Great video, great subject matter. The guy hammering on the rusty roof looking up at it around 37:45 will regret not wearing safety glasses when he gets a small piece of rust in his eye.

The first fire engine I was assigned to was a 1942 Ford COE with a Marmon-Harrington four wheel drive conversion. It had a 4 speed tranny, V-8 and was a "crew cab" design and in the summer it got so hot in the cab back seat occupants would frequently get sick.

For rusted any thing metal a 50:50 mixture of acetone and ATF in a spray bottle Work every time. Works on mixed metals aluminum on steel nuts and bolts white metal on steel just about anything. Piston rings soak for 48 hrs. Most other stuff over night.

So just gonna mention something here. A wire brush on a drill or the 12" hand variety makes life with steel that age like new . Brush it clean add some lube and you'll suspect it was last undone a month ago. Hammer the drum adjacent to the disc that connects the hub!

I can tell you why 41 was the only year for chrome. In late 41 something happened and everything was olive drab with no chrome until summer of 1945. I bet a few people can remember. Hint - they refer to it as WW 2.

My father was a Pearl Harbor survivor. We stopped mass producing motor vehicles for the public in favor of military equipment....planes, tanks, half-tracks, Jeeps, etc. The first Liberty Ship built took 230 days to complete and by 45 we were pumping out 4 a day. A unique era and people remembered as the greatest generation

Split rims are dangerous what ever shape. Someone getting killed or injured was common. Many years ago govrtnment(?) had a film showing one under a vw beatle blowing apart lifting it into the air. My brother was one that has nearly died. The tire fell and blew apart.
