Of all the streamers I've watched play this, you did the best. Mastering timing and range of the basic attacks is different than the skills used in most survival roguelike games. It is hard not to start running away and searching for weapons. Once you start reliably landing combos the game becomes a lot more interesting. In the last run your standard kick did 6 dps. In another video or two you will be doing 10x the dps with the same attack. This game has potential to be great if they can balance it well.
Beating up gang members with a fish ... Yeah that's definitely a Jackie Chan move .. .. but to be fair .. Lee and Chan did work together in at least one film.
This looks like a cross between River City Ransom and vampire Survivors. I think I like it. Please make a second episode for me to watch and then I will purchase.
Looks like a fun game. The hordes of identically dressed gangsters crack me up, lol…”So yeah, if you wanna join the gang you have to die your hair this exact shade of green and rip your jeans in this precise location here. I hope you own a lot of sleeveless green T-shirts.” It does resemble Jackie Chan and his movies in almost every regard, but for some reason they gave him a fighting style that looks more like Bruce Lee’s. Go figure 🤷
Contact damage seems like a poor choice - enemies should just throw a punch the moment you come into range. It looks hard enough timing your strikes, but add in contact damage instead of just dodging attacks seems needlessly in-fun.
I suspect he was making it look a lot harder than it actually is by spending 90% of his time walking around picking up plates to hit a guy for 40 damage instead of kicking 5 for 150. Between that and the xp left on the ground, he was probably severely underlevelled.
This looks great. Giving me international karate vibes for some reason. However, i have to admit, im ever so slightly disappointed its not based on kung fury :D
Have one problem with the game. it feels like your basic attacks are useless, sure their powerful, but the cooldown is too long to make it effective the game at the start says you basically need to time it but with the amount of enemies timing it is impossible because of the different attack times the overrelance on items is bad but other than that really good game hope to see more of it in the future
Basic attacks are not useless. Once you get a combo of a few basic attacks, if used properly they are better than many weapons. It takes a different player skill than most games of this genera, but once you figure out the range and timing of the attacks, they become very useful and the game becomes much more fun.
It should bother you more that Kung Fu and Karate are apparently interchangeable with this developer. Two different martial arts from two completely different countries. 😅
Eh, it looks like that's actually part of the game - the red powers seem to be more kickboxing/karate based, whereas the blue ones seem to be more kung fu-based. That being said ,"kung fu" is a stupidly-broad term, and "karate" also covers a WIDE variety of techniques. (plus, there's crossover in karate, in terms of certian techniques and styles. Kempo, for example, is arguably what happens when karate instructors re-interprets kung fu styles for a Japanese audience.) Of course, in the late 70's and early 80's, "kung fu & karate" was a category in the Yellow Pages that you had to look up in order to find martial arts schools. (ie, calling the entire category "martial arts" is a relatively recent thing. It's also a fairly new term globally, but that's an entirely different discussion.) So it might be a deliberate choice on the developer's part.
Just to go into _how_ broad "Kung Fu" is: In Chinese, it essentially just means "hard work", and can refer to anything earned through effort and practice, not just martial arts. And considering that Karate was at least strongly influenced by Chinese martial arts (to the degree that its original name essentially translated to "Chinese hand" before getting renamed), it's not really that far off to call Karate a form of Kung Fu.
Red moves are just twelve variations of "short range melee attack" and blue moves are *slightly more expressive* "short range melee attack." Even with combos they do so little damage and put you in abject danger. If you get several moves you're too weak to fend off enemies. If you power up a couple moves, you attack too slowly to fend off enemies. This game seems bad.
This cover art is something I would expect to see in an old 90’s video game and I’m here for it.

The art direction in this game was fantastic. Also I love use of the environment as a weapon. That was a lot of fun lol
Hey! Getting punched worked great for Butterbean!
This looks awesome, really enjoyed this video.

This looks super fun.
Hope to see another episode, where you use one full color themed moveset. Blue most likely.

Really like the game. I hope to see another episode 👍✌️
I really like this game so far. I love the art style and animations. I can't wait for the full game. My only problem is the contact damage...
I love a beat em up movie this is wonderful!
This was Totally Radical Dudes!

Hope everyone having a Pawesome day today!
Auto-attack seems like a bad idea for a game seemingly designed around carefully managing the timing and spacing of a string of attacks.
Hey, thats my hammer :(
I immediately thought "Hey that's Buns bonk hammer" the moment I saw it!

Wow. Seems like a lot of your viewers are like the physical embodiment of “well, actually”
For the Algorithm!!!
