I think they are designing something geared towards older folks who may be closer to retirement and wanting to travel. Lots of older folks and empty nesters love the comfort of a closed shower on hand at the ready, esp the wives! I know mine would! Thx for the tour, Talon!
I've been looking for a campervan to go skiing for two years. I love everything about Storyteller. However, I can't get over it to pay $200K and get a potty. I'm going to a dealer next week to check out this floorplan.
@@jasonlucas2328it is overpriced for sure, I own the Stealth and use it a lot for snowboarding but prob could of saved money and got a descent custom build for much less.
We have always liked the STO, but really wanted the cassette toilet and enjoy the hard shower of our current 2019 Revel. Now, it looks like it is time to make that switch to STO Mode XO. This is perfect for our needs.
Yo Talin Sei !!!! Congratulations!!!!!! Finally tieing the knot!!! Can’t wait to see the video of moments leading up to the engagement. Anyway Congratulations!!!
I dig it. As a former Revel owner like you, this thing is a Revel killer. Going to take a big bite out of their market. I still prefer my Halo that can dry and be tucked away and have a more open layout feel. But this is still a sick van they built!
Looks pretty nice. Very compact. But Can you close the door while using the bathroom? Because of the sloop of the road i would sleep with my head on drivers side. So can i move the cabinets to passenger side?
The XO just might make me consider purchasing a MB Storyteller. However, I’m still concerned about the higher maintenance costs associated with owning a MB, and the majority of UA-camrs driving these vehicles seem to have issues with the electronics, forcing them to search for a MB dealer capable of repairing whatever the issue might be. For these reasons I have been leaning more towards a Ford Transit, but I must admit they just don’t look as aggressive as a MB fully decked out. I would be interested in hearing from MB owners if my concerns are genuine, and would they make the same decision in purchasing a MB? Thanks!
I know two couples who bought Winnebago Revel over Storyteller because of the bathroom. They loved everything about Storyteller except the lack of a fixed bathroom. This floorplan is a Revel killer.
Revel can be had with at least a 40% msrp discount. Storyteller doesn't do discounts. So, a Revel is about 40k less than the storyteller classic. Of course the storyteller is amazing and well built with quality components but you'll have to decide for yourself if it's worth the extra cash. Some say yes and some say no.
If I knew 3 years ago what I know now about vans and knew this Storyteller model (wife approved with bathroom) were coming out, I would have went for it. Their quality is great. Interior wise, the Sprinter I currently have isn`t even on the page...or in the same book. Thanks for the great video tour, Talon!
23 Beast owner and feeling a little jealous of the new battery system... Do you know if the battery bank is upgradable in our van? Probably wouldn't change it out until it fails, but that seems to be the one item that might have to be upgraded as the technology gets better. Also, what brand is the shirt you're wearing? Big sunshirt fan and love the pocket... hard to find!
Thanks for the reply. How does the insulation of STO compare to Revel? Also, how do the heating systems compare? Does STO have multi-zone? I’ll use it most weekends for skiing. Thanks in advance!
Nicely done Talon. Finally some clear views of the layout and functionality of the XO. The release video that STO should have made. That said, can you clarify if the galley-side rear seat slides rightwards to create space between the two seats/if so, how far)? And how much fore-aft movement there is on the seat bases?
I didn’t notice the ability to do that, but I may have overlooked it. I will say that the seats seem to have plenty of room and are more comfortable than the groove lounge seats because there is more padding.
Definitely like this compared to a revel, but I feel like not having the groove lounge is a huge loss. Especially having the third bed option. For a couple traveling with no kids or anything, looks great
In 2022, I was torn between a StoryTeller, Revel or Entegra Launch. The Storyteller was 1st off the list because of no proper bathroom/shower. I actually made my own version of their folding shower back in 2014 in my Promaster, it was very inconvenient, it had no privacy for couples. 2nd off the list was the Revel... very dated interior, small lithium system, and bottom of the line Sprinter Chasis. I ended up with the Entegra Launch 4x4, it had everything I wanted (the crackhead quality fit and finish was like all the big name manufacturers), no where near the fit and finish of the StoryTeller. Being a mechanic by trade, I straightened out all the quality issues of the Launch, moded the suspension system and other things, which literally saved me tens of thousands over a StoryTeller. If StoryTeller would have made this model two years ago, it would have probably be sitting on my driveway today.
So, like in life and history, everything goes a full circle. The "old" storytellers that had the revolutionary halo shower.....now have become the "new" storytellers that now use the old style of showers that everybody else had. Funny how things always circle their way around and back to the same. Personally, I prefer the innovation of the halo shower, but hey, adapting to the conventional way may attract all those conventional people that needed that conventional bathroom and storyteller was losing them for more conventional competitors.
Thanks for the in depth systematic review. Nice to see how the new pieces and systems work. I noticed when you panned across the push button controls on the inside wall of the galley they removed the hot water recirculation button. Did they remove this feature? Or is the feature only available via the Mode Comm screen?
Great video and really helpful. Can the driver side seat rotate with new position of Lagun table. Also do you know if Canyon Adventures is redesigning the GLSS to accommodate for new bathroom layout.
Yes, the drivers seat can still rotate! The CAvans GLSS is for Revels. The GSS and CSS are the products for storytellers and with their newest pro series products, they will definitely work with the XO. I’m sure they will also design something specific for the drivers side since the new bed step takes up a little extra space.
Hey buddy, how's it going? It was pleasure meeting you at the Scottsdale, AZ. We are getting 2024 Hero Camper Teardrop Trailers this week and I would like you to come and see them in person. Also, I am thinking of getting 2024 27 North Venture Van 170 and just curious of what you think about them. We will be at San Juan, Santa Rosa and then Overland Expo West (Flagstaff, AZ). Hope to see you soon!
Thanks for chatting! I’m not familiar with that trailer or van but I’ll check em out in person sometime. The next event I will be at is Overland Expo West so maybe I’ll see you there ✌🏼
Don't get me wrong-the van is nice and the quality is evident, but if I have to be honest, it feels like every other van out there in terms of layout. I love the halo shower and groove lounge and was hoping for an integrated toilet. The portable toilet that the vans come with is comical. To me, they had an opportunity to innovate but fell short. Also, they need a Ford Transit Option with all the bells and whistles. Just my initial thoughts.
That depends on a lot of factors but I would say probably as long as I can in my storyteller. This video explains those factors - ua-cam.com/video/p-DiJCb54Ag/v-deo.htmlsi=6bCK2JPSSJ5uhq6N
I have a beast mode w/Volta and it has been problematic from the start(for some reason the Volta system shuts off and then restarts). I auto-start charge for 1 hr and it gives me a 30% charge which is terrible. On two separate occasions I have called Volta and no one has ever returned my calls. Additionally, they said I would need to change out the digital screen and then update the system which they have failed to do on two teleconference calls. No we have no answer to the problem and I have a bad Volta system in a vehicle I live in. I do not recommend them or Storyteller for putting in a faulty energy system in a $225,000 RV. It is pathetic and unacceptable! Wait till you see the pain in the ass way to update the Volta as well.
Looks great but it’s a hard no for me … the groove lounge is such a unique part of a Storyteller!! I’ve owned a Midwest auto design Patriot 144 4x4 for 2 years, 40,000 miles and love it but my next purchase with be whoever has the groovelounge
I get why they have to make this - some people just want a dedicated shower. but those people should just get a revel (or better yet just go get a light trailer). love the other storyteller shower design.
Love to see an independent American company offering a high quality van. It still has a custom feel/look and the electric system is insane!
Super job Talon! No one does reviews like you. Straight to the point covering all the important stuff that matters
Thank you! 🙏🏼

A natural evolution and line extension for Storyteller. Good quality execution.
The bathroom tells me everything I need to know about a van. This is a proper bathroom.
I definitely like the open layout of the mode you have more, but I can appreciate Storyteller reaching a larger customer base with this style of van!
Hello from Northern Cali! My husband & I just seen you on the freeway & so glad we found you on here & IG😊
Hello! Thanks for stopping by 🤘🏼
This van XO is there best build yet

Very nice indeed; but I’d have to sell the house to buy one 😮. Maybe that’s the idea. 😉. Good content as usual. 👍
I was looking at a Revel bc wife wanted a fixed/private toilet & shower. Just purchased my classic XO!
Great video!!!
Congratulations on Ash saying Yes 🎉
New market. New customers. I think it's a great addition to the lineup.

so as a big person weight wise. How much of a challenge would a bathroom of that nature be for the over 270 club?
Wow! Amazing👏👏👏...New sub here🙋🙋🙋
Welcome aboard!

They tell you timeframes for delivery? I’m about to pickup a 2025 Revel, but would cancel for a Mode XO. Nice review, I’m convinced.

It slides out and there are two cup holders in the opening between the seats

I would have liked to see a model built on the longer 170 chassis. Call it the beast mode pro or something.

Would your table/seating under your bed in your storyteller work on this one.
The new CAvans GSS pro would.
Thetford cassette toilet is a big downer. Should have been empty for the addition of a wrappon or a compostable. Other than that I like it.
If it had a Ford Transit chassis, I would buy one next week.
bascially storyteller mode for old people who need to waste a ton of space on a huge shower when the pulldown shower serves the same function
For us, it's the privacy of the toilet. Not an issue if you travel solo.
