I just spent 2 hrs typing out a one of the most heart-felt, sincere, and hope-filled messages I've ever attempted. I went to the restroom and was only AFK for maybe 5 min. It was gone, as if it had never been written or considered. I could never hope or even come close to duplicating those words as the whole message was co-authored with the holy spirit. I prayed for the guidance and inspiration of the Holy Ghost. And together we crafted something I found truly inspired and beautiful and it conveyed my excitement and respect in a manor I would've flubbed up on my own. I guess it was full of potential to build bridges, and uplift each other despite our differences, I wonder if charity, hope, and compassion smell like rotting garbage to Lucy the more potent the love the stronger it smells and offends his sensitivities. What the reality is as far as what happened to the original, heaven knows. I choose to believe that my attempt and more importantly the manner in which I sought to increase love, hope, knowledge, and compassion in the world by engaging in respectful and uplifting dialogue was pleasing to the Lord and therefore Lucy had to act.
The Holy Spirit had nothing to do with whatever unbiblical nonsense you wrote. Lucy? Is this a reference to Lucifer? Lucifer is Jesus, anyone who does not understand this understands nothing. You are completely deceived, repent!
Thanks for posting this! I had asked about it being on here. I didn't see notification, oddly. I will start listsning. As a convert to church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (of 6 yrs), I'll see how this is compared to my experience. I used to be of Pentacostal denomination and Am half Jewish too, so have a broader view from those who grew up in LDS Church. I listen to you (I think of you as one of my Sunday school teachers), LDS Church, mainstream Christians, Jews and Jews for Jesus. So I have broad prospective.
I'm starting to listen. You are correct about importance of family and missionary efforts. It's no joke and absolutely true. I lived with an LDS family for a few months and they are such a beautiful loving family. I miss them a lot. The missionaries pay their own way to go away for 1.5 to 2 years to go to another place around the world and share the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and help others in humanitarian efforts too. The LDS church is open and goes out to help people of other faiths and pray for them too. Like when Jews or Muslims have their synagogues or mosques attacked. Also humanitarian efforts in general are important. Showing the love of Jesus Christ is so important. It's saved through faith in Christ work. Our work shows our faith, as it's written in the new testament. The stones to find something when young I've heard mentioned. The first vision at about 14 or 15 is correct. (You are respectful and even handed, as you said you would be at the start). The word of wisdom is name of healthy living, no drinking drugs alcohol coffee or tea (other than herbal). Eat a lot of fruits veggies and grain, meat to be eaten sparingly. Correct on doctrines and covenants. I heard about the persecution of the church leaders and members. Polygamy was part at start then stopped. Polygamy is a little confusing to people who aren't members. There is sealing in the temple, which is being married for time and eternity. Some people at the start were sealed/married for eternity only so didn't have any physical marriage relationship.
Bruce, thank you for reviewing some of this, you may be interested in Hannah Stoddard and the Joseph Smith Foundation. She covers all the positive and negative aspects. Obviously we are accustomed to criticism, and generally speaking we see taking “offense” as a choice. Something Joseph Smith stated was prompted by a woman who came to him in tears, explaining that she is hearing awful and inaccurate rumors about herself. Joseph expressed empathy for her situation, and explained that when he hears a rumor about himself (which he often did) he looks at how or why that came about and recognizes that there is something he said or did which was a kernel or foundation of the rumor. He said that as he realizes this, there wells within him a love and desire to forgive that person. Obviously there is no biblical or religious historical character without criticism. Even Christ was crucified by his own and there are a many things which biblical and historical figures did not understand perfectly or carry out as designed, but results came from the dedication, desire and understanding, which we retrospectively understand much better today. Truman G. Madsen was also a very thorough investigator of the life of Joseph Smith, he would also be a good source to learn from. Thank you
Puh... I am very relieved. For a second I thought you are Mormon. I would have lost you 10 minutes after I found you. Looking forward to all your videos. You being Mormon would have made that hard 😅
Also, check out the channel Saints Unscripted in the areas you spoke about. All these “issues” presented actually does have scriptural precedent, and follows a manner and pattern of revelation received by previous prophets and apostles. But there are many sources and explanations available that contextually explain what we would see as odd. As for the Book of Mormon, we would expect that a manufactured narrative would be disproven over time, however it has been the opposite. Something worth considering. Also note the accounts being given, if they are 1st, 2nd, or further accounts and whether there was biased motive. For example, do we take the account of those who murdered Joseph as being honest history? And the fruits which have come from the church being restored, how it has taught the doctrine of Christ worldwide. Bruce Porter also describes much of these ancient traditions and explanations. Thank you.
My view is that Joseph Smith had been commanded to write the book of mormon and a very serious charge was laid upon him on penalty of death to finish this work and do nothing else. He was commanded to teach nothing else but faith and repentance. Somehow he was not able to adhere to this charge and the resulting ship wreck is an example and testimony and witness to the consequences of disobeying this command. As a result the mormon church went toward paganism. Thats what this polygamy thing is. Its paganism. Nonetheless the book of mormon still remains in all its glory and a person can be saved by reading it because it is all about faith and repentance and what this actually means
I agree that if the book of mormon is the fullness of the gospel, and the most correct book of any on earth, than the pearl of great price and d&c should never have been accepted or taught as theology. The God described in the bom is a modulist view of God, and the d&c i.e. the modern lds view, is radically different. None of their core doctrine is even in the bom. Not one. No eternal law of progression, heavenly marriage, no god being an exalted man, and we can become gods, or that jesus is created and is Lucifer's brother. ( which was the purpose of the first council of nicaea , to destroy the aryan heresy which taught that jesus was not the eternal God, but a created being like Lucifer or theAngel's. Which is heresy and always will be heresy.
@@jacobbrownfield5753 this is why the BOM is hiding in plain sight. The public equates it with what the mormon church has become today and they think it is one and the same. The fighting between the nephites and lamanites is like the old testament of the Jews having times of righteousness and wickedness going back to the Lord. There is an Alma the younger who persecutes Christians and becomes one himself, sort of like Saul of Taurses(misspelled) who becomes Paul. I've watched videos, not relating to the book of Mormon that correlate to it's historicity. The DNA of native Americans by the lakes at the north east of America (upstate NY near Palmyra) have middle eastern ancestry when other areas have Asian. The person giving the presentation didn't even mention that correlation.
Never heard of details of first temples dedication or him starting a bank. I heard a bit of fighting in Missouri. The 13 articles is pretty well described. Haven't finished listening yet, but my understanding is that Lehi's family sailed south and east from the Saudi Arabian coast, along the Indian Ocean, then through the straits of Malacca, finally into and across the Pacific, to an area roughly equivalent to northern coast of Central America. I'm pretty sure this is correct, because I recall thinking that Lehi's family accomplished a navigational feat unequalled (omitting Chinese journeys) in the West by anyone until Magellan's day; and he was a trained seaman!
I know the Book of Mormon is true and Joseph Smith was a prophet of God. And Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ appeared to Joseph Smith in 1820 to restore the Church of Jesus Christ in the latter days.

If God appeared to Joseph Smith in 1820, how come in the messenger and advocate volume 1 pg 79, would Joseph write that after the death of Alvin smith he wondered if God existed, this is several years after the first vision was supposed to have taken place. He also says that his sisters and mother joined the presbetyrian church and he was seeking membership in the Methodist church. This is ludicrous considering that God told him that all their creeds were an abomination, their professors were corrupt, and that none of the church's were correct. Also which version of the first vision do we believe? The angel coming with fire, the vision with the host ofAngel's, or which angel visited Joseph nephi? Or moroni?
For one thing Joseph Smith could not create the book of mormon by his own cleverness and genius. It is obviously beyond any man's carnal ability. Further this would be a major contradiction in that the scripture teaches that no man can say Jesus is Lord except by the Holy Spirit. It would be impossible to create a lie of this magnitude and at the same time hold Jesus Christ as Lord. The two do not mix. The book of mormon is in fact perfect baptist doctrine in just about every way possible including its vision of government. It claims to be the most perfect book ever written and if there be mistakes they are the mistakes of men. From a doctrinal perspective and its pure biblical poetic genius it is the most perfect book ever written
The Book of Mormon has the italicized words in the KJV that the septuagint or the paleo hebraic texts definitely would not have had in them. There a words that exist in Hebrew that don't exist in English thus when the book of mormon writers quote from Isaiah or malachi or wherever it might be, we would expect the English translation of that from joseph to be different from the exact quotation of the textus receptus. Im Also fairly certain that Ethan Smith's "the view of the hebrews " (which came out 7 years before the first vision), had an impact on Josephs writing of the book of mormon. Josephs mother wrote how he could tell incredibly detailed stories of the ancient inhabitants of the Americas down to the way they dressed and their culture. To say that its ludicrous that somebody could make it up , I would challenge that with the apocrypha such as the gospel of Thomas. It's not inspired but it sounds like something out of the bible. You could look at tobit, bell and the dragon, books of enoch, gospel of peter or mary. Many non inspired writings sound legitimate.
