I own this piece and it was definitely interesting to get everything to line up correctly. After I put it together I let it sit for a week and went back to make sure things were correct, turns out didn't insert all the pieces fully and needed to re-tighten them. The key with the legs is to have them meet at the waist before putting them on the base, so you basically have to get a second person to help you. Its a shame they didn't give directions that specifically stated that because I only learned it from a fellow collector who bought the piece. The piece itself is amazing and so detailed. If you're a serious G1 TF collector it will be the centerpiece of your collection and I seriously doubt anyone will ever make something this ambitious or large again, so buy it while you can. There will never be another.
Woah!! Sick! There's a picturing of me as a little kid from 1985 holding two of these guys (freshly unwrapped birthday presents). Who knew one day it would lead to 3,000 dollar iterations.
Seems a common issue with their statues, they don’t go together well and they are far too prone to breakages no matter how careful you are. I’d expect better when spending so much money..
Omg I have been waiting for this and my heart sank when I seen the thumbnail and the name of video. Devi is my favorite transformer and this statue is gonna be unreal.
As someone absolutely enthralled with the general design of Devy, this is a MUST BUY. I legit can't help it. The plastic crack addiction takes over lol
This piece has major QC issues regarding those legs. For the money they are asking it should be perfect. Looks great assembled! I also can’t believe they didn’t include instructions. Crazy
Yeah, legs were the biggest issue out of the box. They have “settled” a bit and are pretty solid. But I agree, for the price, it should be near perfection. My main concern with IA is that they often miss on the colors. I felt they did pretty good with this one.
I went through the same issues you did when I was trying to assemble IA's Grimlock statue. IA really needs to provide better instructions if we are paying for these prices. 1) Trying to assemble the heavy body of Grimlock to his 2 legs that were already keyed to the base 2) Breaking off a Sharkticon's tooth because I wasn't sure the fit was tight enough. I did the same thing you did at 7:25 and ended up chipping off a tooth 3) Pure trepidation when assembling due to lousy fitting issues
Good job DT! You put that thing together all by yourself. Mr. X had his wife assemble his, and you both had the same problem with the base and the two legs keying in together. I was nervous for you. That statue is so HUGE and I’m guessing expensive too. If this thing would of fell over from the weight while putting it together, this Devastator would of left you feeling devastated. Glad it worked out though. 👍🏽
@@DTsGEEKSHOW this is really a magnificent piece, may have to get myself one too... also, totally random but what are you thoughts on the XM studios white magneto?
I like the White Magneto design a lot. I just wish it wasn’t white, as I prefer the classic colors. Luckily, there are a TON of magneto statues out there to choose from.
One great piece 👍 I think they could have already had tiny parts molded on like right foot and little tiny parts but it is what it is cost shit load but great piece put in corner I think 🤔
Looks crazy amazing no doubt about it.. But I believe it's extremely oversized to the extent its alway gonna have weight issues.. They could've scaled it down a little bit. What display could you even fit that thing in anyways 😆
It’s definitely not going to fit on your average display cabinet/shelf. I had to build a custom unit for this one. But I love the size of it. Any smaller and he really wouldn’t fit in with my other 1/10 Transformers. That’s the issue with Combiners. They NEED to be humongous to do the character justice. I will do a Transformers collection update soon to show where I put these monsters. Stay tuned!
Hey there DT! I want to start collecting super hero memorabilia and don't know where to start? Like what should I start collecting first? Where do I buy the collectibles? Ps thanks for putting out amazing content
Start small and with collectibles that speak to you. I always suggest comic books and Funko Pops because of their affordability, variety and ease to display. There are other types of figures and artwork as well. Local comic books shops, GameStop, and other local retailers can be a good source for these. For high end stuff, check out what is available at Sideshow, XM Studios and Prime1studio.
Another thing is that sometimes, you're gonna want a figure outside your price range. But the good news is, sometimes, places like Ebay and Mecari are lifesavers due to people sizing down their collections (granted the figure is still being produced- keep in mind out of printers might cost more). You won't always get the best deal, but just be reasonable with your expectations. A $300 figure isn't probably going to show up second hand for $100, but you might find it at $200 if you're lucky. You can also always save a portion of money per paycheck and treat yourself ^_^ Also, even though higher priced figures usually yield better sculpts, this isn't always the case, and you'd be surprised by how nice some cheaper figures can be. Don't feel bad if you set a limit for how high you're willing to go!
@@DTsGEEKSHOW Hey DT I listened to you and have been deciding where to start. I decided to start collecting comic books as well as different types of action figures and prop replicas. Just yesterday I went to my first ever comic book shop and man was it awesome!! I can't wait to go back and get more. Thank you for giving me that advice and for putting out amazing content!
It looks to me that it requires two people to assemble, particularly the arms and shoulders, looks like they should go on simultaneously with you hooking one and someone else hooking the other so that the weight remains evenly distributed and not heavy on one side for any period of time. It looks like the keys would bend or break under tension otherwise.
I’m trying to get studio series devastator and seeing a 3000$ G1 devastator vs a 250$ Bayverse devastator I still gotta say that studio series devastator is not that bad. Does not mean this figure sucks this figure is amazing! Especially for a figure that does not transform.
No doubt it looks awesome, but I'd be terrified to ever touch it. No way I could spend that much $$$ on something that delicate. It would almost be better if it were made of a lighter PVC like a Kotobukiya statue. At least then I wouldn't constantly worry about breakage.
The weight actually provides a bit more stability. A casual nudge probably wouldn’t take it down. But a bolt here and there would definitely make me feel better. PVC would definitely make it less expensive. Not sure how I would feel about it next to my XM Transformers.
Got a ton of stuff on deck. XM Modern Thor, Recovery Suit Superman, Sinestro, Bizzaro, custom Wolverine vs. Deadpool, Rhino, Sandman, Batman Shugo, and the list goes on and on. Hopefully, I can keep up with the editing!
It’s ridiculous how big this is. Sucks you have to disassemble to put it somewhere else. I do feel IA could had done a better job with how it’s constructed. The legs would scare the heck out of me because of how top heavy it is.
The move wasn’t too bad since I got my wife to help me. I kept the legs on and removed the upper body. The upper weight is really scary. Bolts to secure it would have been nice.
@@DTsGEEKSHOW yah bolts would had been better. I would be scare over time when the legs don’t go into place like they should be. It’s quite impressive statue.

Funny thing about this piece is you can leave off the little pieces and it will look just as perfect.
Is this just a statue? Or are they individual figures that have a robot mode, vehicle mode and then combined
The thumbnail looks like the torso is snapped in half but actually he chipped something on the shoulder
with the massive weight, are you afraid of possible leaning issues in the future?
