you AND have our own set of values. We can be left-brained AND right-brained. We can wear black AND like to buy a bouquet of colourful flowers to uplift our home. We can be modernist AND hold traditional values. Life is about nuances, and we are nuanced. I might not eat meat, fish and eggs AND still be friends with people who do eat these. I've been like this my entire existence here, and it isn't easy for us to find people who can mesh with us, but I've slowly tried to find those who do. It would be interesting to have a sort of Meetup where we can occasionally come together with those who we can gel with, and whenever we travel around, simply check in on who is available for a milkshake/hot choc/tea/coffee/bubble tea/water/whatever-beverage-floats your boat... thank you for voicing your thoughts. We are a handful, but we do exist :-)
There are lots of people these days who act like they are fair to everybody but if you differ from everyone that these days are so similar they attack you. I had recently one case at the media workshop i'm in atm where i did my own art project, music video and one guy got so pissed off by me saying no to do a short ad of the video couse i don't want to cut a little piece out from it, i wanted to keep the whole piece and just make a photo post ad about it with a youtube link. Philosophy being If you give people little piece they won't bother checking the whole cake couse they expect you to come and feed them again. I was faced with some NPC behaviour. He was pushing me to do it like he thinks is the norm, he said "why doesn't it do for you?" with really annoyed voice. I replied "couse i'm an artist" he replied even more annoyed "so is everyone!" Like he was trying to socialice my personal art expression! Wtf. Then when i wrote this whole thing in a WA group i got kicked out of there by him and telling he will fire me. There's gonna be a meeting next time and i'm going to say how it is. He think's i'm in the wrong by not accepting he's bad behavior towards me and my art. I can't understand these people. What is the thing they get out from this? I'm an ENTJ i think i read somewhere that most of the people use extroverted feeling. I have introverted feeling so i'm not trying to please people's feelings i'm just trying to make stuff done (Extroverted thinking) so i clash with the everyday lazy people couse i offend them by being my self. Extroverted feeling is so annoying for me couse people are saying i need to respect some bullshit rules based on nothing really. I find myself saying "here's the way it can be done" and explain it all and people say it works but we can't do it couse would hurt the feelings of some sensetive idiot higher in the social hierarchy.

I completely understand you, because I sort of come from a slightly same background as you. Traditional, religious middle eastern mindset who looked with an open mind to the western culture, cherry picked the things that amuses her with also keeping her values in mind. And now she doesn't belong to either sides😂💔👍🏻 I have so much fun in my unique way of thinking and liking things, but I get you, it's very frustrating and it gets really lonely, thank God I have friends that are a little bit like me. You being traditional doesn't make sense to people who have very primitive, undeveloped ways of thinking about people and the world based on superficial stereotypes, assumptions, and/or availability bias. Anyone could potentially be capable of doing or being Anything. That is the reality. They just haven't given it much thought. You don't know people until you get to know them personally. The more people you meet in life, the more primitive assumptions you will lose about people in general and their stereotypes, and the more robust assumptions you will at some point gain. People tend to self-segregate and so you become their black swan, because birds of a feather flock together. More developed people and minds tend to be misunderstood by less-developed people and minds.
Same. But I unsubscribed you cause I were refining my yt subscriptions to be more energetic and loud to have more energetic surroundings hm. And then this video - it is basically my thoughts mostly
I’m an ENTP guy who’s 23 also living in England, I live in London. Most of the people I talk to on a daily basis and grew up with are extremely woke. I like to go to art gallery’s, museums, used to go to music festivals, but my main passion is engineering, luckily a very apolitical field. When I was in University it was even more extreme 😂. You could always tell the traditionalists by their lack of talking about politics and their supposed “apolitical” views. There were plenty of people there who agree with your views, they stay silent, seek them out. The people I tend to vibe with happen to be left wing but I disagree with their views and think their hugely misguided. Political topics come up in almost every situation now in 2024, but I have a general idea of when to comment or not comment. Pick your battles, but don’t always say nothing, it’s important for your sense of self to offer push back or nuance. Present this as if your on their side but just want to present an alternative view. Like a devils advocate. One of my important goals in life is to have a big family, I disagree with victim culture. People at first glance of my personality probably couldn’t guess this, but as I’m an ENTP I can’t not comment for long, especially if we’re friends. I tend to do it in a comedic and tactful way to avoid offense and to keep it lighthearted, like a court jester making light jabs at the king. It’s really great to hear someone else talk about their experience, I feel very alone and have only met few people who share my views. Happy to hear your married, that’s amazing news, sorry for the long comment. Unfortunately, human being are like this, they consider themselves tolerant but ostracize people who even slightly disagree. My advice to you is to find people who are willing to be tolerant, eventually explain your “a bit more” traditional and explain you want to talk about politics as little as possible, or just avoid the topic as it’s “depressing”. As an intj I assume, this seems like the best strategy. Send me your email if you feel like chatting. 👍
Thanks for this comment! I am having the same experience in your country... I definitely know when to choose and pick my battles and these days I'm usually quite about most things bc it's just not worth it. However, being silent all the time also takes a toll...
Hello Lydia. I just turned 24 and I've been listening to you for a while now. I have never commented on a UA-cam channel before but this video made me. I just could not NOT comment and reach out to you. I am an INTJ just like you and by listening to you, I feel understood. It feels like you know. Just...you know. What I'm thinking and what I want to say out loud but I have no one to share it with simply because they won't understand. You know it don't you? Its not like you haven't tried. Its just, you have tried enough to know where your ideas will fit and where they won't. If you're trying to make a group or even if you're interested in talking to people individually, please get back if possible. I'd love to have a friend right now. Especially one who feels and understands things the same way as I do. A lot of love 🤍
Good to see so many people feel the same ENTP living in the UK 23 years old. I think most people just keep silent that’s why nobody finds people who feel the same way, there are people out there.
i love how there is a climate change link under my video now without my consent lol.
