Just a minor quibble: Gal 3:17 referring to 430 years is not really a match with Jubilees since there it only refers to an even 400 years (and BTW, that reference is in 14:14, not 15:4). The 430 years related by St Paul accords better with the LXX of Exodus 12:40 "lived in the land of Egypt and in the land of Canaan" (since the MT drops "and in the land of Canaan" from the verse). 430 years is not an issue for those who understand the sojourn in Egypt as being 215 years (which is also attested elsewhere in the LXX).

You guys admit the OT was written in Hellenistic times. A lot of pastors will fight against the thought. We know much of the Bible is fictional mythology, including the Gospels, they are fictional mythological adventure stories featuring Jesus and his disciples. And who knows how many Gospels there actually were in the beginning, everyone was trying to out do one another. I'm not saying God isn't real. I'm just saying I can't in good conscious tell people the Gospels are reliable, because they are not.
the bible is not fictional mythology. the only characteristics of the bible that you might use to argue the point are the supernatural elements. but if that is your only argument it potentially exposes a possible presupposition of a materialistic worldview where no supernatural events can occur, & that is a bias that is brought to the text. the bible has a ton of corroborating evidence found in the archeological record that definitely supports the gospels/new testament, as well as a lot of the old testament.
Ethiopians would disagree. Even so, it’s kinda hard to explain St Stephen’s speech, and St Paul’s reference of the Torah being given by angels without the Book of Jubilees.

Just a minor quibble: Gal 3:17 referring to 430 years is not really a match with Jubilees since there it only refers to an even 400 years (and BTW, that reference is in 14:14, not 15:4).
The 430 years related by St Paul accords better with the LXX of Exodus 12:40 "lived in the land of Egypt and in the land of Canaan" (since the MT drops "and in the land of Canaan" from the verse). 430 years is not an issue for those who understand the sojourn in Egypt as being 215 years (which is also attested elsewhere in the LXX).
I listened to the entire episode. So fascinating. This podcast was suggested to me by my parish priest and it's been incredibly edifying and I've learned SO much. Perhaps I missed it in the podcast, but did theyever explain why specifically Jubilees is not considered a canonical book? Is it because it is pseudepigraphal?

You guys admit the OT was written in Hellenistic times. A lot of pastors will fight against the thought. We know much of the Bible is fictional mythology, including the Gospels, they are fictional mythological adventure stories featuring Jesus and his disciples. And who knows how many Gospels there actually were in the beginning, everyone was trying to out do one another. I'm not saying God isn't real. I'm just saying I can't in good conscious tell people the Gospels are reliable, because they are not.
the bible is not fictional mythology. the only characteristics of the bible that you might use to argue the point are the supernatural elements. but if that is your only argument it potentially exposes a possible presupposition of a materialistic worldview where no supernatural events can occur, & that is a bias that is brought to the text. the bible has a ton of corroborating evidence found in the archeological record that definitely supports the gospels/new testament, as well as a lot of the old testament.
