    For those of us in the United States, Australian Lemonade is like lemon soda (it's carbonated and a little more tart). It's not the lemon juice, water, sugar drink familiar in North America.

      Thanks Paul! Didn't even realise that peeps in the US wouldn't know what about lemonade.. I've pinned your comment for all to see! :)

      Cheers, Steve! I learned about Australian Lemonade (the hard way) on a trip to Brisbane a few years back. According to my Aussie cousin, your Lemon Squash is similar to our lemonade.

      Interesting.. I never knew that. I don't really use lemonade in any cocktails but if I do again I'll remember to share :-)

    Hey Steve! Just a quick realisation haha, this cocktail is called Purple Rain at my bar i work in, with the only difference being i use grenadine instead of the Raspberry syrup to create that purple tint, hence the name :)

    • @ElVibes
      @ElVibes 5 років тому +2

      Oh i forgot to add, I've never tried one myself but the measurements are 25ml vodka, 15ml blue curacao and 15ml grenadine, topped off with the lemonade, i think that would balance out the tartness between the syrups, could always give that a try and see for yourself :) Have an awesome day mate

      Thanks for the tip El Vibes... although I don’t think I’ll ever like this one - way too much sugar 😬

      Yeah absolutely haha, can always find a way to tone it down :) I am a sweet toothed guy but if its too sweet it feels a little heavy afterwards for me.

    Add lemon juice and sub the lemonade soda for sprite and it’s the same cocktail my work has. The “Purple Sky”

    That is some brand that an Aussie should be proud of Steve. Bickford's Ginger Ale and Tonic are some of the best I've tasted. Nice citrusy and tarty drink.

    • @StevetheBartender_
      @StevetheBartender_  7 років тому

      Bickford's is made near where I live.. 😁
      They also bought and redeveloped an old distillery called 23rd Street Distillery - went there a few weeks back.. where have you tried their soft drinks?

    • @shingenozumi905
      @shingenozumi905 7 років тому

      Great man! No man their soft drinks isn't distributed in my area. Unfortunately nope but I was surprised when you said that they also make soda beverages. Their Ginger Ale alone is good enough and I think that's their best selling item

    Fruit Tingles were sort of like Life Savers without the hole in the middle and fizzy. The drink tastes exactly just like them hence the name of the drink.

    Tried this recipe a few weeks back, and we have to put in about 3/4 shot of lemon juice to balance out the sweetness in it. But everyone who tried it aren't a fan of it, even though looks very pretty

    • @StevetheBartender_
      @StevetheBartender_  6 років тому

      Yeah, I'm not a fan of this one at all - way to sweet and I don't like anything with soft drink (soda) with the exception of tonic, grapefruit soda, etc.
      It still gets requested at hen's nights (bachelorette parties) regularly though
      It's also the most searched cocktail on one of my websites, stevethebartender.com.au

    By the way, it's pronounced Blue Curasao. If I were to write it out: Cue (like queue), rah, sao/sow (like the Sao in Sao Paulo, or the sou in sour, or the ow sound in ciao).
    The ç comes from Portguese where it's pronounced as S. It's the same with Cachaça (cah-shah-sa).
    I'm from Curaçao, the island. I've always been a bit torn about the blue color. It can be a bit hard to mix with, it's too blue for its own good.

    • @caveman4694

    • @samanthagould5850
      @samanthagould5850 7 років тому

      Grenadine would (it's pomegranate) if you've ever had a Shirley temple or fire engine it's what is in those'

    • @StevetheBartender_
      @StevetheBartender_  7 років тому

      Yeah it would work, if it was a homemade strawberry syrup it probably wouldn't look the same due to the viscosity but it would still taste okay (sorry, I'm not a fan of Fruit Tingles!)

    What is the issue with blue cocktails? it doesn't change the flavour. I can understand not liking the taste but why the hate on blue?

    • @StevetheBartender_
      @StevetheBartender_  3 роки тому

      Generally blue Curacao is a cheaper form of orange liqueur and relates closely to tacky, sweet cocktails... at least in my bartending career..

    • @gabrielstrong2186
      @gabrielstrong2186 3 роки тому

      @@StevetheBartender_ fair enough I suppose but I thought blue was the same as orange Curacau just with colouring added. I didn’t realise it was an inferior version of curacao.
