I WANT TO KNOW: What tips and videos do you want to know to help you with school? Let me know so I can do some videos on the topics that matter most to you!
I'll be wary for tip forming personal connection. I'm an EE major and there are some professors who don't bother having close relations to you. You just got to feel their vibe based on how they interact with others. The other tips are great! I'm here for a refresher and out of curiosity because I might need a letter of recommendation eventually haha
Hi Amanda, do you have any tips on how to approach asking them to proof my paper? Should I ask them to do that outright or maybe ask "Hey, I wonder if I approached this paragraph right?" like I have noooo idea how should I approach that? pls help lol
I love the tip about making a connection with your professor and keeping the lines of communication open with them. Human connection...and networking...and breaking down barriers...makes for a better experience for everyone.
Great video! As someone who is now on the other end of things it's always good to be asked well thought out questions... it definitely gets you noticed and builds up rapport! It is also always nice to be referred to by your professional title. I don't like it when people call me by first name in a professional scenario the first time we meet instead of Doctor. It's definitely good advice to use peoples professional titles until you've built up a relationship and you're invited to call someone by their first name.
Dr Dan Maggs love this input! I agree that thought out questions really do set you apart from others. Again, thanks for your insight as an educator 👨🏫
I rlly need this bc I am go to say when I enter to college! I am one student never go to office hour for question or ask question after class bc idk if I am shy or want to get out of the class so quick!
I really enjoyed your tips especially respecting the professor. It’s important not to treat Professor like pals but as elders. Very good video👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👍🏼
Loved the last one and this one! I think if you ask questions and follow their advice it really helps! My daughter just turned in four rough drafts, asking for feedback, and she thought the feedback was harsh, but when she took her advice, she got an A on the final paper!
Great video Abbi! I am done with college, but I made sure I hade great relationships with my professors especially in the hard classes. When they saw that I cared about how I was doing, they cared too :)
I have autism and I have a college professor that I really like and I really try to pick up on social cues but I'm not that good at it and I try to improve as a student in terms as being a better human being every day from things I do in class like give metal horns 🤘 like when I think she thinks she did something cool or make some jokes. Do you think my teacher will still like my college professor will still like me even though I try?
I definitely found asking questions and asking for their advice was a great way to get my uni lecturers to like me 😝 They'd often give me some extra tips or tuition too!

Heather Gerhardt yay for your daughter!! I’m a little sensitive when it comes to feedback too but now she knows how to get that A!

Lex Ferrante such a great point! And I’m sure they were more willing to help you because of it!

Kate Emiley that is awesome! Way to take the initiative and ask!
Great video lovely!
Lucy Griffiths thank you ❤️
You're welcome!
Do you think professors signing their email replies with their first name is an invitation for us to start addressing them with their first names?
I do think it’s an invitation but I wouldn’t assume that right. I’d call them by their full title or professional one until they tell you otherwise
I take the class seriously.
