    Just bought this phone because I am not much of a smart phone person, and would rather do most of my stuff on the computer. As a minimalist who just want to go back to the basics with some online aspects, this is more than enough for me.

    We have been using the 6300 4G for about 2 years now, and I love the features, but It would be worth mentioning a few issues:
    1. KaiOS is slow.
    2. Predictive text entry is buggy.
    3. We have 2 of these, and both have developed a problem with a single key press registering more than once. THIS CAN MAKE ENTERING TEXT VERY PAINFUL!
    If you don't need Assistant or Whatsapp, I recall the 225 being more snappy to use.

    • @ivgentis
      @ivgentis 2 роки тому +3

      1. Yeah, KaiOS is slow but this phone is faster than other KaiOS devices.
      2. I also have a problem with predictive text.
      3. I thought it's only on my device! That means there is no point buying a new one...

    I have it and enjoy it as a secondary phone. The phone gets the job done. I notice the battery drains more than expected, but it may just be the way I have the apps set up. I used this phone for 3 months as part of a digital detox from my iPhone. It works well enough; but, the camera is a dealbreaker. I would have stuck with it had the camera been good. Texting is also really bad. However, voice sound quality is excellent, even better than my iPhone. As long as you accept those caveats, it might be worth a try. It worked just fine on ATT here in the US; didn’t even have to call them, just moved SIM card and it worked. Cheers.

The one thing I don’t like about this Nokia is no full keyboard. Texting even basic messages will probably be a challenge for me. I have a Nokia 6300 4G, and I cannot make or receive calls if I leave the wifi calling option on all the time. Have you had any of these issues with this phone?

    Excellent info, thanks Jose. I was debating between this device and the Schok Classic Flip; I ended up getting this Nokia 6300 4G today!! As a LONG time iPhone user, I was expecting it to be much worse; honestly, it’s not bad so far. One issue I encountered was that when my wife texts me a photo, from her new iPhone SE, the Nokia shows me a preview, but then says “image too large to be displayed in Gallery”. Is there any fix for this?? I do not have a microSD card installed right now, I’m wondering if that has anything to do with it?? Anyhow, thanks for answering questions, I know you’re not tech support. Also, I did subscribe, please keep the good digital minimalism content flowing!!

    • @JoseBriones
      @JoseBriones  3 роки тому +4

      Images from iPhones are usually too large for the phone to process. If you have WhatsApp, it’s better that your wife sends it that way so you can download it later. It is not a problem of an SD card. The issue is that the Operating system can only support a certain level of image size. Like the phones of old haha. It’s an inconvenience for sure and we are hoping that KaiOS 3.0 fixes some of these later this year :)

I know some will say just get a smartphone, but my student doesn't really want one due to being already overwhelmed with school during the pandemic.
