you should do a follow up of this and try and create an emulator (by reverse engineering the exported code, not the raw code, so its a PROPER emulator and not just a renderer for the code). if you want to that is :P

I have not made a game in a very long time, but it is an interesting experience, to say the least. In some ways, it is great. In other ways, it is not satisfying at all. Like, it can be great to marvel at seeing everything in motion, doing exactly what it was supposed to do. But you can never really find yourself immersed in it the way you can as a normal gamer. You know what, where, and why everything is the way it is, and there is no "magic" in it. Instead, you just wind up thinking of ways you might change or add to it. Worse, the effect bleeds over into other games. You begin focusing more on the potential what, where, how and why (imagining behind the scenes stuff), how you might do things differently, and so on, than you do falling into your own actual gameplay experience. So, it can be a bit of a mixed bag.
As a game programmer, all I see are the bugs I need to fix and the stuff I need to add. It is a 1000 times more rewarding to see others playing your game than playing it yourself imo.
