At my house, we really loved the return to the simple race. We didn't miss the U-turns and express passes at all. And we loved the kinder, more respectful racing we saw this season overall. Great getting to see & hear Phil on your podcast!

That was a great interview. I don’t think I’ve ever seen him talk so much, just in general and it was neat to get to learn his personality a bit more.

Phil has to be one of the most down to earth Reality tv host out their nowadays.
On a side note liking the scruff he has here definitely fits the world traveler look better then him being clean shaved.

The phrase: "Jack of all trades is a master of none..." it's only part of the quote. The full quote is:
“a jack of all trades is a master of none, but oftentimes better than a master of one.”
    Its a good thing.

    • @susanrussell8195
      @susanrussell8195 2 роки тому +3

That’s for taking the time to put the whole quote. I never knew there was more to it. Now I don’t feel so bad about being a Jack of all trades and master of none. I do like feeling well rounded.

Love this! My husband always uses the first part to describe himself and I don’t like it because he downplays himself, he is so talented! Know I’ll use the second half when he brings it up!

I'm binge watching old seasons of The Amazing Race, and I had to come here to comment on HOW MUCH I loved watching you guys on Season 33. You were SO FUN and heartwarming to watch together. The scene with Penn after Kim bungeed off the dam had me in tears too.
I still remember how at the finish line of the first leg, Phil asked you to "please represent" for us older fans. You did that and more. Congrats on a fantastic and well earned win!!!

53:04 What Penn quoted here is so true! I've travelled on my own a lot and far. And the places and experiences are only meaningful and lasting memories if there were people I experienced it with.
And on the flip side you also don't need to travel far to gain new experience and make memories. ☺️

Guys, this is an awesome interview. The two of you do a great job in interviewing but you do it in such a way where your guests don't feel like a sound bite. Phil seems very relaxed and comfortable sharing with you. Way to go and again congratulations on your win this season and it sounds like from what I have seen on here, staying humble through it.

I just love Phil and always enjoy watching him, whatever show it is. I got a huge kick out of him casually talking to you two with all of the awards sitting on the bookshelf behind him in what appears to be an office/guest bedroom that any of us might have in our house. He is so awesome at what he does, literally top of his own game, but at the same time so relatable and down to earth. Thanks for bringing him on to share with all of us!

Thank you for this. I've enjoyed watching TAR for the first time ever, as well as all the recaps. I have really been looking for the right opportunity to share that highlighting Penn's ADHD and Kim's anxiety through this journey was a perfect storm for me to consider that I might have ADHD. I am 63 and it's clear to me now that I've had it my entire life. This perfect storm includes insightful comments by a boss during my annual evaluation, as well as one of my adult children and two daughters-in-law who are recently diagnosed w/ ADHD, as well as a grandson. So thank you for being open about this and part of the beginning of my journey of discovery.

Like do they stop and pee in the bakery they ask for directions and do they get to eat stuff along the way? (I would eat all the challenge food. For example I would drink that mug of perfectly poured beer and I would
    eat a hotdog. Lol)

Love Phil and the Amazing Race. I wouldn't agree that they enhanced the format this season. Rather they adapted the format because of logistical issues that allowed the race to continue, which I was completely okay with because some Amazing Race is better than no Amazing Race. Glad to hear that Phil doesn't envision the charter flights as sustainable or something they are thinking long-term, as the craziness of getting flights makes for better TV. I didn't particularly like the staggered starts either, though certainly understood the need to do them in the current situation.

Hahaha and she kept saying it was nice we didn’t have guys telling us to go faster or why are we doing it like that? Hi Phil! Penn, I’m so glad you mentioned a sadistic producer. I only saw one glimmer of an expression, after binging all seasons available on Hulu since you and Kim won, on Phil’s face and I wonder is he really sadistic?
Bc what I don’t like about the races are the over kill and injury say with eating too much salty caviar or head injuries from bungee jumping… (which my daughter tells me mom they sign up for it…)
What I love about the race is the relationships and over coming challenges. This shown in how Phil talks at the mat with everyone. I wondered if that was scripted by someone else or is that from Phil, himself?

Forget about too much salt from caviar... what worried me was that Sardinian cheese riddled with parasitic maggots. 🤢
