There's absolutely no way the PS6 was at TGS in any capacity. They are pretty adamant about leaving their Japanese roots behind, and wouldn't reveal their flagship device at TGS (with the possible exception of a handheld.) There's no angle in which they would logically showcase the PS6 at TGS, let alone half a generation early.
@coolertuep yeah, but they would have demoed it to developers at gamescom if that were the case. Japan is the last place they'd choose to get developers on board, they're very clear about their indifference to Japanese made games, and Japan as a whole is mostly a mobile gaming market. It just doesn't make sense from any angle that they'd be at TGS showing off a prototype
Crazy how Sony is treating Japan right now. I'm in Japan for work and thought "hey maybe I'll pick up a pro after it's revealed". 120,000 yen with no stand or disc drive. Even with tax and included that's wild. It's still like over 100 dollars more than the US price with the exchange rate. And regardless the exchange rate doesn't matter when you're in Japan earning yen. I'm here for work and earning a yen salary. That's nearly half my gross pay check. I have living expenses for God's sake. The average monthly wage in 2023 reached at "new high" at 300k yen a month. The PS5 Pro cost over a third of that. 😮
@@vullord666 The PS5 didn't sell well over there. So it makes sense that Sony would concentrate on other markets where the PS5 is dominating. Japan right now are into handhelds, with PC supplementing higher end devices.
PS6 for what 😂😂? So that game development takes 6-7 years and we see only one or two games max from each studio and those studios closing if their games don't sell 5+ million? We are well served with the PS5 for many more years, the generation barely even started yet.
I mean you basically guess what the PS6 will be apart from any gimmicks. Faster raster, fast and more ram, fast SSD, better ai and probably the biggest jump will be in the ray tracing department. I think the PS5 hanging around a long time after the PS6 launches will be fine and less of a deal as it is now with the PS4 because at least it doesn't have a hard drive like the PS4.
@@Agent-mb1xx I totally agree comment, No Disc Drive, No Stand & No controller, sold separately. *Sony: we at Sony interactive have found new & exciting ways to fuck over our fans. 🤣👍*
If upscalers on consoles have reached DLSS 2.0 levels of detail retention, where geometry can be rendered in 240p and upscaled with no discernable performance loss, to a pixel resolution identical to 8K, then native resolution has been dethroned. You might think you had some kind of "gotcha" moment, but you're inadvertently admitting that native resolution is a waste of resources, and that the application of AI upscaling is the better way to approach rendering.
After the disastrous situation with Cyberpunk 2077 at launch, I think current developments and optimizations should stay focused in the current-gen and, later, they could implement enhancements for the next-gen.
@@stanislavkimov2779, no, enhanced/optimized/improved versions. Some examples of games for Xbox One that later were improved for free are Read Dead Redemption 2 (Xbox One X), Fallout 4, Assassin's Creed (some), and Cyberpunk 2077 (patch 1.5). In the case of Xbox, it is called Smart Delivery (I guess there is a similar feature on PS). Remasters are another thing and, in most cases (if not all), are sold as a new product. There are cases where the improved version is sold as a new product but there is a patch at a reduced price, like, for example, Skyrim and The Outer Worlds.
Phasing out previous gen consoles is a whole different beast with digital subscriptions/downloads. Customers are going to be pissed if they lose access to these games when they still pay full price for them compared to physical copies. I still buy a physical copy no matter what, and that includes the full game on the disc. I don't buy a game if it isn't available that way. I'm not going to rely on Sony to decide when I can or can't play a game I purchased at full price. Absolutely no way. So they are going to be stuck supporting older consoles along with digital releases, along with the games they sold people. Otherwise they are going to royally piss off their customer base and turn people away who "don't get it" from future digital purchases. as soon as digital games are listed as being "rented", as they truly are (minus hacked consoles and backups), and are offered at rental prices - I'm never going to buy in. And my first console was a ColecoVision. I've spent over 6 figures easily on console gaming, but unless I can hold it in my hand and play it whenever I decide, I'll just stop spending money. There are thousands of games I want to play from past generations already, I'll skip the latest and greatest if I have to.
The PS5 is more than double the power than the PS4 Pro so without a doubt its probably going to be more than triple the power. Hold that thought to Nov 2028.
what would be the point of that? it's a console, it plays games... hardly groundbreaking and definitely not enough to warrant a sneak peek 3 years early
It's so that developers can start to target the PS6 in their game development, so they know how much higher they can upgrade from the PS5. And considering how long it takes to make a game these days, giving developers a sneak peek three years early isn't a bad idea.
@@G360LIVEyour absolutely correct, but I wouldn't have wasted my time typing this comment for someone who is clearly biased and has clear signs they don't like console or is ignorant on how long game devs take
Frankly, we have finally reached the point were consoles (i.e., closed hardware platforms for games) are no longer necessary. Both in terms of pricing and capabilities, the hardware has reached a point that they truly are just a PC. Nintendo might include some extra functionality in the controller that makes the Switch 2 something slightly different than a less ergonomic Steam Deck... but there is not much more that can be done in terms of visual fidelity or interactivity with the current paradigm. You'll need a radical change like Brain-Computer Interfaces or full-fledged XR systems to justify selling this dedicated platforms.
You forgot one of the most important thing: consoles are cheap PC that can run games comparable to way more expensive PC. That's the difference why people buy consoles instead of PCs. To kill consoles, PC manufacturers have to come up with a cheaper PC that can play games as well as consoles. Hint: NOT GOING TO HAPPEN LOL.
I play PC and PlayStation and to say just get a PC is disingenuous, there's a lot more faff when it comes to pc the fact is some people just want to play a game they don't wanna have to go through installing drivers and troubleshooting issues , all the different things that can go wrong , to not get the performance that you expect I love my PC but damn is it a nightmare trying to get everything working to play racing games in VR for example with gt7 literally just put disc in headset on and go , I gave up trying to run several racing games in VR on pc as either there would always be performance or control issues
There's nothing pushing them to show anything they competition is a joke and there's nothing like e3 anymore where the companies would have they big blowouts trying to top each other with what they got coming There's just no pressure to show stuff anymore
Sony released Concord when what they should have blown their money on was a competitor for the Switch 2. When all these Switch owners look to finally upgrade, you think maybe having a compelling option for them to consider would have been smarter, than a hero shooter that your existing user base never asked for.
Actual final spec PS6 dev kits won’t be out until about 18 months before targeted launch. May pc-spec equivalent kits be out to primary partners before then, likely, but still way too soon for that.
Tbh I'd be really worried if the PS6 was built from hardware available now, 3-4 years before it's set to release. Now showing a new PlayStation handheld built with the same tech as PS5 Pro and powerful enough to run the entire PS4 back catalogue. That would be interesting, and more importantly, plausible.
@@XGD5layer the current handheld's don't come close to matching the memory bandwidth of the PS4, which is why they typically run at lower resolutions. LPDDR5 memory on a 64-bit or 128-bit bus simply won't cut it. It's going to take another generation of memory at least because a 256-bit bus in a handheld just won't work.
It doesn't mean the prototype will retain the same hardware.. usually just the same family. The PS2 prototype was pretty much a big PS1.. Early PS3 prototypes from 2003 has a 2GHz Cell and a Geforce FX..
It was rumored sony was working in the psp 2 or whatever their future portable handheld will be called I'm just hoping they take their time and I don't want it to die out as quick as the vita did
Ps 6 where you play all games released for previous consoles, and get a ps6 pro to play ps5 titles with rtx ... a ps7 to play ps6 titles ( if they release ! ). Indie games are better and the system requirements are mostly ps4 spec.
There were 4-5 exclusives this year alone. If you want to ignore them and focus on remasters that's up to you. Forget I said anything. Don't get a PS6 - easier for the sane amongst us to get one
Honestly this generation should be longer than 7 years. Games are still being brought to last gen, not many first party titles, pro is weeks away from launch. Take a few more years to cook up something extra special for ps6, we don’t need it in 2027.
The cross gen era didn't end for four years this time. Next gen it'll probably be 5 years. If it comes out in 2027 then we won't really see next gen until 2032 or 2033. I'll be so old then 😦
The only good thing about ps6 coming earlier is ps5 backwads compatability, is that they both use the ssd harddrive. You can design games the same way. Ps4 had a standard hdd, so you can't go all out on ps5 game design built with the ssd in mind and then scale back for ps4. So the first few years of ps5 have been limited in scope. The only real next gen games we got is returnal/ astro/ ff rebirth.
PS6 soon? Sure, why not, at long as it comes with a 4K disc player and is backwards compatible with PS3 discs and every PlayStation game in the past from all past systems.
If, big if, Sony showed anything behind closed doors at TGS, it was a PC build using existing high end parts to demonstrate the baseline they're hoping to reach for a next generation console. The potential is there to do stuff well beyond current consoles, including the PS5 Pro, but the investment in tools and a code base to turn the hardware capability into meaningful output is another story entirely. UE5 (and competitors) is supposed to bridge that gap but getting a complete grasp of UE5 is a career in of itself. In some ways, having a 'this is the same but a lot more of it' generation might be a good thing. A complaint on the Xbox Series X side is that several notable hardware features remain underutilized because they don't exist on the PS5 where the baseline for multi-platform games is set for this gen. A generation that doesn't add much new stuff for devs to figure out how to use but rather just brings stronger versions of the same features could provide the respite needed for the industry to catch up with itself. The PS2/Xbox/Gamecube generation would be a good example of this. A PS1 dev could get up and running on the PS2 fairly quickly, though there was plenty of optimization to be had from the greater complexity. (Though minor compared to the transition to PS3.) A PC dev could get going on the Xbox almost overnight, particularly if they'd already done some work with the Nvidia Geforce 3 shaders. (Remember when those were a novelty in PC graphics hardware?) Devs who'd spent the second half of the 90s learning to do 3D were set to apply those skills with that entry generation of the 21st Century.
I wonder if this would actually work better than having the mid-cycle refresh at all: emphasize cross-gen more heavily, everything will be cross gen for the first half of the generation. New console generation launched at a much higher price point, similar to a mid-range gaming PC or flagship smartphone. Instead of a mid-cycle Pro version, you release a smaller, cheaper version of the console on a new node, at the same performance level. When your new generation launches, you simultaneously launch a Switch style portable version of the last generation. If you're the target market for the Pro consoles, you just buy the pricey new generation console at launch. If you're looking for a straightforward gaming experience at a good price, you buy the midlife refresh of the last generation at the lower price point, because all the new games for the next ~5 years will be cross-gen.
Considering the release is rumored in 2028 and how fast the technology improves by year, I don't think there is something real to be shown by Sony... but if it exists, it will be pricey, that's sure.
The PS6 needs to come equipped with technology that will really enhance the PS VR2 or PS VR3. They need to get serious about Virtual Reality on the software side. We need to see a huge leap and be dazzled next generation.
TBH, there are a couple of options: bring a PS6 around 2028, that's relatively similiar to PS5 Pro at a lower price point (i.e. $500). but why would Sony do it? either don't release the 5 Pro or don't release the 6 base model. a simple shrink to 2nm or even below of the Pro chip and doubling SSD capacity would honestly serve a lot better to avoid developers work (obviously a waste of the development in memory and chip capability). bring a new chip around 2028 quite a bit above PS5 Pro and new features around $700. better RT, better Nanite/geometry support, maybe a big L3/V-cache and a new CPU base spec. 24GB with 3GBit GDDR7 modules. some new custom blocks (maybe for AMDs Fluid Motion tech). unclear what other feature it could implement. they could've done it with PS5 Pro already tho, so.... or bring a PS6 2 years from now instead of bringing a Pro today. seems like a rather small gain considering the memory upgrade will eat all of the budget due to tech becoming cheaper. delay the next Gen until 2029/2030 and launch at $700 for a reasonable leap in perf. probably Zen 7 and RDNA 6, 64MB GPU IFC and TSMC 18A or 14A. maybe 2 CPU cores dedicated for OS and 8 cores for games (each likely 2x speed of base PS5 Zen 2 cores), so a ~15-20% more threads for games or ~2.3x CPU perf in very good multi threaded games vs the base PS5. ~80CUs and ~1.5x per CU due to higher clocks and IPC (~2.5x per CU in RT vs base model), achieving ~ 3x perf vs base model or ~2x vs Pro. combined with 24GB of GDDR7. this implementation has the issue of shipping the - than - horribly outdated PS5 Pro until 2028/2029 as well as a gap year.
Completely agree!! In a way the PS5 Pro has scuppered the PS6. It means we are either getting a "meh" PS6 that's really not any better than the PS5 Pro for around $500, in 3-4 years time. Or a PS6 that's a touch better than the PS5 Pro for $700 (possibly more). Which will only give a very simular small leap over the PS5 Pro, just like the Pro got over the PS5 (maybe 50% or so) Or finally a PS6 in 6+ years time that has a reasonable uplift for that $500-$700 (2x to 2.5x performance over a PS5) but comes at the cost of a badly aging PS5 Pro and a then inadequate and ancient PS5 potato by that point (and poor dropped off sales too boot). Which ever one they choose it's likely going to disappointing and will upset many customers. Sony's best option would have been to just ditch the PS5 Pro entirely and just stick it out with the PS5 for another 2-4 years. It's not as though they've got much in the way of competition until then anyway, to even require the Pro.
Honestly there is a fourth option: bring a $1000 console in 2028 and say it's a premium option and cross gen with PS5 will be the norm. Than bring a PS7-Series S gen with a $500 price tag and quite similiar performance like the PS6. Add another $1000 PS7-Series X in the following two years and support PS6, PS7-S and PS7-X until a new gen ~2042 arrives and so on. I don't think the base + 4 years later Pro for a total 8-9 year cycle can be sustained. Every 6-7 years a reasonable upgrade seems more realistic + one Slim shrink
That'd be nice to see. 8-core Zen 6+ X3D at 4.8GHz all core boost, Zen 6c quad core for handling dashboard and OS tasks, 32 gigs of DDR7 with 8 gigs of it dedicated for dashboard and OS tasks, RDNA 5+ for GPU. I'd also like to see a return of FULL backwards compatibility as I'm pretty sure the PS6 will be more than capable of emulating PS3 games, so PS1 and PS2 should be no issue either. There should also be options to run PS3 and older games at higher than their original resolutions through their emulation settings, and system-level toggle options for frame generation (like a custom version of AMD's AFMF2) along with PSSR2 upscaling for PS4 and PS5 titles that don't receive upgrade patches. Yeah I know I'm asking for a lot, but given how long sony's been in the console business they should be able to deliver all of these.
@spiritualantiseptic It won't. The 4090 will be outdated in the next 4 years. The PS6 will surpass it, not including the other architectural RDNA 5/6 features and efficiencies.
I think PS6 talk is too early at this point. PS5 still feels like a new-gen console. So far it's been a continuation and a refinement of the PS4. I'm hoping that big upcoming games like GTA 6 will give a jolt to this console generation.
@@kirby21-xz4rx A very good point but I was thinking if we can now get mini PC's like Intel Nuc and small form factor machines then maybe Sony could fit into that small form factor i.e. PS2. Anyways, one can dream :)
People are (probably rightly) assuming that cross gen and incremental upgrades are just going to be the norm, but I have to wonder if Sony learned a very different lesson from the PS4->PS5 difficulties. 100% backwards compatibility and ease for developers to release cross-gen games might be considered the source of the lack of adoption of the PS5 platform. There could be the perception that there were "no games" because publishers didn't have to commit. Let's pretend the PS6 is announced with an Apple M5 SoC and is not compatible with the PS4/5 but hey look how awesome these launch titles are! (With timed exclusivity on cross gen...) And now Sony have given people (an anti-consumer) reason to invest and then inertia pushes more publishers to commit to the new platform. I don't really think this will be the case, but I am usually painfully surprised at the way executives think...
I think if there is any discussion about the PS6 happening, it's probably all in its design and architectural philosophies, a bit like when Mark Cerny gave us that awesome PS5 Deep Dive ASMR video where he presented the plan for PS5 and its capabilities, but didn't actually show off the console or any content. Although, prior to the PS5 Deep Dive video, there had been leaks of a presentation where someone was demonstrating traversal speed in Spiderman and it repeatedly buffering on (presumably PS4 hardware) but another clip where data was streaming in faster (probably not on PS5 hardware, but demonstrating the advantages of SSD streaming speeds). Who knows what's being discussed at this point. I'm sure something is happening but it's probably at the R&D wishlisting stages at best.
Usually these early prototypes are software and performance showcases with current PC hardware. Since they're sticking with AMD, it's just informing the obvious stuff in a not final list of Yet To Be Released technologies that are just the current ones with higher numbers, so 3nm TSMC, RDNA 6, Zen 5, PCIe 5.0, next-gen HDMI, GDDR7 memory, USB 4. And maybe a big TFLOP number that doesn't mean anything.
i dont like the rush, thats how we end up with problems and subpar upgrades. With where we are now advancements arent as dramatic as they once were, so a way for them to build that classic excitement we once had. i think they shouldn't drop the PS6 until 2029. Call me crazy, but even thinking about that makes me more excited than a 2027-2028 release. When 2029 comes around we'd actually be longing for it and be soooo hype. Also if they do that, lets say in late 2026 Sony says "it will be a few years, this is gonna be special system" and at the same time decide to drop the PS5 Pro price to 400-500, tons of new buyers come into play that will help hold the players over
I mean I wouldn't mind for having that one game that took 6 or 8 years to develop. It would be like a RDR 2 on a uber level of detail and gameplay mechanics. As long as as it's from a trusted development studio and that I get a chance to play it before I'm old old lol
Playstation has always stuck to a 6/7 year release cycle. So yes, we are 3 years away. BUT, the only thing that will be released soon will be the Dev kits, which have to be rolled out in the next 18-24 months so the architecture will be have to be defined soon. The only thing that could've been shown at this show was a concept model or a prototype of a dev kit perhaps
I looked at the previous release dates like the ps3 ps3 slim ps4 ps5 pro etc and the earliest it would release in 2028 but i think it would release in 2030
What I'd like to know is if Microsoft skipped the "Pro" version of the Series X|S to put in extra development time into their successor(s). If not -- if they've spent as much time on it as Sony spends on the PS6 -- I don't see how they can possibly do well in the next generation.
Next gen hardware is already in development the moment current gen hardware launches. These companies have inside information on what their partners are designing for the future in terms of CPUs and graphics cards. When Sony launched the PS5, for example, they already had an idea of what the PS5 Pro would be only four years later as well as an approximation of the PS6 seven or eight years later. These companies have ten-year plans in place. As for Microsoft, back when the Xbox Series X/S launched, Phil said the Series X was their Pro version. So, Phil's plan was not to upgrade the hardware in any meaningful way until their next gen hardware. But Phil still knew what the framework for the next gen hardware would look like.
detachable disc drive helps to streamline the production better. So, i suspect this is the new way moving forward. Cross generation will be the norm. PS5 generation would still hv new games until the end of ps6's lifecycle because it is still a very powerful gaming console. We might even see a superslim all digital ps5 pro alongside ps6 at 299 usd using more efficient chips requiring less power and cooling. Why ps5 pro and not base ps5? Because of PSSR~!. Even new pc games have very2 low system requirements to support old pcs and handhelds. Next PS6 will probably be the same size as the ps5 slim due to quiet cooling fans and power supply. But if it can somehow runs PS3/2/1 games natively ( via emulation for controls and save file )and upscale it to 4k via PSSR, using AI to handle the games, and process it , or download updates and patches etc. The new detachable "pro" disc drive is able to read all of those previous discs. It will be the biggest USP of the PS6. Hopefully PSSR would have matured significantly by then, and would be able to delivery the best possible visuals as efficiently and as optimized as possible . It'll be amazing if PSSR initial setup allows you to tell it what type of display your using , resolution, different colour profile you prefer. Then PSSR will give u the best experience tailored to you.
If the ps6 is already conceived, with specs in mind, i'd be concerned as a future PS gamer. I'm still waiting for ps5 games from major sony developers..
The PS5 is just a PS4, and the PS6 will be more of the same. Gone are the days when Sony and Microsoft would fully develop a new platform (OS and Chipset) for a new generation. The PS5/6/7/8 etc will just be different generations in name only, but are essentially just more powerfull versions on the same platform. Games will continue to run on all systems, eventually phasing out older ones that cant run the latest game smoothly. This is not a bad thing, this means people dont have to upgrade, just to keep playing online with their friends. You can upgrade when you feel like you need that bit of extra power. And developers dont have to worry about a small user base at the start of a geberation. Releasing a 'half generation' every 4 years seems like a great idea. Im just happy skipping the 'pro' consoles, as perforance increments are minimal now.
Video game industry is broken. Publishers are unwilling to finance games, laying off staff, game development is too expensive and long, investors are not happy with returns, and it's getting completely unaffordable. These companies are trying to find new customers and new cheaper, easier to design and sell products, that are not in line with traditional video game products. Last thing we need currently is another console that is more powerful and takes longer to develop for. Industry needs to stabilise itself and find it's direction
PS6 will just be a PS5 Pro with a new CPU and a bit more VRAM on the GPU and otherwise just whack an AI moniker on the end of everything to make it sound advanced.
I do not think a PS6 prototype was shown at this year’s TGS. I do however think discussions between Sony and AMD along with development studios have and are currently taking place.Cross-generational support is going to continue to be a fix in the video game industry. From an economic standpoint it is required as you are moving from a console with a high installed user base to one that is launching with zero installed user base. The console manufacturers want there to be a high adoption rate of the new consoles,to allow them to recoup money spent on R&D.PC ports of games will also remain a fixture as the cost and duration of game development have increased significantly.
Sony will be desperate to go disc less as it's cheaper to put out the machine and they 100% control the game sales market. A recent release game is 64.99 online store but only 49.99 in disc form on Amazon. Don't forget they lose more money making and shipping a physical disc. This is obviously is bad for the consumer but great for Sony greed.

The PS6 will obviously be built on TSMC 2nm, which just started pre-production. So it's not entirely infeasible that they have some sort of test sample out there. TSMC will scale up production in 2025, so it should be a cheap and mature process by 2027. Ideal for a new console. That said, I don't know in which direction Playstation will go. Their conservative stance has served them well so far. We can probably expect a Zen 6-based CPU and an RDNA 5 based GPU, whatever that means. It might still not enable 4k @ 60 FPS base-line. But I'd like to see Sony mandate 60 FPS for all their PS6 games. Neither VR, nor motion controls have really hit the mainstream. So I'm not sure if they will continue down that road. I'm also not sure if they will continue with physical game sales. I guess we will find out soon.
im not a fan of the ssr i think it makes game companies not have to make games at a actual native 4k in stead they lower the resolution cause AI can make it look native when its not. with todays tech we need to have companies push for native and not lower like 30fps and use AI to make it look 4k.
The magic of the new console gen is dead and gone. These days, new consoles are just common PCs with a different carcass (to a lesser extent on Nintendo's side). Nothing new will ever compare to the good days of 90's console unveilings.
On the Nintendo side, you have a phone without WAN capability with a bigger but low resolution screen and good controllers included. A variation on the theme. The last time a console had a truly unique architecture without substantial off the shelf parts was the Nuon. You'll be forgiven if that name means nothing to you. It came and went with hardly anyone noticing.
I will thank Sony for one thing, with the Pro they pushed me back to PC gaming, because if consoles are going to cost £700 for a digital future with £60 min ongoing annnually to access its online, then i may as well drop that cash on a PC, pay a bit more, and enjoy free online, modfing and cheaper digital prices......so thank you Sony, as in the long run you have saved me a fortune. Lol
The same could be said for every console ever offered. The objective isn't what is possible at this moment, it's what is possible in this moment for this price in a convenient turnkey package. So long as there remains a market for high-end PC components for systems costing many times a console's price, this will always be true.
This is how you make a PS6 - take 2 PS5 Pro's, duct tape them together, overclock them by about 20%, slap 8K 120fps marketing all over the box. Pay me, Mark Cerny.
I'm sure Sony is developing PS6 right now. I'm sure that they are going around to devs asking what their needs for future hardware are, getting feedback, etc. But there is absolutely no need for one any time soon. I was of the opinion that there was no need for PS5 in 2020, and I'm still largely of that opinion now. We could still be on PS4 and be mostly ok. PS6 even by 2030 seems too soon IMO. The PS5 barely has any games as is. More like 2035 for PS6 maybe? It's hard to say. With how long dev cycles are I think that it's either going to lengthen console generations dramatically or it will mean each console generation simply doesn't receive as many games as the last. Or the whole AAA model as we know it will go bust and games will get smaller in scale and cost. No reason a game should take 5 years and hundreds of millions of dollars to make.
They need to make a new one earlier, GDDR6 will likely be out of production way prior to 2035 and the entire console will be quite expensive to produce compared to it's lackluster perf. Everyone would jump to PC or even Laptop and hold their money expecting a soon arriving PS6. Maybe 2030. Otherwise devs couldn't start planning with new features until 2040 otherwise. Engines need to be written prior to game development and availability of PS6 would be to low.
That would be a little sad if they were, actually kinda dumb. The PS5 generation didn't really start until late 2021 as no one could get one, call it 2022 even, we're at the end of 2024, so really, 3 full years of availability. They're just about to launch the 'refresh' pro model, ignoring that it's a silly product no one should buy, that 'should' give them another 5 years in this generation. To top it off, Xbox is no where to be found, so why, why would Sony want to launch a new generation so soon when there's nothing wrong with their existing console? Makes no sense at all.

In fact it wasn't a reveal...
No reveal but if ps6 launches in 2027 and they want exclusive games on launch, those games need to start development now
@coolertuep yeah, but they would have demoed it to developers at gamescom if that were the case.

Let me just answer this question for everyone. NO
After the disastrous situation with Cyberpunk 2077 at launch, I think current developments and optimizations should stay focused in the current-gen and, later, they could implement enhancements for the next-gen.
Sell a remaster you mean?
Isn't the PS5 Pro a dev kit for getting devs familiar with PSSR that will have a proper debut with frame generation in the PS6?
Then PS6 needs to be at least 50% more powerful than PS5 Pro? Otherwise, who would bother to upgrade?
The PS5 is more than double the power than the PS4 Pro so without a doubt its probably going to be more than triple the power. Hold that thought to Nov 2028.

You can’t believe everything you hear on the Internet (Kevin Butler)
There's Barely Any PS5 Games And Sony Already Talking About Releasing The PS6 In a Few Years...🤦♂️
King David says no PS6 and he’s right 98 percent of the time.
The PlayStation 6 prototype is coming out on Nov 7th
TBH, there are a couple of options:
bring a PS6 around 2028, that's relatively similiar to PS5 Pro at a lower price point (i.e. $500). but why would Sony do it? either don't release the 5 Pro or don't release the 6 base model. a simple shrink to 2nm or even below of the Pro chip and doubling SSD capacity would honestly serve a lot better to avoid developers work (obviously a waste of the development in memory and chip capability).
bring a new chip around 2028 quite a bit above PS5 Pro and new features around $700. better RT, better Nanite/geometry support, maybe a big L3/V-cache and a new CPU base spec.
Which will only give a very simular small leap over the PS5 Pro, just like the Pro got over the PS5 (maybe 50% or so)
Or finally a PS6 in 6+ years time that has a reasonable uplift for that $500-$700 (2x to 2.5x performance over a PS5) but comes at the cost of a badly aging PS5 Pro and a then inadequate and ancient PS5 potato by that point (and poor dropped off sales too boot).
@@fafski1199 I think Sony doesn't expect any wortwhile new technology or big enough leap in RT performance until ~2030 to make a truly new gen
Playing Until Dawn PS4 version on base PS5 convinced me even more that I won't be upgrading for a while and that cross gen is here to stay.
Everyone should know that target systems are sent out to devs spec wise to start work before system is made.
I feel like a 2X increase in cpu and 24 gigs of Ddr7 would be a great base increase in next gen ps6.
Anything over the ps5 pro in gpu would be great.
It will be 32gb
Meanwhile RTX 4090 is still going to be more powerful than PS6. Consoles have become seriously underpowered since this generation.

PS6 & Xbox5 better be atleast 10X more power, 120 teraflops when they come out ! That’s about what Xbox one to Series X was.
It will most likely be diskless just like the PS5 Pro ❓
Sony will be desperate to go disc less as it's cheaper to put out the machine and they 100% control the game sales market. A recent release game is 64.99 online store but only 49.99 in disc form on Amazon. Don't forget they lose more money making and shipping a physical disc. This is obviously is bad for the consumer but great for Sony greed.
Disc is still an option on pro just have to buy it separately
Ps6 should be equivalent to a rtx 4090 at least.
Hmm, can't see that happening. Probably closer to a 4060.
This is at least 3 years in the future. The 6000 series will be out then. 4090 will be old news by then, definitely at least the minimum spec for PS6
@@Matt-jc2ml Doubtful. I don't think silicon is improving like that anymore. Unless PS6 wants a 300watt GPU.
@@fcukugimmeausername 4 years is a long time though. Even though it's improving slowly I'd be surprised if its not beyond that
@@Matt-jc2ml maybe
the next generation of gaming consoles most definitely will have some type of AI realism filter

There's isnt even a Ps5 Pro yet and you guys just call for PS6 man.. wow.. for needing that, Sony its in really bad shape hahaha
I haven’t even received my pro yet lmao
This means that PS5 pro will last for around or longer than 4 years?
The short answer is no it wasn’t.
Most likely it was a pc based on a target spec they could expect from a ps6
Well if ps6 release 2027 and they want to have exclusive games on launch, development of those games have to start now.
16 cores CPU ???
The magic of the new console gen is dead and gone. These days, new consoles are just common PCs with a different carcass (to a lesser extent on Nintendo's side). Nothing new will ever compare to the good days of 90's console unveilings.
On the Nintendo side, you have a phone without WAN capability with a bigger but low resolution screen and good controllers included. A variation on the theme. The last time a console had a truly unique architecture without substantial off the shelf parts was the Nuon. You'll be forgiven if that name means nothing to you. It came and went with hardly anyone noticing.
What's The Point In Wasting $700 On a PS5 Pro When The PS6 Is Coming Out In A Few Years ? 😕
Throwing shade on a possible true next gen Xbox. I doubt there was a prototype, and if so it's so early it's irrelevant
PS5 Pro will be the best place to play PS4 games
Should just extend this gen until they decide to leave the last gen. Every thing with the exception of a few seems stagnant.
Fruitless discussion. We would need RDNA 6 + Zen 6 machine with gddr7 24gb vram
Lol
According to Playstation ps5 pro is allready obsolete console.
This is stupid, you clowns realize that PS4 is still relevant even after 11 years?
The same could be said for every console ever offered. The objective isn't what is possible at this moment, it's what is possible in this moment for this price in a convenient turnkey package. So long as there remains a market for high-end PC components for systems costing many times a console's price, this will always be true.
This is how you make a PS6 - take 2 PS5 Pro's, duct tape them together, overclock them by about 20%, slap 8K 120fps marketing all over the box.
Pay me, Mark Cerny.
Well.. the PS5 PRO is a PS6 prototype. So the reports might be accurate.😮😮
What really has separated console from PCin terms of quality/per. I would argue mainly DLSS. PSSR is going to close that gap
These upscalers always make the game look worse dunno why they pushed so hard
November 12th 2006 PS6
Didn’t they already do this with ps5 a bit early before launch ?
They showed emulated ps5 running gt sports 8k/120 fps ?!
Or was that a leaked fake?!
I think there is some truth to it especially when you consider that rumored wise Xbox will have the next console in 26
That would be a little sad if they were, actually kinda dumb. Makes no sense at all.
can't wait for the ps6 pro lmao
First game of PS6 will be…..
Last of us 2 REMASTERED!
I'm skipping ps6 if they don't remake every ps4 and 5 game! Who needs BC when you can buy the games again in a new jacket?
And who wants new games anyway??? NO ONE WANTS NEW GAMES!!!
The real PS6 prototype was PS5 pro all along
