      @@DARITVKOREA We have some that won’t take questions after class. They tell us before class begins that no questions will be taken after class.

    Dear professor, thank you for this amazing video. Would you suggest that prospective graduate students applying for the master's program send a Christmas email to their professor or supervisor?

      Great question! If you have identified specific faculty whose research interests align with yours, it would be a great idea to reach out to them. I would make sure that you introduce yourself (perhaps even include your resume) and try to be as genuine as possible about your reasons for reaching out. Some things to avoid would be: misspelling names and copying/pasting e-mails that you may have written to other faculty (or very generic e-mails that don't specify why you are contacting this person). Don't be too disheartened if you don't receive a reply immediately (Christmastime/new year's is a time for finishing up fall term and freshening up for the new year!) and best wishes!

      @@DARITVKOREA Dear professor, thank you so much for your prompt response and the time you took to write such a beneficial text. But another question is that it would be rude if I send an email to both wishing them a happy new year and ask them to read my SOP (to check if the content is weak) before I send it to my application account, right?

    • @DARITVKOREA
      @DARITVKOREA  3 роки тому

      @@zahrasheibani8246 Ah! In general, professors expect that you will prepare a very strong SOP on your own and tend not to provide specific feedback before your application. Part of this is to be fair to other applicants, but also because they may then feel responsible for the outcome. It's fine to mention some research questions you are interested in and how this may complement the specific faculty member's research area (or how you might benefit from their guidance). The more specific you can be in terms of your SOP (with special attention to research questions/concrete plans), the stronger your application will be. I hope this helps!

      @@DARITVKOREA oh, now I got it. Thank you so much for your help, professor. As students, we might behave unprofessionally in some cases; therefore, reading your responses was really beneficial. I really appreciate it; thank you. And I wish you a happy holiday. I hope 2021 is the best year ahead of you.
