Lessons from the Master I'm 70 years old I can remember sitting in my schools library reading old hotrod and rod and custom and Gene was a regular feature
I'm speechless! Gene's home is probably the largest and most diverse collection of car memorabilia and related items in the world! Every inch of his home reveals another priceless gem and they span decades. Thank you for the video.
I took Gene's class in April of 2023!! Came all the way from Maryland and had the time of my life!! Best birthday gift EVER!!! Thank you so much Gene!!!!
@pugliesesspeedshop that's awesome it must have been an amazing experience. I wish I could but to get there from Canada plus all the other expenses its just not in my ability at the moment unfortunately. Amazing that you got to experience that 🍻
Jamie! You have just become a intrical part of American automotive history! What an amazing interview! How cool to hang with one of the automotive world ‘s biggest influences in our lifetime! Well done!
Very cool thanks Jamie. Gene still looks good. I'm 71 years old and still working metal. I hope I will still be doing it as long as Gene. My God continue to bless you Gene.
Amazing that ALL the custom cars Gene has formed and made, were all done by hand with these classic NON Power tools. Thanks for the tour Gene. And thanks to Jamie for sharing the video !!!
It is always great to see Gene here because he brings a lifetime of wisdom and ingenuity. He needs to do more videos so those that come after him will have something to look up to. Thank you for sharing this with us.
Thank you Jamie for visiting Gene. Anytime we get to see him on screen. Never have gotten to meet him. I’m 71 and his work has always been out there at the top of the list. 👍
I helped an old guy here in fla with his projects,40 ford and 50 merc. He showed me pics of him and winfield. He had genes signature everywhere around his house. He said he was a mus man. He worked as a pipe fitter on power plants. Miss him
The last time I saw Gene was in Paso Robles, WCK nationals, he was chopping a top right on the grass in the park, and he looks just the same, he looks great! 97!!?? No way!! Keep on keeping on Gene!! 😊👍
You don't get creative out there in the desert until your 3rd alian ubduction that's when you achieve a greater perception of shape and form for interstellar travel....😅 seriously tho the man is the top in his field for automotive art and construction and Ian is humbled to walk the same path as him ❤

Gene is such a great Guy. Always willing to teach & help the next Car Person. His concepts & techniques were groundbreaking way back in the day. He has & had no secrets witch is so giving. God bless Gene.
Hats off and a big thank you, Jamie. It is so important to document these giants of design while they're still here. It's vital we ask them every question we can think of, while we can. I now also know one of the big reasons Ian made his home in the Mojave.
What a great interview! Amazed at the equipment in Gene’s “shop.” Can’t tell you how interesting, informative, and entertaining this video is. Thank you!
Well done, Jamie. Think there should be some sort of museum to show that collection . And let him do audio all his memories on everything. We can only hope to live half the life and experiences he's had.
Still one of my biggest heroes came home from the war in 71 and got to see some of his work at an auto show. I guess that’s why I got into doing bodywork and mechanics. Thanks Gene
Wow, hey Gene if you're listening, I could listen to and watch you every day. You're so talented. Listen to your Stories of the past and even the current stuff you're Workin' on. It's just the best. I fabricate my own stuff in a small way. But I don't build cars, and knowing that you've built some of the iconic cars in the United States, just makes me smile ear to ear.
A look inside the shop again of one of my idols, Gene and George Barris and quite few more ignited my passion, first with model cars then stzrted at about 10 yrs old working metal with my grandpa, I met Gene a few times, very nice guy , not afraid to share his knowledge or to be the one asking questions. A true American treasure
I Love Gene Winfield 😍 Best Customer Word Wide . He is so creative and has so many Plans and knows the easiest way to make it with all Materials and it always looks cool. He reminds me of my Grandpa, who never built anything great and didn't throw anything away because at some point it was considered a crazy Idea. Best regards from Germany OCWX
